Ran is a nice guy, but the best coffee in town??? Not by a long shot.He just happens to be convenient as well as bein a nice guy. Pleeeeaase. He has a captive audience being the only coffee shop in Austin Diagnostic Medical Center which houses a ton of employees plus all the visitors. He very likely told everyone in the building to go on the web and vote for him.
I met Ran and he is an extremely nice person, with great service. What I did not realize his coffee shop is a stand located in a hospital in North Austin. I'm sure Ran would agree that if he is serious about coffee, he would minimally move out of the hospital. As is now (minus exceptional service), there is not a whole lot to compare with corporate hated Starbucks or Dunkin Donut's in the northeast.
Pros: Ran is Great, Service is good
Cons: Beans are average, It's in a hospital, It's a stand!
At both locations, the staff is awesome. They all remember the name of regulars, what they order, etc. Ran is like a good friend, shrink and bartender for everyone. The other employees of this family business are just as great, also. As the other reviewers mentioned, he will make you a perfect cup no matter what it is you like - Chai, Mocha, plain coffee or some custom concoction...ask Ran for an FP for an over-the-top treat!
Pros: Awesome Service, Spectacular Product
Cons: Too many people go to, places like Starbucks, ...
Of all the cups of coffee in the world, I would choose Ran Smith's.
Pros: Customer Service, Value added, Special
Best cup of Joe in town. Funny to see this David vs. Goliath (read: Starbucks) scenerio play out and the local boy is winning. Way to go. Americano's are the best at Ran's place.
Pros: inappropriate touchin
Absolutely the best coffee shop in town or anywhere else.
Pros: Friendly, Comfortable, Friendly
Cons: too far from home
Ran always remembers you and what you want, and I only go in every other week. Good prices, with frequent "drinker" card. Excellent quality coffee and Tea. If you are in NAMC, best coffee around. Only downfall is prices are similiar as Starbucks.
Not only does Ran make the best cup of coffee in town, he serves it up with a smile and a friendly comment!
Born and raised in Austin, Ran Smith Coffee Co should be on every corner!
Pros: always good, customer service
Cons: need more locations
Ran's coffee is always fresh roasted !!!!
His service is fast and friendly...
Ran jump-starts my day with a great cup of reasonably priced strong coffee (which I prefer) and he does it with energy, enthusiasm and a generous splash of humor. I always leave with a smile and a steaming cup of my favorite ready to face another day of the grind.
Pros: Friendly, Helpful, Fun
Cons: None Perceived
GREAT COFFEE AND FRIENDLY SERVICE.
THIS IS FROM SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT DRINK
COFFEE MOST OF THE TIME, BUT I AM HOOKED
ON HIS COFFEE EACH MORNING.
Served with a side of sass, political commentary and sometimes surly smile - You can't help but love this coffee and its proprietor. The Sixth Street Mocha is to die for - served hot or cold - it tops anything this city has to offer.
Pros: Great coffee, Great suggestions
Cons: long line during peak
Great coffee, great company! Ran has a great
memory--can remember what you like after you
have been there a couple of times. Most days has
the coffee waiting by the time I reach the counter
to order. Nice man who brightens even the
darkest day!
Pros: convient, good product
Best coffee on the planet.. It is the first thing i look forward to when i go to work and the first thing i miss on the weekends!!
Ran is very creative. Describe what you like, he'll create a masterpiece! If you don't like it...take it back and he'll make you a new one. What wonderful customer service! He remembers his customers and what they drink. Where else does this?
froth hidden /
heavy sweet mocha nirvana /
empty shadowed styrofoam
Pros: personality +
Ran Smith is more than the best cup of coffee in town. It is a place where he remembers you and what you had before and an opportunity to visit, talk current events, bemoan family crises, and be mutually supportive with a great guy!
Pros: quality, personal service, value
Not an oxymoron for fans of Ran Smith's coffee. Ran Smith's Coffee Company is known to few people in Austin, but those who do frequent the coffee bars are loyal customers who swear by the quality. Located inside North Austin Medical Center and the Heart Hospital of Austin, Ran Smith's customers can count on personal service and an excellent cup of jo. The only disappointment is that it is not more available to the Austin public.
Pros: Personal Attention
Cons: Few Locations
Nothing starts off a day better than a great cup of coffee, a little conversation, and a friends smile. You'll get this every morning with Ran whether your a daily customer, or just someone trying it out for the first time. You see, the reason Ran has such devoted customers is because not only does he make the best cup of jo in town, but he has perfected something that you have a hard time finding in Austin these days; customer service.
Ran offers the best of a one man show. He remembers all of his customer's names and coffee preferences. It is more like having a good friend getting you a cup rather than some stranger from a "Java Borg" like Starbucks.
Pros: personal service
This guy serves a great cup of joe. Even better is the discussion that comes with it. Whether it is about family or politics catch Ran when there isn't a line and he will sit down a talk for hours.
