Pediatric Associates of Hampden County

by Lianne B.

This practice was recommended to me by a friend who is related to one of the staff professionals. I have had good experiences with the doctors and nurses, but the phone and desk personnel invariably act like you are annoying them when you call for an appointment or to ask a question. For example, I once called to see which office would be open that particular weekend, and the woman on the line acted like I was a moron for not knowing this information. ("They ALTERNATE.") Still didn't answer my question. Like she had better things to do with her time. I can't believe they can't find more competent help.

Excellent Pediatricians Office

by Jennifer B.

My three children have been seeing Dr. Callahan and his associates for the past two years. We move over to his office from a general physician's office in Springfield.

What we love about PAHC is about how quickly we are seen. In addition to offering walk-in appointments weekly between the West Springfield and the Westfield offices, they also have been able to offer at least one appointment time within a 24-48 hour window for a urgent care appointment.

I have never had to wait any longer than 10-15 minutes before being seen; even during the end of the summer prior to start of school physicals and screenings.

The one thing that I don't like about the office is that there are a few different numbers to call for different things, and usually the numbers tend to be busy for a short while. There is a separate number for a regular appointment, one for physicals, one for that day appointments, and another number for the billing office.

Unfortunately, the numbers don't have a separate extension number to press either, so you need to have a pen and paper handy to write down the number, the department that it's associated with, and then remember to write it into your address book. It also seems as though there is only the one line that goes in for each number as there are sometimes times that can be spent upwards of 15-20 minutes trying to call back to get to a receptionist rather than having a busy signal.

Even with all of that though, my children love PAHC, and the staff are all absolutely wonderful! If the phone line situation could be taken care of, they'd be at 100%.
