This post office is hilariously bad. Not just run-of-the-mill bad. Badness like this can't be ascribed to mere incompetence or laziness, it's got to be worked at.
Today, I was there for 10 minutes before I left. There were 30 people ahead of me in line and one clerk who had a 25 minute chat with a customer who was obviously a friend (this according to folks who were there for the duration). People were complaining very loudly and begging staff to add someone to the front counter. When the "chatter" finally left, there was thunderous applause and shouts of "finally!".
Never again will I go to this location.
For those who have found this review and read thus far, I have a gift for you. Some (not all) ACE Hardware stores have fully functioning contract post office facilities within the store. I found this out and called the store on Westheimer @ Gessner. You can mail packages, send certified letters - everything!
I will drive an extra 6 miles to visit ACE, and even maybe buy a hose or a rake.
There's even a Burger King right next door!
