Foundation is probably the only place that I'd goto on Weds nights... good crowd and pretty good music. Though on the weekends, I stick with clubs covered by the InstantNightlife website

Pros: Small so gets packed even when its slow

Cons: Not too lively

Nice bar that usually has a decent crowd any day of the week. Drink menu is always appetizing. 20 & 30s scene at night.

Absolutely, positively, DO NOT go here.

Had a nice experience planning a party here. Was quoted $100 for bottle service and $300 total for a table. When my party of 20 arrived we were promptly brought to our table and we once again asked how much a bottle would be. We were again quoted $100. We ordered two bottles and drinks throughout the night. When our bill came it was $1000! Each bottle of vodka being $280. We tried to discuss the situation in a calm and polite fashion. Staff immediately became defensive and refused to listen. They did not budge on the issue, told us our waitress did not understand because, and I quote, "she's mexican." Then asked me if I was dyslexic, called the cops, and kicked us out. Where's the customer service I ask? The next day I received a semi-apologetic phone message from management. Hmmm.....someone must feel bad for their obvious lack of customer service.

Cons: No Customer Service

I really like this place and sometimes I love it, but it takes forever to get a drink. It takes a while to push your way to the bar, and even though the bartenders are pretty good, it's always super crowded. The music is good, but a little intense. Though it gets overcrowded, it's always a good crowd. So you see, I really like it, but there is always a little something that is a little annoying, so I give it 4 instead of 5 stars.

A few weeks back I attended at party at the super trendy, can't-get-in-after-10pm- without-bottleservice Foundation Lounge. The chic and beautiful venue plays the best music in the Boston nightlife scene - it's just a shame that there was no dance floor! What a waste I thought to myself, as Lady Gaga played in the background...

So instead ending the night with "where are my keys, I lost my phone", I decided to create: The Best of Night Awards!

WInners can be found here: financefoodie [dot] com/2009/02/foundation-lounge

All and all, a sober-but-fun (wait...is that possible?) night with an interesting and entertaining crowd. And I didn't turn my shirt inside out.

And obviously, these awards are all in fun and good spirits :)

If I never spend another second of my life in this bar, it'll be too soon. After have the worst service ever by some firecrotch female bartender (literally asked "if we were serious" when we ordered shots), I expressed to my friends that I thought she was being a B*&^%. I'm allowed to say that to my friends--after more sighs and eye rolling, I expressed to my friends that she was a C*** (rhymes with bunt). Not the most feminine word, but let's be honest, everyone loves to say it. Unbeknownst to me, Firecrotch has like inspector gadget ears and heard my accurate comments. Moments later, I was tapped on the shoulder by a poc-marked manager telling me I made her bartender cry. I expressed the terrible service, stating it was the worst in my life ever by a bartender. Not caring at all, she decided to stand behind her employee and requested that me and my friends leave--mainly me. After closing tabs, getting quasi-molested by the bouncer after I 1) told him I had a boyfriend and 2) was getting kicked out of his low-rent bar and 3) wanted nothing to do with him, and getting my coat from the complimentary coat check, we left. The coat-checkee--is that really a job? demanded we tipped her--yah right. The joke is on firecrotch and poc-mark though. Our group of friends would have stayed there all night-when asked to leave around 11--we had already racked up over $500 tab. Good move. Moral of this story = don't waste your money, oxygen, or time unless you want horrible service and nightmares of poc marks.

I used to go to Foundation every Weds. I used to reserve a table and bring all my friends. I?ve spent thousands in that place. But never again. The drinks are watered down and overpriced, the staff are rude, the door staff obnoxious but worst of all is the manager George Lewis ? one would think he didn?t want to make money. I think he just enjoys being an @sshole to people out of spite. Join me in the boycott of the vulgar man!

Pros: Nothing would make me to here again NOTHING

Cons: RUDE, RUDE staff doormen, manager. Over priced drinks. No dance floor.

First time there on Saturday, and will never go back! The place was packed, the music was obnoxiously loud, the drinks were expensive and watered down, the front entrance staff was full of attitude from the moment you walked in, the place was at least 85 degrees!, and the service was SLOW!

What was really unbelievable was the line to get in this dump as we were leaving...

Havent been to Foundation in quite some time, but heard a commercial over the radio about a new "throwback" night they are starting on Thursdays, so a few friends and I decided to check it out...I always liked the place, but just never think of going out to that part of the city..
anyway, the night turned out great. The service was great, drinks were really good, and the whole night as a whole was awesome. The throwback music was great and being a mid 20 year old, brought me back a bit. It wasnt overly crowded like I heard it gets some nights, but it was very fun and my friends and I really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend The Lounge any night of the week.

Have been partying at Foundation since moving to Boston however the service, staff and drinks/food have gone WAY downhill. Extremely rude bouncers and even worse was the manager, George Lewis who was unprofessional and ruined the mood. I wouldn't go there anymore is someone offered me those free watered-down drinks all night!! Will be going to District from now on for Wednesday nights!! See you there...

worst service. they are impolite and rude. have spent a lot of money there and acted if we have never been there. this place is not worthy of anyone's business. would not recommend. they create lines without any serious business inside.

not worth your time.

i've been to foundation lounge several times and once my friends and i are in, for the most part--we have a great time. however, everytime I go--one of my friends is unnecessarily hassled. apparently, if you have a foreign passport, a green card, out-of-state drivers license (regardless of the fact that you are nearly 30)--the bouncers will be rude to you. and once you are in and have a bad taste in your mouth, the nearly 60 year old bartender will also be rude to you. power trip, anyone?
my friends and i also sense the much of the staff/management are a bit racists.
there are many more places in boston with great music, ambience, atmosphere-etc.
i definitely am not going to patronize foundation lounge again.

Great place to see and be scene in the middle of the week from 12 to 1:30 but make sure you are not thirsty or in the mood to drink. The bar service is obnoxiously slow, and I really don't feel bad letting everyone know because I have bought plenty of bottles there and the bottle service has also been not up to par. Its a great place, I mean yah the sound system is kind of weak, but the parties rock. The outside patio (for smoking) is a plus, and the back lounge is romantic. I would say the bar tenders here get my vote for most undeserved tips. So overall the promotions and parties are great, but the staff deserves a cheer like we give to the Yankees when they play at Fenway.

I used to go to Lansdown Street- right behind Foundation and then tried this place- same great music, same great drinks, but classier atmosphere- the people aren't 'sketchy' and you can sit in the great lounge areas and still get your groove on. get there closer to 12 midnight for the dance club but don't forget they serve good food- I have only had the edamame but it trust the rest of the menu is good. I'm not sure i will ever set foot in a Lansdown club again- PLUS Foundation has no cover!!!!

I've been many times, and I must say I love this place. Yes, it can get a bit crowded, but you're at a very popular nightspot in a city. What do you expect?? The music on Saturday nights is some of the best I've heard in Boston. I highly recommend checking it out. The crowd is fun, atractive, and friendly. The service seems to be getting better lately and staff is friendlier. I love this place and will definitely be going back again soon.

This place needs a big change, managment is very poor !!! and the servers, bartenders need someone to guide them, the owner is running the place now and it seems to be a little to much for one person alone.

The foundation lounge may attempt to target the hip and trendy crowd of Boston.

However its decor and lighting are a glorified trashy style that misses the mark on so many level. The fake marble is more appropriate in bathrooms than bars, the lighting is badly done as some area a pitch dark while others are glaring, and a weird use of plants is noticeable.

Worse than that is the general bartender attitude marred with arrogance and lack of courtesy. In general there is a lack of focus on making the guests confortable.

The following events describe a prime example of the atmosphere at hand:
One cannot place his drink on the bar without being automatically thrown away, no matter how full one's glass is. Bartender confronted with such facts responds with deniability, rudeness and lack of courtesy. The manager's response to complaints on the matter is worthy of mob behavior as she offers to bribe you with a drink without even addressing the issue. The culmination of the events occurs with the expulsion of the guests at the bartender's request with management's complete approval.

Hip and trendy atmosphere starts with the staff's attitude and management's directives. Hefty decor and interesting location are of no use when the latter are non existing.

The foundation lounge tanks by these criteria, as bouncers surpass management and staff by their noted courtesy and handling of events.

I went here with my girlfriends last Friday and have to say I was quite impressed. This was my first time here and I had heard mixed reviews on the crowd and service. I think both were great! Although there was a rather unpleasant wait outside it was deffinately worth it. The music was a bit overbearing at times, but the crowd was eclectic and fun. The bartenders were awesome and although they were super busy they made it a point to make me feel like I was an important customer. I will be coming back here more often.

Went in on a Friday night recently and had a terrible time...Not many people in there and the ones that were extremely drunk and overbearing..the service was aweful..the bartender made my mojito without any mint and when I sent it back I recieved a huge attitude!! The food was OK but not for the price..they just put average stuff on expensive china and think they can pass it off for a $20 meal..Will never go back and you should never bother going...does not deserve the 9.4 rating at all!!!

Now this is a lounge! I have been here a few times and always has been positive. Staff is friendly and left the "chips" far from their shoulders. The atmosphere is full of attractive people, music is energetic, drinks are pricey but you are in one of the better venues in Boston so your getting your money's worth. If you don't want to be in a warehouse turned club or in some wannabe lounge, then chek this place out. You will not have a bad night. PLUS, given it's location, you can always walk to one of the many other clubs/bars in the area that are pretty good in their own rite.

Foundation Lounge is a much-needed addition to the Boston bar/lounge scene. It certainly gets very crowded on Friday/Saturday nights, but call ahead to reserve a table because having your "own" space during those crowded nights makes the experience that much more enjoyable. For a quieter experience here, go after-work during the week, as it's ideal for large groups to unwind and enjoy a few cocktails.

I went there for a birthday party, and a separate room was rented for the party. When we first arrived at 7pm it wasn't that busy, so the waitstaff was attentive. Then when 9pm rolled around I waited for a drink that never came, so we went to the bar to order it. The drinks didn't contain remotely enough alcohol to call them drinks, unless you want to actually go up to the bartender and specifically ask for enough alcohol, which I did. The appetizers were a somewhat waste of calories as the sushi wasn't really sushi it was california maki rolls in different variations. As for the others, I've had better crab rangoon from stop&shop's freezer section, nevermind their over cooked beef on a skewer. Overall the atmosphere was inviting, modern seating, and good music. I will not go back however.

Went here for a light dinner and drinks on Valentines Day and didn't make it past one drink. There was terrible jazz music playing which was so loud you could not speak to one another. I thought that the food would pick things up, but we ordered a $14 california roll (4 pieces) which was literally made with imitation crab meat in a tortialla rather than rice paper. I wouldn't recommend a trip here.
