.

I do not have a daughter who attends this class nor would I ever. My sister in law has told me horror stories about what she pays for all the EXTRA's that are involved with going to Joni's Star Dancers. I have never heard of any of the requirements these kids need to take before they can even take a class.

1 - The kids all have to look the same? Dance esp. at an early age should be a fun environment where they learn dance and are able to express themselves. They should not be required to wear everything the same or have to buy what Joni's says. As long as it's not street clothes, it should be fine.

2 - Have some respect and not take every age group...to me, that is all about the money, yes she is in business to make money but its seems that is all it??s about. How can you teach a child how to dance if they can not even use the potty....I know this, because my niece is not potty trained yet, Joni has no problem saying, sure, she can learn to dance (which I found out from this past show, that she did not learn anything). Put an age limit and gain some respect as being a real dance teacher.

3 ?? Does she give the parents of the 2 year olds the option to have the kids in more than one act or does she just let them know when it??s time to pay the ridiculous costume fee that they now need to shell out money for two costumes?? Age 2, two acts, two costumes?something is really wrong?esp. since they did not learn to dance anything.

4 - Why aren??t parents able to have viewings during the course of the year?? What is she hiding behind closed doors (again something I figured out during the last show, she is not really teaching these kids much). She can??t teach kids how to find their number on stage, an older child has to grab them by the shoulders and move them into place. So how do you teach a child to dance if they can??t get themselves on stage? Answer: YOU DON??T TEACH THEM TO DANCE!

5 ?? Who does she know from AVON??? 9 dollars for make up?? Um, can??t their parents put their own make up on their child???

6 ?? What??s with no lap children at the show??? And the sign that reads, all who enters must have a ticket. Toddlers need to pay 15 bucks for that??? JOKE

7 - Assigned seating?.must I say anymore on that??

8 ?? It so showed there was not dress rehearsal. Joni herself was the first act and she pumps into the curtain. HELLO, isn??t she the teacher?no your stage, if she doesn??t know how much room she has, how do the kids??

9 ?? This bothered me the most. DO NOT HAVE OLDER KIDS AND YOUNGER KIDS ON STAGE TOGETHER! For my nieces act (I can??t even call it a dance), the older kid who the children where supposed to watch stood directly in front of two 2 year olds. I missed my niece until she decided to stand next to her. Not to mention when you bring a bigger child on stage, it takes it away from the smaller ones.

10 ?? The acts that did not have an older child directly on stage with them, why is Joni advising her student teachers to do the entire act off to the side on stage? Has she ever heard of having the student teacher directly in front on the floor to help. All the kids looked off to the side?.no faces where facing the audience. That should look really good on the expensive DVD she is selling. Parents can??t video?? Aren??t they paying enough already, it??s there child up there, let them video at least!

11 ?? What was with doing the thank you??s and anv. awards in the middle of the show?hello that is an end of show thing. Not to mention, no one was organized or could be found when she needed them to come on stage (another exp. that a dress rehearsal needed to take place).

12 ?? I just have to add this, because I was embarrassed for them. She had 3 girls dressed really really cute?of course, it??s their show right?.well, the song was ??who??s afraid of the big bad wolf) so she had these cute little girls wear pig noses?.that was real extractive and I bet they were not too embarrassed?.yeah, right.

Joni must think she is a broadway dance producers. I thought for sure with all the restrictions I was at least in for a nice surprise ON FATHERS DAY, did the show really need to be on that Sunday? I was completely wrong, the show was so bad. These poor kids are not gaining any dance advise or learning much?.and I have to say, it looked more like a talent show than a dance recital. I saw no real dance. On a message I saw from June 25, 2006, the props were soooo 80??s?..I laughed when I read the message because that was already in my mind. How she has stayed open for 10 years and hasn??t gotten any of these kinks out yet just blows my mind. Sure she seems to dance really well, but that does not give her the right to call herself a teacher and take peoples money and not give their children a real learning experience.

Joni and her assistant are great with the kids, and overall my daughter had fun. It was NOT fun, however to shell out money for every minute detail. HIDDEN FEES MUCH? My daughter is now having fun, and learning dance at a reasonable price.
