I stopped in here because it sounded like a very good place to have a lunch meeting for business. Came in wuith a colleague of mine and we sat and wait for our guests to arrive. Staff did not come over at all. Our guests arrived and ten minutes went by before we were acknowledged.

After the SNAFU start everything else seemd to roll fine. The portions were good and the location is easy to find. The food was nothing spectacular. Trendy but nothing that seemed to push the limits or even introduced Papi's DR heritage into a restaurant that he owns!

WIll return only if everywhere else is too busy. I will check out the after work scene once I get the chance.

My wife and I were shopping in Framingham tonight and decided to give the Metro 9 steak house a try. The restaurant was nice in appearance both inside and out. Unfortunately that is only nice thing I can say. The server was polite but inattentive. I had to flag down the manager to find out why our meal was taking so long. Soon after he arrived with our meal and apologized saying the kitchen was backed up even though the place was not even close to full capacity. I was immediately disappointed by the size of my Rib eye after the extra long wait but I was hungry so I proceeded. First I tried the caramelized onion which was so bad I to remove it from my mouth. Next I tried the steak it was horrendous. My wife had ordered the chicken with rice and asparagus. The chicken was extremely greasy and the rice was tasteless. Neither of us has ever refused to eat food served to us until tonight. We asked the waitress for the check which the manager brought to our table. He had discounted the bill down to just the salads which was still too much. We did pay however and left to write this. Please save yourself the time and the money and do not eat there.

My husband and I were looking forward to trying this place as we just moved to the suburbs and were interested in finding a decent steakhouse nearby. The atmosphere of this place is very nice. Classy and fun. However, the food was a HUGE disappointment. The food was came out cold and one plate had to be sent back. Each meal was bland and flavorless. Even dessert was just plain aweful. The wait staff was friendly but inattentive. Unfortunately, we will never go back to this place. Such a disappointment.

Looking for a great place to unwind after work in the Metro West area? Visit Metro 9 Steakhouse on Route 9. Before you sit down for your meal make sure that you stop by the bar for a cocktail and visit Joe, Metro West's favorite bartender. Joe and his bar team are extremely personable, accommodating and treat their customers like guests in their home. If you are looking for a real life Sam Malone, look no further than Metro 9.

My husband and I went to this steak house early on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and the place was almost empty when we arrived, but were seated at the rear of the dining room near the kitchen. Kitchen was so noisy we couldn't hear each other talk. All through the evening large buckets of ice and other supplies were ferried past our table from the kitchen to the bar area. I felt like I was dining in a warehouse.

My husband ordered a steak, which arrived without it's vegetable sides. After reminding the server, the sides finally appeared--cold--and garnished with a dead fly! Truly amazing presentation, even more so that the server didn't notice before bringing it to our table.

We won't go back. There are too many other good steak houses in the area to frequent a bad one.

Went to this fairly new establishment for a nice steak dinner. Got much more than that!!! The steak came out cooked perfect, the decor was perfect, the drinks were top shelf perfect. If you want to go to a place and leave feeling full and completely satisfied and already take out your calendar to plan a return visit then you should try the METRO 9 steakhouse. I can already taste it!!!

I went there on date for a special evening even though I used a gift card that was given to me from a friend and highly recommended this place. We were greeted promptly and seated in a booth on the bar side of the restaurant. This was our choice as the football game was on and I wanted to watch the nice plasma tv's. We ordered and the server was attentive but not very knowledgeable about the wine or the food. I ordered steak and it came out over cooked and warm at best. You expect a steak to still be sizzling when it comes out to you. The steak was cold, the veggies were even colder. Not happy. My dates meal was the same. It was as if they forgot to bring it out to us after it was ready. I was going to send it back but didn't want to look picky in front of my date. We were going to get dessert until we saw the table next to us got something and they were all complaining about it so we passed and got chocolate martini's instead. They were good but they should think about filling the glasses up.
I would not recommend this place to anyone and stick to the better steak houses in Boston or else where. I would also suggest using your gift card soon as they will most likely not be there for long.
The Irish restaurant that was there before was much better.

Went to try it hoping for a good local steakhouse, beautiful decor and thats it.
Young staff totally amatuer.
Waitress had to be prompted to tell us the specials. Took 10 minutes to get a drink on a slow night
Bar liquor mixed into a top shelf drink poorly combined.
Low quality meat sent steak back 3 times because they could not cook it right
watery shrimp cocktail
a real dissapontment Ken's across the street is way better, but not very cosmopolitan, wish they could get Ken's food in their setting.

This was our first time to Metro 9, and we had a great experience from start to finish. Seating was prompt, and service was friendly and attentive. You must try the blueberry martini -- it's like drinking a crisp blueberry pie!

For appetizers, we enjoyed the duck spring rolls. They were hot, crispy, and juicy, and everything including the duck was properly seasoned.

Steaks (rib eye and prime rib) were done to perfection, and accompanied by specialty salts. The crab cake was perfect, and rivaled my wife's own recipe (although I'm not allowed to say it was better :)

Desserts, while delicious, needed more variety of choices.

Prices were affordable for an upscale steakhouse, and without the drive or parking hassles.

Our server tried hard but needed more practice pronouncing culinary terms.

Overall we had an excellent experience, and it was as good as Capitol Grille without the noise, prices and crowd. We would highly recommend Metro 9 above anything else in the Rt.9 strip.

We happen to frequently dine at Metro 9 SteakHouse. As for the place being poorly managed (Summer56), I feel that you are absolutly wrong! Your review was a tad bit harsh for someone that must know his steaks. Sounds to me like someone was jealous that someone else got the bigger piece of meat! If you are such a pro and know your steaks, then you would know that a rib eye has various cuts of meat that are inconsistent to one another. They must cook over 200 steaks a night. Do you think they hand pick to make sure that tables are consistent and get the same cuts?! Probably not! I'm a chef and I know. I would have done the same thing if you dined at my restaurant. The staff and management are very knowledgeable and professional. I'm sure you didn't want to hear that you were WRONG! But it seems as if you were. That is the reason for your nasty review I'm sure. I have seen it before! Where else do you go where the staff is on top of things. Would you have rathered your situation not be taken care of? Like I stated before, we frequent the place and the management is around and about making table visits, talking to guests, handling situations in a timely manner. It's rare to find places like this where management is present rather than hiding in the back or in the office. We have a great experience each time we go. It's finally nice to have a great restaurant that is hip, trendy, and average priced around this area. Metro 9 is a great place. Don't let peoples bad reviews stop you from going. Maybe they should be the ones that shouldn't dine out!

What a mediocre restaurant experience last night 4/6/07. starting with the seafood sampler for 3 appetizer: Lump crab 'smeared' across the ice instead of mounded, and reeking of ammonia (means NOT FRESH), to the 'scant' portions, and the ridiculous presentation on a rickety raised wire platform that puts the contents just 'above eye level' of the patron, so you can't see or serve what's on it--a 'dopey' version of 'tower of seafood' .

Then came the great steak fiasco: two of us ordered the 'rib eye', one came looking like a rib eye steak, 1 1/2" thick, the other was a flat slab maybe almost 1/2" think. It was a slice of prime rib grilled on both sides, and almost brown to the middle (ordered medium). Told the server, who told the waiter, who wanted to argue that it was in fact a ribeye- who then took it back, who sent over a manager, who wanted to also argue that it was a ribeye, but that all the meat comes PREPACKAGED!!!- and that's what you get sometimes..and then ANOTHER manager comes to tell me the same thing.yes they changed the meal--but FOUR people coming to the table as we dined with friends was embarrassing, especially to have to argue with them over this piece of flat shoe leather they wanted to pass off as an acceptable steak. What should be most embarrassing though, is that your staff knows so little about customer service, discretion, what to plate and serve out of kitchen, and what a disgrace it is for the restaurant to put TWO of the same cuts on two plates for one table where one is beyond obviously unacceptable, even at a DENNYS..
Tuna got good review from one companion, both of us thought the steak was tough considering the cut. Again their meat is 'prepackaged'- they dont pick, buy or cut their own, it's really a joke.

We expected another Rt9 dining experience, and you didnt dissappoint.

As someone who frequents The Capitol Grille, Abe and Louies, and other great steak houses in tBoston I was pleasently surprised with Metro 9. In an area over run with chain resturaunts Metro 9 is unique and provides the attention to detail that an original resturaunt thrives on. We did not have reservations, which Is the norm for us since we like to enjoy a drink or two at the bar before eating. The martini list was impressive, my wife enjoying the Pomegranate martini, and I enjoyed the Metro 9 manhattan. The bar atmosphere was enjoyable, many interesting people to meet and talk with. The bar staff was more attentive than I am used to at a steakhouse bar. We where soon seated for dinner. We had the calamari for an app, it was lightly battered and not chewy, par for the course. The menu included a thick cut sirloin, which was something I had never had at the other steak houses, so I ordered that along with the lobster macaroni for a side. The sirloin came out about 2.5-3 inches thick the way you would expect a filet. I enjoy my meat on the rare side and it was cooked perfectly. In speaking with our waiter I found out that they have the high temp ovens that sear the outside and keep the juices in. It showed, nothing against sirloin, but this one tasted like a higher grade steak. The macaroni was excellent, although I have to confess my wife commandeered most of it. I am not a desert person, however my wife raved about hers ( sorry dont remember what it was) while I enjoyed my port. Our waiter was very proffesional and informative and never to far to fill a need. Overall, I enjoyed the food and drinks very much. The look of the resturaunt is great, it needs a couple small finishing touches, but you have to look for them. The service was excellent, all the way around. I really think Metro 9 will save me in two ways, 1) from driving into the city to get a good steak, and 2) saving me some money off the cost of the places in the city.

I really wanted to like it. The area could certainly use a good steakhouse. However, the restaurant failed on so many accounts on my first trip there, that I'm compelled to write my first online review ever.

The restaurant is conveniently located on Route 9, near to the major Natick and Framinham shopping areas. The reastaurant has an attractive bar and and is slightly more upscale than most of the chain restaurants in the area.

The menu contains most of the offerings you would want in a steakhouse, replete with an extensive wine list. However, the dining experience is where the expectations are dashed.

Simply stated, the food is average to below-average, from start to finish. The bread was dry and salad was over-dressed. The crabcakes were lukewarm and were barely edible. The frenchfies were greasy, lukewarm, and were too limp to dip into condiments and needed to be curled to pick-up any catchup!

The steak was a bit undercooked (OK, that's better than overcooked, but they should have gotten it right since it is a STEAKHOUSE afterall). I asked for a pepper-encrusted steak and got one that was plain. Moreover, the meat was a bit on the tough side.

The dessert was none better. I ordered their chocolate dessert and a side of ice cream. What I got was a gingerbread dessert instead AND they forgot the side of ice cream. The bill, was far steeper than the food and service wanrented. We were charged for the side of ice cream and the CHOCOLATE dessert. When I pointed out that we did not eat the Gingerbread dessert because it was not what we ordered, the waitress appologized but did not offer to take it off of the bill. Instaed, we had to ASK her to remove that along with the ice cream side and then had to wait 10 more minutes after she disappeared. We finally had to find a manager to facilitate getting the bill.

OVER-ALL
A disappointing dining experience, but maybe worth trying again in a few months to see if they work out the many kinks.

Really enjoyed our dinner here and will definitely be back. Our party of six was seated right at the time we had reserved (make reservations!) and the service was stellar. Blue cheese olive martini - love, love, love. Caesar salad - marry me. One steak was overcooked and was replaced promptly when we pointed it out. Aside from that, my only complaint is they need one of those chocolate desserts with the molten center. The variety of gourmet salts was a nice touch. Really, really loved the steak. Chopped salad looked great. Loved the atmosphere. Had a great bottle of wine - Freemark Abby (sp)? As for the guy lamenting the wine cellar with the "bottles standing up" if he'd read the sign they had put up it clearly said they were waiting for their shelving to arrive. The place is new, after all. Great spot. I've decided to make this my Valentine's Day spot for the lucky lady in my life (or lucky buddy if she cancels).

We went to Metro 9 steakhouse Saturday night for my wife's birthday. It was highly recommend by a college of mine, so we decided to check it out. We arrived there around 6 PM, without a reservation, and the restaurant was already busy. They open at 5 PM. We had a drink at the bar first. The bar staff was very friendly. I did not catch the bartenders name, she had very short blond hair... a very friendly girl, who made a great martini. We were seated in a very comfortable booth against the wall. Our server immediately greeted us, and introduced herself as Michelle. She took a few minutes to explain the new restaurant, and gave us a lot of detail about the great menu. We had a few questions, and she was able to answer them without hesitation. We opted for a bottle of wine, on her recommendation, and were very pleased with shiraz blend we agreed on. Being a steakhouse, we decided that meat was the way to go. The restaurant quickly filled up around us, as the wait staff was buzzing around. Before our steaks arrived, we were provided with steak knifes, and a unique collection of sea salts. Our water glasses, as well as wine were never empty, as our waitress was very attentive, and engaged in some great conversation with us. When dinner arrived she made sure our steaks were cooked to our liking, and they were cooked to perfection. We all agreed our favorite salt was the red Hawaiian sea salt. We would of loved to try the great desserts we saw on the menu, but our stomachs were full and satisfied with our meals. For anyone looking for a great meal, and even greater service, I recommend Metro 9. We plan to come back very soon, and look forward to trying some of the different specialty dishes!! Great work Metro 9, Framingham was in need of some fine dining!!!

Pros: great food

Cons: parking

Metro 9 attempts to be an "upscale" steak house but falls short.
The one thing you can always judge a good steak house on is the temperature of the meat.
It's not easy to cook a good steak just right, but I expect it from a restaurant that specializes in steaks.
When my waiter served our dinners he asked me to cut into my steak to see if it was cooked as ordered.
I ordered medium and it was definitely rare. He took it back. When my dinner returned, it was now medium rare. I ate it anyway. They are proud of their glass wine cellar, yet it was curious to me that all of the bottles were standing straight up. It's customary to rest bottles on their side and anyone with any experience with fine wine knows this. This is perhaps insight into the sophistication of Metro 9. It "looks" like an upscale steak house, but it's simply not.
If comparisons to its neighbors (Olive Garden, TGIFridays, and Chilis) justify it's claim as "upscale", then I might agree, but if you want a good steak I'd recommend Abe and Louie's, or Capital Grille.

They opened last Wednesday so you should get in while it is still new and not as crowded as it may get. This place was wonderful the sirloin was cooked to perfection with a lot of flavor. Service was great the the waitress definately knew the wines and the menu.
