I do not recommend LunchDates for women applicants. First- the process is far from that of a matchmaker. They did a short phone interview, sent me on two dates, and then met with me for 5 minutes to take my picture for my file. Little

This is a terrible service and a complete waste of time. I have had 0 dates in 2 months. Yes, I was away for two 10-day periods but they knew this way in advance and could have scheduled around it. They set up one date, finally, 30 miles

This service is a waste of time and money. It took them a year to set me up with 10 dates, and most of them were bad matches. Their matching criterion seems to be that they match up two people of roughly comparable age, with no regard to

I paid aprox $700 for 5 dates (in 3 months tops). After more than one year I had two dates and a third date that was never concreted.
The service and attention was awful. After my first meeting with the owner of the company (where I paid)

I am a very happy client and met 8 women before I found the right one. All the women were at least pleasant to spend an hour with. I would have gone on 50 lunch dates to get what I wanted. But i didn't have to.

Some of the women appeared to really like me, but it was suggested that I be really kind and honest about my level of interest in a lunch date. i took one woman's phone number, but I didn't follow through and felt a little guilty. I got better about being honest with my dates and it helped me.

All this scheduling dates and screening the dates for me and getting my approval were so much less of a hassle than the internet. After a few dates it got really easy to get out there and use the process. It does take some intelligence, and Ibecame really eager to meet each one. I was not thrilled with everyone, but it was "dating".

Pros: Changed my life for the better because I met my wife

Cons: I had to go on 9 lunch dates before I found her

I've been using Lunch Dates for about 4 months with some up ups and downs. I like having someone who arranges my dates for me and I like how after each date I have someone I can talk with about it. The guys are definitely nice, which makes the dates worthwhile either way. Right now I've gone out with one guy a few times and there's some potential there so I put my membership on hold for a while. That's the great thing about it... I really like this guy so I put my membership on hold but I can go back on with Lunch Dates if it doesn't work out. The woman I work with, Patricia, is good to work with.

Pros: Good People

Cons: can be frustrating - takes patience

I don't usually do these kinds of reviews. I met my wife through LunchDates and I referred a friend who saw a pretty nasty review. So I thought I would rebut it. While I understand that it doesn't work for everyone, it worked for me, and I've referred a few other friends who, for the most part, had experiences which were okay to excellent.

All of my dates showed up on time. When I had to cancel and reschedule a date because of work, the staff took care of it with no problem. I met my wife on my 7th lunch date. The thing about it is that the dates got better as time went on because of the feedback I gave the dating counselors. They really got to know me because of that and then, of course, I met my wife.

So I would definitely recommend LunchDates. The bottom line is that it was just so much better than using the internet to meet people. That's why I've recommended it to my single friends.

Pros: Friendly staff, interesting people

Problems with this service:

1) The matchmakers are disorganized and will sometimes forget that they are supposed to call you back.

2) The matchmaker I was given was so irritating and had such lousy phone manners that I would sometimes screen her calls to avoid speaking with her.

3) If you don't want to go out with someone based on the little info provided beforehand, the matchmakers will try to convince you that you are wrong and will pressure you to go.

4) I would have had better luck finding compatible people if I picked out people at random on the street.

A few examples of this wonderful service:

1) A friend of mine told her matchmaker that she did not want to date any current or former heavy drinkers. She was set up with a recovering alcoholic who drove to the date on a suspended license.

2) My matchmaker simply set me up with people based on height. I am short and they found short guys to set me up with - it did not matter whether we had anything in common. (OK, so there was ONE guy who was very decent and somewhat compatible, but I started dating someone else within a week of meeting him.) For example, a few things I told my matchmaker was that I am vegetarian and was only interested in educated professionals. The first guy I was set up with told me he did not eat vegetables, did not even know what tofu was (he asked what I ate if not meat), and spent the entire time telling me the careers he gave up on because they required too much working and/or studying.

This was an expensive service and a complete waste of time.

I agree with the review listed. It was a terrible experience. I find it difficult to understand how they are still in business. Take your money and spend it on a trip or for that matter the lottery -it is a better investment. Keep trying but think long and hard about this process. Very antiquated system.
