I feel that this could be a really hot nightclub if just a few things were changed. Clientele - they should advertise for a older(as in 24+ crowd). The preppy college crowd just doesn't fit here. Also, a little more glamour a little

We had a dinner reservation for last night for a party of 7. The reservation was made a month in advance. We even called the day of and told them we would be 20 minutes late. We also had multiple communications with various employees

You can find it from the south pretty easy, just get off the SE Expressway at Chinatown/South Station and hope you find some parking! From the north take the exit then a left, then a right, then a left...oh wait...was it a right, the a

Pros: New Hot Spot?

Cons: LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

Okay so maybe I don't get it. Splash opened in September. It has a roofdeck wading pool and kitschy little cabana areas. If you have a roofdeck, you NEED those tall space heaters Christy's in Newport used to have. This is not

They have four legged, fast moving friends. Although the martini I had was good (Rainbow Martini), I can't go back to this place after seeing several insects!

Seeing that there hadn't been a negative review about Ladies Night in a while, we decided to try it. I called for the details and was told up front that there would be a free 3 course meal with a $10 minimum drink purchase per person. This sounded reasonable so we made a reservation for 6:30. When we showed up the host kindly explained that even though we had a reservation, we had to sit at the bar for a half hour because "that's how it works." I asked if we could order our drinks at the table and she said no because that's how they do ladies night. The drinks were $10 each, but good sized and tasty. After exactly a half hour I went back to the host stand and specifically told her that we've been at the bar for a half hour and would like to be seated now. She said she'd get us in a few minutes and she did at 7:07. (Not bad..) The food was great. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer which we knew would cost extra but it's so good and the salad, steak tips and dessert. The 3 course meal was quite good and our server was terrific. He automatically added 18% gratuity to our bill and so with 3 martinis 1 appetizer and two 3 course meals, our bill was $53.00 total. We may do this again, and if we do we will definitely call ahead again (people were waiting much longer than us) and then if we order an appetizer we'll do it at the bar while we wait out the mandatory half hour drinking period. And ladies... don't expect to meet too many guys at ladies night.. aside from the men working there.. it was a completely female crowd.

good humus, but bad service, will not go back even if the meal was free. The only problem is that it is one of the few places open till 5am in boston. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

News is a great place for a number of reasons: GREAT FOOD (try the spinach and artichoke dip and the salads), very friendly service from the bouncer outside to the waitstaff, very comfy atmosphere, and tasty drinks. As far as the people that complain about the waiting...do you know anywhere else you can go after 2am for really tasty food (and i'm not talking about the food carts that line the streets by fanueil hall at closing time)? I didn't think so...of course there will be a wait after the clubs and bars get out...but they most definitely don't "favor" clubbers over anyone else...and if someone knows the bouncer...i'm sorry but that's life...that happens everywhere. If you have a problem with it..SPEAK UP! Also, I've never had the tip automatically tacked onto my bill. Don't believe the hype about News not being a great place...I've been going there since it opened and i've never been let down and I don't forsee that ever happening. If you want a great place to go with cool beats to listen to and some delicious food to go along with it...go to News!

The host made fun of me as soon as we walked in for seeming "cranky." Then he insisted we sign in. wtf? He said we would have to wait 20 min which turned into 45. We very politely asked him what was up, and he said he would check on the table, and then he DIDN'T GET BACK TO US. Finally after 1 hour we left. ONE HOUR. When I said we were leaving b/c we waited one hour, the guy disputed that we had waited that long. It had been 57 minutes. They were disgusting.

Valet costs money even though they say it's free. WTF?

My mojito had extra-small mint bits so it was hard to drink.

My friend and I left and got take out pizza, which was fabulous!

NEVER GO TO NEWS!

Tried out the News Ladies Night this past Wednesday and it's probably the worst Boston restaurant I've ever been to. Service is horrendous, the guy at the front is a sleaze, the place looks cheap, and some of the waitstaff had no idea what they were doing.

VALET IS NOT FREE eventhough it's posted on their website AND my girlfriend called before we headed out to confirm it. 5 bucks is nothing for valet but lying is unacceptable.

When we got there, the same guy said we didn't have reservations which is another outright lie b/c we made it the night before for 6 people!!!!

We waited over an hour before we were seated. They just want to make money off of you with the drinks that you buy while waiting since dinner is 'free'. I wouldn't mind the waiting, but I had made reservations!

They should have smaller plates with the amount of food they put on. Salad - measly lettuce with pieces of olives and feta. Steaktips and fries - mediocre, I've had better at a local fastfood joint. Dessert -you call a dollop of pudding/whipcream and crumbs dessert? In the end, I was still hungry. They tack on an 18% gratuity as well.

This is probably one of the worst marketing schemes to get your own restaurant out the gutter.

Our bartender was very ncie, a makes a great martini. The banana split martini was outstanding, and followed it up with our bartender's specialty martini the green monster. If you like fruity martinis this is the one to try, tastes and smells like a Sweetart! They also have homemade chips on the bar that were out of this world.

Been there one time early in the morning on a weekend. Not a very pleasant experience. Mostly they cater the nightclub crowd with big numbers after the bar session in the early morning. I saw a guy wearing suit he is regarded as manger or owner, everybody was kind of his fan with or without any reason just to get in. It's up to them who they will let in or who not to. I stopped by to have a breakfast but since I didn't know anybody even after waiting for almost an hour they didn't let me in. It's just a nightclub type thing. A group of five young women were pushed out because they didn't know anybody. I was not mad however disappointed to see their manner, favoritism and professionalism. Boston is an extremely civilized city. In Brookline and Cambridge I see it it's totally opposite. Probably this one is geared towards the nightclub crowd or nightclubber that's why it's not very sharp and people friendly. If you are going there just for food on a weekend morning you may get a chance however if you are to impress your girlfriend or friends from family or school definitely this is not the place. I would rather wake up at 6 in the morning and go to a better place where they will be glad to serve a nice and clean breakfast with a copy of Sunday edition Globe and a smile.

I never saw so many pretty people in one room! On top of it all a few of the Patriots and Celtics were there def a great end to my night I can't wait to try ladies night this week!!

So I saw a posting on craigslist for a Free 3 course meal at News Restuarant. I had been to News late night but I never knew they had a free meal every wednesday for Ladies. I was amazed that anyone would give away a free meal and there was a selection of steak, chicken or veg all of which was good (our table ordered one of each there was 3 of us) I think I found a new spot for me and the gurls on wed night!!!

got there, had to wait and listen to the incredibly obnoxious and sleazy host who made the most crass remarks to the women in our party. The dinner there is deplorable. Forty-five minutes after ordering, two people in my party got served, and then 10 minutes later, 2 others got served. They finally served the rest of our party 15 minutes later. Of course, the food was cold, tasteless, ill-prepared, uninspired, soggy and of course, undercooked! On top of all that, the service was SO STUPID. I don't expect my waitress to be a physics major at MIT, but our waitress was about as dumb as bricks.
BTW, the worst meal i ever had was at News a year ago.
Don't believe the hype. This place is terrible - unless you like overpriced, watered down drinks, terrible food, incopetent waitstaff and have too much money to spend.

So my girlfriends and I went to News last week for Ladies Night. So we were greeted warmly by the Valet (5$ valet what a deal) attendant opening our doors. Then at the door we were greeted by a handsome man offering to take our coats..

We were then seated at the bar and had one of the yummiest mojitos I have ever had with great conversation from a bubbly cute lil bartender. We had a 15 min wait at the bar to be moved to a table in the front of the restaurant candles lit and plush leather couches surrounding us. Basically to sum this up great food me and my girlfriends had a well needed night out and all we had to do was pay for drinks a tip and valet!!! I will be back every week for our sex in the city night.

Skip News' Ladies' Night!

"Free valet" = when you arrive, the attendant informs you that parking costs $10. As you are leaving, another insists that it's $5, explaining that their promo has changed even though their website still states that parking is free. "30-minute wait" = an hour or more. Overpriced drinks (and no, you cannot get tap water with dinner--you must purchase a $6 bottle). Deplorable service.

My friend and I spent an agonizing 2 hours at News and each spent $15, between our watered-down $8 gin and tonics, the mandatory bottle of water, and a mandatory 18% tip that is added to the bill (based on the entire meal) even though the blah meal itself was complimentary. Furthermore, this 18% tip is based on an exceedingly overpriced "retail value" of roughly $7 per salad (lettuce and onions) and $14 per entree (mostly carbs). Dessert? A cold, hard cookie.

My friends and I went to Ladies night on Wednesday for the advertised "free dinner" and "free valet." We were horrified after a "30 minute wait" where we bought several $8 drinks turned into 2 hours, to sit down to our meal at 10pm and then receive a bill for 18% mandatory tip on the price of the meal ($84.00 for 3 people) that we got for free. After drinking for 2 hours during the wait and paying the "tip" we were each out $35 bucks. To top it off the valet asked us $5 after he delivered out car. When we asked to speak to the manager about the "free valet" he insulted us by saying they forgot to take that advertisement off the web site but if it was a big deal to us, we didn't have to pay "even though we just got a free meal."

spot for the young and old. This place gets really busy after 2:00am. I recommend reservations but if you don't have them, try and get there before 2.
There are rooms that you can reserve that have couches and coffee tables for dinner or coffee. The atmosphere is excellent and the waitstaff is attentive and helpful. The food is spectacular as well. A great, classy, chic place to see and be seen after hours in Boston.

This is a great addition to the Boston dining scene, especially for when you are dining with a group of people with differening tastes. If you cannot find something on the multi-page menu that suits your taste, then you have bigger issues than where to eat. And, EVERYTHING is good. You wouldn't think that this kind of menu would have good sushi, but it is really outstanding. I've also had the steak tips, which are over the top as well.

Pros: Ambience, Drink Menu

Cons: Service, Food

.

News is an enormous leap forward from the blue dinner it was a year ago. Sitting in the elegant dinning area one is almost in shock from the smooth tunes and the lack of dragqueens. The owners did an amazing job rebuilding the place. Giving it a complete makeover into a place that one can go have dinner choosing from a vastly diversed menu or just hang out with friends and have a drink in the lounge area while watching one of the plasma TVs.

Pros: open all night, large menu, relaxed atmosphere

Cons: poor parking, in leather district

whether it's a lunch, dinner or after clubbing meal, News is perfect for the occasion. the menu is extremely affordable and surprisingly, the food is excellent as well. my favorite has got to be the Steak Tips - hmm, hmm good! The chocolate chip pancakes are to die for, and i don't even like pancakes! they're incredibly fluffy and unbelievably delicious. the lobster ravioli is also a recommendation. definitely pass on their caesar salads, spinach dip and lobster roll. they don't suit my tastebuds (nor my wallet). the sushi there is pleasantly satisfying. a bit on the costly side for sushi but good enuff if u want a quick fix at a variety restaurant. it's an extremely popular afterhours where on wknds, table reservations are required at 3AM. kinda funny but they seriously dont' serve liquor after 2AM.
