But I love Jazzercise. I began Jazzercising at the North West Recreation Center about 4 years ago. I walked in fully intending to never come back. I have never been much for dancing... and I have never been big on exercising. I use to say "if I can't smoke and drink tea while doing an activity, than it isn't worth doing." I was dragged kicking and screaming to my first class. A friend recommended to me to help me lower my cholesterol. I'm a life long vegetarian and a vegan for over 10 years with 300+ HDL/LDL levels (yes, a total contradiction, right)!!!!
I took my first class.... and failed miserable at every move... but something about the class made me come back, and back, and back again! It's never the same! Since I started Jazzercise I am no longer a smoker and I lowered my cholesterol without modifying my diet. Plus my HDL shot up 40 points! And... the best part of Jazzercise is that I finally learned how to dance. I began jazzercise not knowing how to shake my hips (FYI: it is all about the knees)... to being a person that is complemented on their dancing! I try to go to class whenever I have a free moment. There are a ton of locations around Austin. NWRC is just one... but my favorite. They have classes all day long! I love the women I have met and the dance moves I've picked up. I've never met a Jazzerciser I did not like. We (Jazzercisers) come in all ages, sizes, and hip shaking abilities. All are welcome and all enjoy a new face. I cannot recommend Jazzercise enough. I only wish I could get Jazzercise on demand on my TV... that way would could shake my hips all night long!

Pros: cost, locations, variation in moves and music, and friendliness of the instructors and students

Cons: the music is top 40 and not indie enough for me... but I still love dancing to it!
