For all of you people that have not gotten a refund from TVMAX/Wavevision, I would recommend that file a claim in small claims court. You may be able to get your fee back. If enough people did this, they would rethink their policy.\r

I got tvmax because I wanted something faster than ATT Elite package (6mb down), since they dont offer uverse service in my apartments. Man I tell you at first this was a great idea. But after a few days I started to see what all the complaining was about. I am paying for a 10 meg package ( with basic cable tv ) , and I can't get speeds faster than 1.66mbps downstream after 8pm cst. I have called and called and called, they say they will send a tech out each time, but how many times do I have to call to the get issue resolved? Bottom line, dont get tvmax unless you're a very forgiving person and have money to waist.

This is the second time to use there service. Seems they have paid off the apartment complexes in the houston area to keep there sorry service alive. Poor customer service is just the start. You have internet problems you talk to one person and get a story. Go to the tier 2 technicians (in another state) and you get a second story. Talk to the local tvmaxx office and you get a 3rd story. And all with ideas on why you don't have the internet working.

Folks, do not,, I repeat DO NOT USE, there is your safety label. They will charge you for basic cable that is scratchy and unclear. Guide rarely even works. Charge you for internet speeds that there equipment can't provide. I myself was being charged for 6 meg and the system at my apt was only wired for 3. But you only see about 0.75 and this is on a good day. Of course it's someone in the complex abusing the system. NOT my problem, I pay for a certain rate and I want it.

Please folks,, Uverse is just about everywhere. My neighbor had it and NEVER had issues.

Save yourself time and headaches,,

I found the customer service personnel to be pretty good and helpful. However, the service provided is so poor, you will be on the phone with them all the time, and when it??s the service itself, and the low end equipment they are assisting you with, they can only do so much over the phone. And you will sit on hold for a while waiting to talk to somebody that can resolve the issue.
I had several billing issues I had to call in and resolve (about 4 instances), after coming home to find my service off. I used the automated phone system to pay my bill and it sucks. Does not always process correctly for some reason.
I regularly had internet problems, usually resulting in no service or slow service. On some occasions I would have to call and have the IT people reset the IP address because there system showed I had an unregistered modem. I think this happened about 6 to 8 times over a 10 month period. I also had to have the tech guys come out twice to replace bad/nonfunctional hardware. And you get the usual treatment there: no service till they come to replace it, and they tell you they will be out sometime between 9am and 7pm.
I also could not use a wireless router for some reason. I set up an in house network, and could connect to it, but could not use the internet through it. The IT guys on the phone could not solve the issue, nor could the tech guy sent out to the apartment, so I always had to use a hard wire. No one could explain why.
The components I had installed (cable modem for internet and digital cable box) were very low quality, had too few features as compared to competitors, and often had to be reset (daily at least) when they would freeze up. The cable box only had RCA outputs. In my opinion this is very antiquated technology. Even without HDMI for high definition, options like s-video should be there.
After installation, I had very poor picture quality and a buzzing sound coming through the stereo. I resolved that issue by replacing there ultra cheap unshielded cables with decent cables I happened to have. That included the RCA cables for audio and coax cables from the wall to the box that should have been included in the installation that I paid for.
The TV guide is crummy too. It cannot be configured to show only the channels you can actually watch with the package you have selected, and it is very slow to respond to user input.
Considering the cost of the service, the low end equipment, poor quality service and regular problems, I will never do business with TVmax again. They have many competitors with similar pricing and much better features and performance ratings.

Wow. Where to begin? This company is just terrible. My condo association just switched from Comcast to TvMax on October 1st. Since that date, I have not had a single day of continuous, functional cable and/or internet. I've had several cable or internet service calls (because of my service just turning off willy-nilly) which required me to take off work and wait for them. I could complain all day about my experience with this company, but I'm not going to. To say their equipment is sub-par would be a compliment. To say their employees are helpful or polite would be a lie.

Because we were forced into switching to TvMax, I thought that they were my only cable/internet option. Luckily, last week someone told me that U-Verse runs through the phone lines and I just had AT&T install new service today. I'm nothing short of thrilled and all I have to say now is Hey! TvMax customers! Go check the U-Verse website for service areas, and good luck.

I used to have Directv and when I moved to my current apartment, I was told that the apartment complex has a contract with Tvmax. I had NEVER heard of them...and probably for a reason. I'm not even going to write a book on how long it took me to have my cable installed correctly but like others are saying, the picture is scratchy and I have a HDTV. I can turn on my TV at any given time and all the channels will be blurred out thus inaccessible and I will have to unplug my box and plug it back in to reboot the box. If I didn't know that these channels were blurred out and I had some programs scheduled, then my programs will not record. What kind of service is this???? The customer service people are "rudely" nice...that's the best way to put it. I'm not even going to continue writing this because it raises my heart rate. The worst thing is that I cannot switch to Directv because I can't get any signal. I am so sad because I have certain shows that I would love to record. It just makes me realize that I can live without certain shows. TVMAX doesn't deserve a star, their service is worse than horrible.

Our apartment signed an exclusive deal with TV Max so we couldn't find another provider, and I wonder what kind of lucrative incentive they gave to apartment complex in order to get their business. It is certainly not the quality of their service.

We've had them for 3 years, and the internet connection has been getting worse and worse. To the point we have to call twice a day for them to reset our connection before the signal dropped again few hours later. On two occasions I filed tickets for a technician to come and fix the problem. No one ever showed up or even called me to schedule the inspection.

We thought it was our 3 years old 2nd hand modem which they gave us when we signed up, and exchanged for a new one. There was practically no difference at all!! Still have to call them couple times a day to reset the connection.

What's worse, the quality of our cable TV was really dismal too. There was always static and scrambled images, it is horrible. We have a Panasonic HDTV, so it's not like our TV is 20 years old or something.

This is absolutely a fraud company. I'm telling you people, DO NOT use them if you have a chance, you will regret it, I guarantee you.

If I could not give them a star, I would!

TVMAX is about 10 years behind in the latest technology. I live at Camden Vanderbilt on Buffalo Speedway and they have a contract with them that forces the tenants to buy TVMAX. Nothing like being forced to deal with a terrible company. Luckily, my new apt has a view of the southern sky so I can attempt to have DirecTV come out and hopefully be saved. Another thing I don't like is that because of this contract, Camden makes it very difficult for you have a satellite dish. The dish cannot be mounted on their 'common ground' so you have to get a tripod and have the dish protrude out of your patio or balcony. But it's worth it because paying $60/month on TVMAX is a waste of money. I don't mind their service so much but the prodcut that they put out needs to catch up to 2009. If you consider living at Camden, be sure you get an apt. where you can get DirecTV or Dish and be ready to buy a tripod to mount it.

Just got rid of what has to be the worst cable service in town--TVMax. Over the years, I have also had Roadrunner and Comcast. TVMax is hands down the worst excuse for cable television that I have ever experienced. For 6 months I endured poor signal quality, practically non-existent repair service and an outsourced customer service department somewhere in Illinois. Signal loss and pixallation were standard operating procedure for this company. I had two televisions hooked up. When the installer split the signal for the bedroom set, the signal deteriorated even further. At times, the bedroom set couldn't even get all of the channels. Whenever I would schedule a repair technician to come out between 12 and 5, they consistently showed up after 8:00 p.m. What is that all about? You sit around and wait all afternoon and they show up after eight o'clock. One Sunday afternoon, our service went out at 4:00 p.m. When I called, I was told that an outage could not be declared until 3 people reported it. Within an hour though, TVMax declared an outage and told me every hour when I called for a status that their "repairman are working on the problem and should have it fixed shortly." What a crock! That was a bald-faced lie. The service was not back up until 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning. Far be it for TVMax to pay repair people to work on Sundays. TVMax is all about the bottom line as they are nothing more than a cable reseller. Their primary clients are low-income apartment dwellers who subscribe to some basic package. When they lose their service, they endure the inconvenience. What a total rip-off attitude this company has. That's why I am now watching TV with AT&T's U-Verse. Not one pixallation or loss of signal in 24 hours and I don't anticipate any. Someone needs to file a class-action law suit against TVMax for fraud.

.

The only reason we signed up with TV max is (a) they have a contract with our apartments excluding other cable companies, and (b) they were able to come out and connect service before AT&T U-verse. AT&T is running almost 2 months behind on installations (no kidding) and told us it'd be 7 weeks before they could come out and setup internet/TV for us. So of course we called TV Max, our only other alternative.

The setup went fine, the installer showed up on time and left. From day 1, our internet has been sporadic. It drops out at least 3 times a day for various periods of time. Tonight, it died again for a much longer period of time (more than 45 minutes), so my fiance called up their customer service.

After explaining the problem, they had us powercycle the modem a few more times, and it started working again. We had tried that before calling them, so I dont think that was the problem - I think they managed to fix whatever outage they had inbetween reboots.

Anyway, we ask them to schedule someone to come out and look at the installation to make sure things were ok because we've only had service for 4-5 days and we're having daily internet dropouts.

They transfer us to a "level 2" tech to discuss the issues. I kid you not, the tech told her all of the following during their call:

(a) why did they even transfer you to me? Your internet is up now, right, so problem solved!

(b) [when she told him she needed reliable internet for schoolwork]: "well it sounds like you need a backup plan like a wireless hotspot at a cafe or something like that, you should plan for these outages because they can and do happen anytime. (sounds like they're really confident in their product! they recommend going out and buying backup internet for their internet service, because they expect it to go down).

The only reason TVMax exists is because apartment complex managers got greedy and saw a nice profit margin in exchange for signing a long term (20-25 year) exclusive contract with TVMax. So Comcast, Time Warner, etc cannot offer service in the complexes TVMax signed up - and TVMax knows this, so they could care less about providing reliable quality service. After all, where else are you going to go? They have an exclusive contract.

The TV service is not that stellar either. Their tv guide channel has noise/interference. We've seen pixellation/blockiness on various channels pretty regularly. Sometimes the sound just drops out but the picture keeps working. Oh, and unlike Time Warner/Comcast, you MUST buy a cable box for EVERY tv connection, even for basic cable. That's right - even if you want to hook up a tv in the kitchen for basic cable channels, you've got to buy a cable box for $4-8/month extra, because they encrypt everything.

I didn't cancel my AT&T u-Verse installation yet. I'm glad I didn't. Sure, I'll have to wait another month for them to come out and install their service, but at least it'll work reliably.

I??d like to take a moment telling you just how much your cable service at TV Max s*cks. Yes, s*cks like piglets on a sow??s teat. Since installing the new digital cable box as part of the Congressional mandate (not only has the government screwed up the economy, but now they have meddled with our cable as well. Thanks W.), my family and I can now look forward to an enjoyable evening watching our favorite programs in high-quality pixilated little boxes while listening to the show??s characters stutter like hiccupping drunks.

And to think I'm paying $60 a month for such great service that utilizes a box hardly compatible with TiVo. It would seem logical to find a new provider, which I would very much like to do; however, our apartment complex can only offer (sigh) TV Max. How convenient.

Just so you know I am no idiot, deftly avoiding hot beverages at fast-food drive throughs, and making toast in the shower. Which is to say I have already run the gambit of troubleshooting steps issued by the company or from internet message boards, and my TV is a fairly new HD flat-screen, definitely compatible with the digital quality of entertainment I seem to be missing out on? Please do not respond to me with a list of, "did you try this, and did you try that," as I a libel to do something rash in response. Don??t say I didn??t warn you.

If you care at all about your customers at all, then please take my complaint seriously. I realize I am just another account number for your drones in sector 7G to shake a stick at every thirty days, and there is little else available at my disposal to exact any meaningful retribution against TV Max, save sharing my cynical views concerning your company and it's pitiful product.

You have my contact information, and know where I can be found. I will be waiting outside on the street, hoping you will take some sort of action to fix my issue. If you cannot then it really makes no sense for me to continue paying for TV I am unable to watch, and as such you are most welcome to retrieve all your equipment post haste. However, I cannot guarantee that it will not be urinated on? several times.

Thank you for your feigned concern, and any resulting form letters/emails.

- Another Happy TV Max Customer (with a full bladder)

The fact that I was forced to use this AWFUL company just p*sses me off even more!!! The channel guide is always wrong, the time is always wrong, you're paying a ridiculously high rate for b*llshit, and customer service is the worst! Thank GOD I am now able to switch to AT&T U-Verse - witch offers a superior product. DO NOT SETTLE for TVMAX!!! Call around, call AT&T, anyone....or you will be as angry as every other customer!!!

I made an online appointment with them for Tuesday to install cable, some time in the morning between 8 and 12. Nobody ever came and nobody called to say why. I have never heard from them. Guess what everyone says is true. They need some law suits to make them wake up. Lots of little law suits in small claims court.

Seriously the worse company i have ever worked with. The value your getting on there cable/internet service is one where you feel your getting bent over cause of the whole zoned service Houston has. There customer service is, well it's just not there. It took months of trying to get my picture with out lines in it till i just gave up all together. Internet would go down for days or just constantly disconnect. One month i was told they ran out of there allocated bandwidth and will be back up a few days later. This doesn't fly when I partially work at home.

Honestly, if anything else was available i would take it. I love my apartment, but hated tvMax.

I had to make an account on CitySearch to say just how horrible this company is. I currently live in Sugar Land, but I am having to move to a different complex because i did not research the internet company. I work from home every now and then and for TV MAX that is a problem. Every time i am trying to work from home they shut off my internet for high bandwidth usage even though it is not even remotely intensive on the connection. They think that if you use any of their upload you are downloading items illegally and will charge you $25 bucks to turn your service back on. Now they have also shut my service off for downloading demo's off of my xbox 360. Apparently you cant use the internet that you pay for. Awesome. Good call! Pfft.

As for the TV it goes out all the time and to make things worse the picture actually looked better from my antenna than when they hooked up the cable. It is the worst service I have ever used and I am now in the process of moving so I can actually get my work done. I can not express enough how important it is not to go with this company. Please. No matter how nice the apartments are DO NOT MOVE IN. It is not worth all the problems you will have. I had a TV/Internet outage on Tuesday, they cant make it over till Friday. Great.

This company is a joke. Thanks for nothing and please, if a TVMAX Rep is reading this, give me a call when you go out of business so i can throw a party for my complex. Thanks.

I moved to Camden at Vanderbilt and was informed TV Max was the only TV cable service allowed in the complex. Right after I moved in, TV Max upgraded to "XD digital". I lost service while the upgrade was occurring, (3days) and was told I would not receive any credit for the lost of service. I was told by the CSR, Josie, the upgrade would increase my bill by $77.00 per month and I had no choice but to upgrade. Doesn't take a rocket scientist in the age of computers and the state of the economy........I stopped their service that day and returned their equipment . Two days later , received a phone call that I owed them 115.00 for not returning their equipment. I called and talked with another CSR, Alex, explaining I had returned the equipment. I should have saved my breath. He was NOT buying any of it, even when I told him I had a receipt for returning the equipment. Since I had to leave a credit card on file when I initated service, I was charged for the equipment. In the end, I made three trips to the Westoffice address to get it straightened out, I don't have cable service , I lost the 67.00 first month fees I had to pay when I got the connection, but I am saving over 200 dollars a month.

I have had Comcast, Cox, MediaCom, Brighthouse and Time Warner cable (my company moves me frequently) in the past. I will never complain about the others when compared to TVMax.

Put the word about this company so newcomers know about these people??? I am just glad I have 6 weeks left in Houston, so I don't have to be exposed to such business practices.

I feel for everyone who have no choice.

My cable went out after Ike. It was still out 1.5 months later (no kidding). They tried to fix it at first--sort of--then they stopped bothering. I rescheduled service appointments half a dozen times, even to the point of getting the dispatcher involved and a CSR calling me at work. And still, no one showed up. My last call was to say that if they didn't come to fix it, I'd cancel, and I told the woman to put it in the ticket. Still nothing. So I canceled. I had been told that I'd be credited for the time I had no service. When I called to cancel, I was told that they only give the credit after it's been repaired. I said, "Let me get this straight--you'll only credit me after it's repaired, but you won't come out to repair it? So I just keep paying and paying for a service you never provide?" She said, "Yes, that's right." If it were worth it, I'd take legal action against this so-called company. They had no HD service, and their digital menu hardly ever worked, but they just flat would not come to fix it when it failed. No one at the company was willing to take ownership of the problem, despite 1.5 months of no service. I truly believe these people want to go out of business. I hope they do, and I hope they go down in flames.

I do not have a TV, so I depend on internet for news, entertainment, etc. I have called TVMAX service department 9 times in one week. You can not get in touch with the "Service Dispatch" after 6pm. I know I tried. I called at 5:45 only to have the "Service" department told me to call back at 6:30 only to tell me "Sorry, they are closed." Yes, it did happen. Twice. There are no other options available for cable in Camden Sugar Grove. You can get a dish from Dish...somebody, but what good is that on a rainy day? If you have any choice at all, avoid these people. It took over a week for them to admit to an "Outage? 3 or more constitute and "Outage." I as a customer should not have been the one to discover this provider's problem. And for me to get credit I must tell them how long they were out. It would seem that they company would know when they had trouble and credit accordingly. I'm now checking into wireless I-net through my cell-phone company. Anything to get out from under these incompetents.

I have had TVMax for less than a week and I am switching to DirectTV.
1. We had an appointement scheduled on Wednesday to connect our service. They rescheduled for Friday and did not tell us. We had to call them to see what was going on. That was a day wasted off of work.
2. On Friday when they came it took three seperate technicians to install our cable and internet and then they left without checking out the cable reception and if the internet worked. Both were down.
3. Saturday we spend HOURS on the phone trying to get internet problem and cable reception fixed. They can not send someone until Monday.
4. Monday a guy comes and changes the signal downstairs to correct our reception. We think all is good until during Monday Night Football our cable goes out and when it comes back up our reception is bad. We call and they can not get someone out until Wednesday,
Everyone we have spoken to has similar stories with this cable company, It is a shame that our nice apartment complex does business with such a poorly managed cable provider. The customer service is terrible!! I have had Comcast, Atlantic Broadband and Time Warner and have never had any problems. The constant phone calls and hassle is something my husband and I could have never imagined. It has gotten so bad that we take turns calling because we are so frusturated.
This is my first time posting but I felt that people deserve to be warned.

Wow, where do I begin. They are the most unprofessional, no good, lying, scamin', can't get their S**T together, most terrible cable service EVER!!!. I mean C'mon the damn thing dont even work!!!!! When you call they can't even assist you properly because they dont know what the hell they're doing. They just send the technician to your home who cant do nothing for you and is just a waste of your time. What's worse the Tech agreed with all my complaints and told me that he cant do nothing for me because the problem is with the digital service itself. He told me they are still doing upgrades to the boxes. So let me get this right , they know it doesnt work, upgrades are still being adjusted but they are going to force us to get the new boxes anyway....um sounds like a scam to me. Everything was fine the way it was before. But NOOO they had to change all the boxes, charge you more and add on extra fee's for some piece of S**T that doesnt even work. You can never check the guide to see whats about to come on or if you do its never accurate. And can someone please tell me what the hell is a 'NO EPG" what the F*** do you mean NO EPG, I want to know what the hell Im watching instead having to flick through ever freakin channel. Oh and the best part.....when I'm watching a really good show or game the damn thing blacks out! Now what the hell is that about. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! It really upsets the hell out of me! The worse thing about it they have a contract with my complex so even if I wanted to change service I cant. Where does this company even come from I mean who the hell is TVMAX, I've never heard of them....I guess this is why....

When I called to install they offered to come out the next day. Same thing when I had an issue with my digital box. Simple fix, unplug the power and back in and it worked great. I had two other companies where I lived before and it took them weeks to come out and then the service wasn't that great. Not sure why so many others have issues. Call center wasn't the best but at least I wasn't on hold for 15 minutes. Answered pretty quick, the rep I spoke to wasn't that informed but did get my order placed.

I agree with all of you who have said that TV Max is the worst. I too lived in an apartment complex (The Villages At Meyerland) where there was no choice, no options. We looked into Dish, but the apartment complex wanted $300,000 worth of liability insurance "in case the dish flies off and hurts someone". I think it's more than a scam, it seemed that the complex was in kahootz with TV MAX.

Absolutely the worst reception, service, billing issues EVER ANYWHERE.
Nuff Said.

TVMAX IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. If I wasn't forced to use this God-awful, moronic, monopolistic excuse for a company, I would drop them in a heartbeat. I can't believe a company can get away with using the ancient equipment they provide (which they probably bought from other cable providers when they upgraded...IN NINETEEN-NINETY F***ING SIX), providing no HD, terrible reception, inept employees, overpaying for NOTHING, and my inability to CHOOSE my provider based on a joint venture by these con-artists (TVMax) and my apartment complex (in which I'm sure both profit at the cost of tenant satisfaction). I'm paying $60-70 / Month (depending on whatever the hidden fees are that month) , FOR JUST CABLE, if you can even call it that, most of the time I can barely tell what I'm watching.

EVERYTHING about this company is trash. The "digital" set-top box (a more-efficient means of delivering an analog signal) is enormous, and only has RGB Component outputs (WTF is this 1985? Christ, I'm not Marty McFly). It also has a phone jack on the back. A F***KING PHONE JACK!? That should integrate nicely with my LCD TV. Even the name is trash, TVMax, wow, I would like to meet the marketing brain-children that formulated that jewel. Their website looks like Stevie Wonder was at the helm doing the HTML, and there isn't a FAQ section, because replying to "Why do you lick one?" thousands of times would get boring. Everytime I see or hear the name TVMax, I want to throw that pile-of-s*** box across the room.

HOW CAN A COMPANY LIKE THIS LEGALLY EXIST!? They have de facto monopolies on multi-unit dwellings like apartments effectively eliminating the right to free market. BE SURE TO CHECK WITH AN APARTMENT BEFORE YOU MOVE IN, IF THEY SAY TVMAX...RUN...you're better off. Anyone who says they actually like TVMax is an employee or an idiot.

I'd have to say it's pretty sad that a cable company stinks so freaking bad that I would avoid moving into another place if TvMax was the only cable company available. THAT SAYS A LOT! I swear the last time I called the lady answered, "Yeah dis be Shanita wit TvMax what can I do fo' ya today sir?" WTF kinda $h1t is that!?!??! $50 dollars for basic cable!???! My GOD!!! DirecTV is only $30 dollars a month!!!!! And the guy below mentioned the website, HAHAHHAHHAAHHA OMG....more like a third grader built that website jeez. There are too many bad things to list about this company. Just believe what you read on this site. All around horrible company, they should be ashamed of themselves. HIGHWAY ROBBERY FOR SURE. I don't even know where to start in criticizing so lets just make a list.

1. No HD Service. Yes, that's right. There's still a cable provider out there that does not offer HD programming. I've asked about it numerous times and they tell me that they aren't sure when the service will be available. So if you're moving into an apartment in the Houston area anytime soon, make sure to inquire about whether TVMax is there. If it is, save that money for something else than a beautiful new flat screen.

2. Sporadic commercial interruptions. By sporadic I mean that I was watching the end of a very exciting Big East Basketball Tourney game on ESPN last year and with less than one minute left TVMax decided to inject some more excitement into the game, by cutting away from the action and putting on a car commercial. Did I say inject excitement? I meant anger. This is more than a freak incident, it happens VERY FREQUENTLY (4 or 5 times a day) and on any given channel.

3. Internet complications. When the service is working, it's great. However, like the comment below mine describes, that access is subject to their arbitrary and limited ability to supply it to you.

Ok, that's enough. Just don't move into a place that is shackled by TVMax service if you care anything about watching sports.

Pros: Service is limited to small unfortunate group of apartments.

Cons: It exists.

.

Oh that's right - they suckered several apartment complexes to sign 25 year contracts. A quick way to sum up this terrible service is to check out the website that looks like it was designed by a 5th grader. "What's new?" PPV and paying online. Really? If by "new" you mean "been available for every other cable provider for 10 years," then yes. No HD? No DVR? Enough said - horrible.

Tvmax should do us all a favor and shut down until it's ready to reemerge into 2008.

Pros: as soon as their contracts are up with apartment complexes, hopefully they will go out of business

Cons: everything

Run. Sell your stock. Move if you must. Before you rent in Houston, make absolutely sure that there are options. Billing does not match what you signed up for. I thought I had a deal. $60 a month. I've had nothing but problems with the cable and internet service. And i'm being billed in excess of $110 a month. Try to complain. No one cares. if you have a problem, make sure you've got a lot of patience, and then don't be surprised if you get no satifaction. My techie son had to help THEIR techs (outsourced btw), to fix a major problem with their internet service. Turns out, they use a technology that rolls through the IP addresses (tech issue way over my head), but what it means is that sometimes they run out of IPs, and guess what?, you're out of luck until other neighborhood users get off the internet.

I've lived in many places throughout the nation, and I've NeVeR seen anthing like it.
How this company is still in business is beyond me. But i know why they haven't been swallowed up by bigger fish.

I challenge the owners to respond to this review. I just cancelled my service, and i'm sure i'll owe them for the rest of my life.

please sing along ...

i DONT WANT MY MTV, if it means i have to get it from TVMAX. TV "max" ... what a joke.

Cons: Billing incorrect. Many Internet drops. Poor customer service.

First off, every month since February my paper bill has been different than the amount I am told to pay when I call in to pay over the phone. I'd say about a $15-20 difference. Every month I have to explain to the rep what is going on and fax in the bill. I have even had to go to the regional office here in Houston, which did not help. They just say that it is the company that does their billings fault. Back in April I had a supervisor call me and tell me that they were going to credit the amount that I over paid. So, do you think they actually credited my account? Hell no. So, now I have this so called XD TV that goes out and the guide says "No EPG" on the majority of the channels. I pay $4 extra month just to be able to watch the channels that I pay $104 a month for. Then on top of that, there are no Cinemax channels and only one HBO. I called and the rep stated that they care trying to fix that, yet I'm paying full price. When I got the new cheap box, I informed them tha I had all the channels, but they put me down for Deluxe. I told them that all the channels were working on my cable and not to change it. Two reps told me that it would stay the way it is. Guess what? Yesterday, my extra channels stopped working. I'm not even going to call them again. i'm not paying any more bills and I will be contacting the Consumer Rights division of the OAG for their billing practices. I have lived in 3 apartments that have TV Max and in each one I had to pay extra to have jacks installed to watch tv. Now, I can only watch my wonderful cable on one tv, because I refuse to waste $60 per a jack. So TV MAX, you will never see another red cent of my money. Good day.

Pros: None

Cons: The people who run TVMax and there are many others....

No need to go into the details of not having service for 3 weeks after paying for everything they asked for and wasting hours in my apartment waiting for the TVMax technician Unicorn that does not exist. RECOMMENDATION: go into the Texas business bureau AND the Texas State Attorney General's Office websites and file a complaint online. That's what I did and I got all my money back + a slur of useless drooling apologies from TVMax. It takes only a few minutes. OBJECTIVE?: put them out of business altogether. These guys don't belong in the US... The one star rating is because the system does not allow me to select minus 5 stars.

First of all my cable went out for two days I called them on the second day and they sent out a representative to fix my cable, but wait, the day that I called there was already someone here fixing the same problem, why couldnt they have them fix mine? regardless, a guy came yelling on his cell phone and cursing in the parking lot. He said there was an outage for all the apartments in my "block" many of my neighbors have satellite so they didnt have this problem. he said that he needed to call in another guy and that he would be here in 20 minutes, the guy left, and no one showed up i called them back complaining this was SUPER BOWL SUNDAY WEEKEND, they said a manager would call me back, no one did. i called back the next day, saturday, and i opted for spanish because for some reason that has gotten me further, but then a woman came on speaking english and i demanded it be in spanish but apparently there is no spanish opt. on the weekend even tho its on the menu. so the next day i have my husband talk to a rep in spanish, the guy was TALKING BACK and OVER him, NEVER IN MY LIFE has that happened. I want to talk with the Better Bus. Bureau but they need it to be written and the process is too long. My cable was out 6 days. they said it was the wiring on the complex, so after a year of service the wires all of a sudden stop working, and i talked to the complex and they said no its not the wires and they werent made aware of the problem. the worst part is that my complex is contracted with this horrid company and I can't switch to another company. THEY NEED TO BE REPORTED.

Now it's MY fault I 'm having bad experiences with TVMAX. This company is a joke. This isn't the 1st time that I've been told the problems that I have with TVMAX service is due to something on my end, not their's. I've been told that the router I use is bad (but I have 2 routers, so I guess both of them coincidentally quit working at exactly the same time); been told that the modem was bad; and was just now told that the reason they're having trouble crediting me for the month my Internet service was down was because I didn't "call" them. *blank stare* Are they kidding? Here's what happened. I'd spoken to Diane in the regional office earlier in the day about my issue. Originally, I'd called to speak with Sandra, the manager. But, Diane took it upon herself to look into my problem. Diane basically told me that TVMAX wouldn't give me a credit even after I directed her to call Ignition and look at the notes from Ignition verifying how they'd been at fault. I told her I didn't want to speak with her and that I wanted Sandra to call me back. I also left a very irritated message for Kenny Walker, the General Manager.I never did speak to Sandra because she had Diane call me back to tell me that TVMAX had changed their mind and would give me the credit. BUT HERE'S THE KICKER-Diane was instructed by Sandra to tell me that it was my fault the service was down. Apparently, neither Sandra nor Diane know for certain the proper process their company takes when issuing a work order. Sandra said I should've taken these steps to get a work order: Call TVMAX (You won't speak with a TVMAX rep because they transfer you to Ignition). Tell Ignition your problem (Ignition says "we can't help because the one button we pushed shows your Internet is working"). Call TVMAX back to get a work order for repairs that Ignition can't fix. Hmm, all the other times, Ignition sent the work orders in. But, now the customer is supposed to call TVMAX back when Ignition fails on their end.

Pros: Pros do not exist with this company

Cons: Management does not take responsibility, Inferior Internet service, bad pricing, lousy customer service, cable constantly out, will not give credit when it is due

I signed up on here just to leave a review. How bad is that?!

The one review on here with more than one star obviously came from the owner of the company.

I called and talked to Joanna. I mentioned I had received a post card in the mail a few months ago, saying I needed to come in and switch out my cable boxes. I wanted to know if I could still do that.
Joanna informed me I would need to fax the card to her, so she would know what I was talking about. I told her I no longer have the card, as it was several months ago. She kept requesting that I fax it to her, although I kept telling her I no longer have it. She said she had trouble believing something like that went out to customers if she didn't know anything about it.

I asked to speak with a manager, and she said she could not connect me, but she would fill out a form. WHAT??!!!! I asked what the turnaround time on that process would be, and she asked me to explain my question. SO, I asked, how long will it take for someone to call me back? Joanna's answer -- I don't know.

I am appalled at this kind of customer service;
1) that she would question if that card ever existed, as if I'm making it up, and
2) that a form has to be filled out for me to talk with a manager or supervisor.

I have complained to my apartment complex before, and I'm tempted to put a petition together, having my neighbors sign it, to get rid of TVMAX. This is the worst customer service I've seen in a long time, and that's really saying something.

I expect to be contacted regarding this matter, but trust me, I won't hold my breath. I've seen their customer service in action.

Been a TVMax "customer" for 2+ years now.

1) The cable sometimes goes out and sometimes channels we pay for we don't get.

2) They bill us 5 days before we get paid and cut off our service for non-payment EVERY MONTH. And every month we call them and have them turn it back on by telling them we are paying in 5 days. They will not adjust our bill date.

3) They filter your internet. Don't plan on doing any file sharing (doesn't matter if it's legal or not). If you do manage to file share don't do it at high speeds or they'll disconnect you.

4) My neighbor has been flooding me offline for over a week now and they still let him have internet service.

5) The internet connection randomly drops out (but not very often).

6) Their DNS servers are bad.

7) They charge a lot for very little

8) The sales people lie to you about services/fees. We had them confirm something like 5 times and then when the bill comes it turns out they're lying.

9) Have you seen their "home page" recently ? Google it.

Do not use TVMax under any circumstances. AT&T is now offering UVerse in many areas where TVMax operates. Go with a real company, not "TVMAX".

I created an account on Citysearch just to write this review because I am so infuriated with TVMax! Their billing system is unimaginably bad. I was not sent bill for a couple of months, and when I finally received one, I had been charged with a bunch of services I did not request. When I called them to ask about it, they said that for some mysterious reason my bills had not been sent out to me. Of course this is not the first time it happened. Once I could put down to human error, but twice just means that they have lousy business practices. When I asked them to tell me exactly what I was being billed for, they could not give me a straight response. Their internet service is a joke. Sometimes it works fine, but most of the time it moves so slowly almost to the point of not working at all. Calling customer service about this does not help either as they insist I must have some form of virus on my laptop(yeah some virus that only make my internet slow when using their service).
There is alot more negative things I could say about this company, but it is not really worth wasting my time on. Just be warned! If this is the only cable service available to you, get DSL and satellite. As other people have said, you would be better off with no service at at, it is really that bad. Unless you are a masochist or just like wasting money.

I won't repeat what other negative reviewers have said. I agree with all of them. But this company's latest scheme is even worse than bad service. TVMax is "upgrading" its service. Or so they say. Actually, all they're doing is changing to a newer guide channel for their digital subscribers. That's it. However, those of us that have older digital set-top digital boxes will have to trade them for newer ones. We have 2 weeks to take our boxes to the TVMax "office" and pick up a new one. The "office" is over 40 miles round trip from our apartment complex. If we don't trade out the box we will no longer have a guide and the remote will no longer work with the box we have. I can't believe any company (IS this a company??) would put this kind of burden on their customers. There oughta be a law!!!! The customer service rep says this is the fastest way to accomplish this changeover. Yeah. For the company, not for the customers. Their website email form is no longer working. Hmmmm..... Stay away from TVMax.

This is mainly directed at the guy saying that TVMAX is great. TVMAX is not really a company anymore. They are based in Houston, but that is only because the CEO lives in Houston and he works out of his living room. TVMAX has no corporate offices, they sold them. That guy that comes and installs your TVMAX box, he doesn't even work for TVMAX. That phone number you call for help, they don't work for TVMAX either. TVMAX has absolutely no corporate infrastruce, and they are only staying afloat by forcing consumers in apartment complexes to use them. The TVMAX company is for sale, so somebody please, COMCAST, buy them out. No high definition? How the hell do you survive nowadays without offering high definition? I used to have Comcast, but I moved and now I am forced to use TVMAX. All of a sudden, I just quit watching television. TVMAX is that bad. They do not provide jobs to people in your community and they are no more local then Comcast.

Pros: I spend more time with the dog now that I have TVMAX and dont watch TV anymore

Cons: No high def, cable box is from the 80's, terrible service, who charges to hook up outlets in your apartment? (9.95 per outlet)

I agree with all the ratings. WORST CABLE Company, live without Cable rather than taking service from them. Save atleast 50-60 dollars minimum per month. No promotions, no quality of service you pay way too much compared to other quality service providers. TV Max usually go into apartment communities signing deal to not allow any other competiton( because than noone will take them comparative), they pay management a monthly share, so all apartment management also becomes partners in ripping customers off. Avoid them, live with Antenna...

I have used every cable/internet provider in Houston, and TV MAX has the most inconsistent internet I've ever come across. To put it quite simply, my internet went out 2-3 times a day, randomly, and I'd have to call them. I gave them 2 stars because it's nice to call a company and get to talk to a real person within seconds of dialing the number. All of their employees are very friendly as well. If only their product was as excellent as their staff.

Check the Other Review "Great Service Great peeps" - This is the ONLY review that has all 5 starts.. And ALL else are one.. why. Its clear that the TV MAX service is the worst in market. Their employees or someone there atleast saw it and thought of fooling people and wrote this review.. Man, today people are smart enough to understand what is happening..

Now regarding TV MAX.. Trust me.. it is by far the worst service I have come across regarding anything.. I travel almost every week and am a senior executive with a company and I come across many service opportunities BUT I have never come across someone worse than them.

Their Internet service is just too bad to even write something about. Their internet will be there when you don't need it and won't be there when you do. If you call their OUTSOURCED call center to some office in California, they will either be closed, on long hold or just won't be able to do anything about your problem. Then they will Escalate the call to TV MAX where someone from the office will visit to inspect if all is well.. NOW, most likely this person will NOT be available in the next one week or so.. so you will end up with NO Internet for more than 10 days and you won't be able to do anthing about it.

I wish I was the only person with whom all this happened.. I met 4 more people in the same apartment complex and as we don't have any other cable TV option, all of us had TV MAX and all are just angry and frustrated with TV MAX and will LEAVE them with first available opportunity.

If you want to learn about how to make people insane by offering them something NO ONE else can, charge them a whole lot of money (I pay 95+ per month for internet and cable TV other than installation costs and modem costs) and then NOT offer them the same thing.. then go and work with TV MAX.

If you are still reading.. I will say, just go with someone else or learn to live in stone age but DON'T get TV MAX at any cost.

THE WORST INTERNET AND CABLE SERVICE YOU CAN PAY HIGHLY FOR

You will pay about $95 per month for internet that is highly unreliable and then you will be frustrated and call them. Either they will not be there as it is NOT their working hours or they will just not answer your phone or if you are lucky until now, then you will not get the problem resolved... And don't worry, you will have to do this 1-2 times a week, generally when you need the internet the most.

Cable service will be unclear.. the table of contents will show something and you will watch something else on the channel and many other things..

If you have any other, I repeat ANY OTHER option, take it. I got stuck as I moved in an apartment where the only way to get internet on month to month lease is TV Max. I would rather live in stone age than be with them..

And if you have already paid them.. GOOD LUCK.

Cons: Internet service, customer service and clarity

I called TV MAX because I thought I was stuck with them at a new complex I moved into. I've had them in the past because I did not want to get stuck with a 1-2 year contract with a satellite company and it was just "ok" service so I knew what to expect.

I was quoted around $152 (setup) for digital TV service and broadband internet. Ok, that's pretty steep but whatever. Per month it would have been around $89. The tech comes out to the house to set everything up, just looks at the drops in all of the rooms (never goes in the wall) and says, "it will be $60 per drop to upgrade the connection". $180 on top of the $152. CASH, no money order or cashier's check OR personal check OR credit card.

I asked to talk to his supervisor and he said, "Call TV MAX, I need the money now or you don't get connected". I told him, "No, I want to talk to your supervisor". He calls his "supervisor". His "supervisor" tells me to "Call TV MAX". I promptly told him to get the hell out of my apartment.

I figured I'd go with DSL from AT&T and just use TV MAX for basic 67 channels or whatever but apparently AT&T now has a service called "U-Verse" - basically all digital TV & internet over the phone lines. I signed up for that for around $120 and while it is around $20 extra per month ($109), I get HD, much faster internet (3 meg up, 1 meg down), 300 channels including 35 different movie channels AND 3 HD receivers & 1 DVR at no charge.

So if you think you're stuck with TV MAX, YOU'RE NOT! Call DirectTV. Call AT&T & see if you qualify for U-Verse! Call Dish Network! Whatever you do, stay away from these scam artists! Vultures like TV MAX need to be kept at bay from preying on the ignorant! And heaven forbid you ask to talk to a supervisor. I still think that guy was just trying to pocket the extra $180.

Pros: None that I can think of

Cons: Just read the review!

it's a shame that most of the people who write these reviews are usually the ones that are angry about getting charged late charges for actually being late or blame technicians for things that are out of their control. TVMAX is one of the better, friendlier, LOCAL companies that are supplying cable and Internet to the properties that the big corporations don't want to deal with. If it weren't for TVMAX, many people wouldn't have any service to complain about at all, OR they'd be paying twice as much.

Give TVMAX a chance, and remember that they are a LOCAL BUSINESS, headquartered right here in Houston, giving your friends and neighbors jobs.

Pros: Local company, friendly people.

I used TV Max because I was required to at my apartment complex, and it has been a horrible experience. It's been said in previous reviews, but I would even go to the extent that I would not move into a new complex if that's the only cable provider they offered. My internet went down at least once a month for several days at a time. I made several wasted trips home during the day for them to look at my equipment, only to learn that it was their service down. They don't offer DVR, the audio quality is horrible on most channels, the service men I met were completely unprofessional, and I've had billing problems as well. Anything would be better than TV Max...

I am assuming that TVMax signed the deal with all the apartment complexes before satelite and dvr really took off. They do not offer any of the premium services, but the price is still just as much as the other companies. Not to mention they had a tendency to forget to send a bill. I had to call them and ask for it, or wait until they send a disconnect notice. I turned several apartment complexes because the cable provider was TVMax, and didn't have a unit where I could get a dish. A couple of my friends did the same thing. Finally, you will notice that nobody that lives in a house has TVMax. That is because nobody actually wants it. The only people that have it are forced to have it.

I don't know how TVMax is still in business! First off their programming is expensive and incomplete. They don't offer any kind of DVR service. Their customer service is a joke, unfriendly, incompetent and hostile. They are unorganized to the point where I have been double billed 3 seperate times! Their cable internet is expensive and painfully slow. I have switched to DSL and satelite and it is cheaper, faster, I have a DVR, and the service is friendly and helpful. I have told my Apt. complex to drop them also, and you can see the majority of units here have satelite dishes now, even the manager wants to switch.
