Redbones, a popular destination in Davis Square, Somerville, since 1987, serves authentic real pit Southern BBQ. All items from the tasty menu are available in the restaurant, for take out and delivery. Catering for all sized groups is a specialty. Redbones serves 28 standard-setting and fan favorite brews on tap and a wide selection of bottled beers. The full bar also offers specialty drinks including Margaritas and Mexican Martinis and an array of spirits. Redbones is open seven days for lunch, dinner, late night dining and brunch on Sundays. Free bicycle valet parking is available evenings to cyclists coming to Davis Square. Special events are scheduled throughout the year. Customers and staffers alike share the spirit of Redbones, where community rather than commercialism has been the order of the day since 1987. For information visit redbones.com and Facebook.
The food quality is not consistent the pricing works and the quantity of food but some days you wish you had more and other days it is not even good enough to finish
Pros: pricing
Cons: crowded

I've been going to this place for years, and I never get tired of it. Located in Davis Square, Redbones offers a southern-country style decor, bike valet, downstairs bar, and of course, out-of-this-world ribs. If you're going on a weekend night, be prepared for a wait, though: this place is typically packed.
I've even heard people from the south/midwest say that these are the best ribs they've found in New England....It's a must-try!
Pros: Inexpensive, GREAT ribs, Bike valet!
Cons: usually crowded

The service isn't the best, they rush you right through the meal. But the food is excellent!!!

Whether in Somerville or at their Bolton Fair booth, a visit to Redbones is a treat. From the time you enter the neighborhood and smell the kitchen, you know you've entered the "'bones zone" and are in for great barbecue. I've also visited with vegans and vegetarians who have always found side dishes to enjoy.

Their food is so good-the wait for a table doesn't matter! If you're starving, just head downstairs to the bar and have some drinks and order your food there!

Beverages are served in mason jars lending a Southern feel to dinner. Crawfish apps. are amazing! For someone who can be a picky eater, I was impressed!

Great food, good service and right in Davis Square, can't beat it!!!

This is without a doubt the most overated restarraunt around. The ribs are ususally fatty with not much taste. The beans and cole slaw are always watery and just slopped around. The place is a dump also. Not even in the same league as Uncle Petes. I always give Redbones another try because I keep hearing how good it is, but I always leave disappointed.

just talking about the food, not the ambiance, bar etc. The ribs were just not very tasty; pretty tender, but I've made better myself.

Sorry, hate to be a spoiler, but every time I see Redbones listed as one of the best of Boston, I get real scared for the state of Boston BBQ. My #1 criteria is tenderness and tastiness of the meat, as it falls off the bone and turns into a mouth-watering smile. I live closeby and have gone quite a few times. They are not bad, like the BBQ from your typical steakhouse. Their meat is big 'n meaty, but a bit on the dry side. Certainly, it's not really tender by BBQ standards. The sauce needs to be applied afterwards, or you have to settle for the stuff that was cooked into it...not that great, and doesn't work well with the meat. This goes for beef and pork. The chicken was dry as well.
Pros: Large place for BBQ, Big 'n Meaty Ribs, Convenient location
Cons: Meat is not tender, Sauce is so-so, Not Cheap

being a regular, i guess i'm biased but this place is *the* place for bbq...and fried okra and potato salad. the service is friendly, with a family-like somerville attitude. great value...especially if you are curious about something, they will let you try a serving for free. drinks are good too! anything goes as far as creating a meal and best of all, restaurant is not the place where you would be embarassed to be seen with bbq sauce all over your face...

If you don't mind the wait belly up to the bones...Redbones that is. The best BBQ food in the north suburbs. The Brisket and ribs are excellent, the pulled pork is top notch and the sides can be great. Skip the fried sides the hushpuppies are terrible and the catfish fingers were soggy-greezy. The bar side is always packed any can be exciting on the weekends. You will have a nice take home bag for left overs even with a good size stomach. I have never had room for desert. The table service can be scetchy at best; if you have no patience for parking I recommend the take out service.
Pros: take out, yum, BBQ greatness
Cons: parking, long wait, hushpuppies are BAD
