The Liberty Hotel is a blend of history, high-style luxury and hometown warmth-the ideal place for a quintessential Boston experience. Located at the foot of Beacon Hill, The Liberty Hotel is steps away from outdoor fun on the Esplanade, posh shopping boutiques along Charles Street, the financial district, and Cambridge technology centers. The property, a national historic landmark and architectural gem built in 1851, is the imaginative transformation of the storied Charles Street Jail into a 298-room luxury hotel. The hotel offers sweeping views of the city skyline and the Charles River with three distinct food and beverage venues and 6,000 square feet of meeting space. The Liberty Hotel welcomes each visitor with its rich history, a team of passionate New England natives, beautifully-appointed rooms and the latest in modern technology to create an unrivaled guest experience

Editorial by Citysearch

Of The Liberty Hotel's 300 guestrooms, 20 are located within the old Charles Street Jail, with the remaining housed in a new 16-story tower. The modern rooms -- each of which has a flat-screen TV -- are tastefully appointed, with many enjoying river views. Located near the Esplanade, and next to the Charles Street T stop, the hotel provides an ideal home base for tourists. On-site drinking and dining options are set to include Clink (small plates), Scampo (upscale modern fare by Lydia Shire) and Alibi (a nightlife destination, courtesy of Patrick Lyons).

Key Points

  • Over 300 guestrooms
  • In the Heart of Beacon Hill
  • Quintessentially Boston

Coolest use of a Jail

by J. H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,623

So, I have not stayed overnight here, I have just gone for functions but I love it. The building was a jail in it's former life and the hotel has kept some of that history alive. They've also done some cute stuff like naming the bars inside "The Clink" and "Alibi" It's a neat place, you should check it out!

Absolutely beautiful!

by amolson04

The new Liberty Hotel is absolutely beautiful. The lobby is simply stunning, and our room was also lovely - not to mention very comfortable! The bathroom was especially magnificent. I was very impressed and highly satisfied.

Pros: Location, ambience, service

Cons: Not all the rooms have nice views

Unbelieveable new hotel

by jillmast

This place is amazing. I havent stayed yet because they havent opened yet but I plan on staying soon just because I've lived in Boston for years and I cant wait to see what they have done with the old jail. From the outside it looks incredible so Im assuming thi inside will be also. This is going to be a top hotel in this city for a while. See you soon Liberty.
