In Short
Established in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.

Key Points

  • Fresh, delicious Italian food
  • Variety of wine and beverages
  • To Go ordering available

The Inside Scoop

  1. What to Drink - What's spaghetti and meatballs without a glass of wine? You'll find vintages here from Italy, Australia, California and Washington.

Ratings_icons WOW

I love Italian food. What I dont love is having to drive to the North End to pay such high prices for it!

I come here instead (or Vinny T's), close to my house and both very good. Olive Garden stands out because of their free salads! THEY ARE DELICIOUS! The food is always great and service is always friendly and efficient!

Ratings_icons Very long wait for a table

RA01701

It seems that everyone wants to eat there.
I have always had to wait 45 minutes minimum/.
Once even 2 hrs. ( I went somewhere else)

Pros: Good food

Cons: Very long wait for a table

How Olive Garden could make the top 10 Italian in a city with so many great Italian restaurants, is beyond me! Even at a low price point I can think of many that are better..... Massimino's, L'Osteria, Pomodoro... for starters...

This OG tends to be a little better than the OG in hyannis. They really out to close the two of them. Cheap food does not automatically mean bargain. as low as the prices are the quality of the food is lower.

Cons: loud, bland, POOR QUALITY

Ratings_icons Where's the Good Food?

das_liebchen

This restaurant does not deserve to be mentioned under Italian restaurants. It's a chain and you can taste it in the food. As well as see/feel it in the environment.

Cons: bland menu, just a chain, unpalatable food

Ratings_icons Italian Food?? I think NOT

daizygirl

This italian food chain does not belong, never mind deserve, to be in the same classification as the other italian restaurants. For authentic italian cusine, you need to go to the North End (although, there are places outside of the NE that are comparable). Otherwise, if you're looking for cheap, disgusting italian food, OG is the place to go.

Ratings_icons Seriously?

bigtime

The Olive Garden?
Obviously rated highly by those who have never actually had italian food!
Did you just move here? Go to the Fleet Center and take a right, you'll find somehting called the North End.
I'll give it all 5's because its extremely average in every respect.
Try Joe Tecce's!!!!

Pros: Inexpensive, Quick

Cons: Not really authentic, fast food ital. style

Great Italian food for people who think that McDonald's is a great place to take the family for a special night out.

Ratings_icons Love it!

zoetic618

Love the sauce, love the breadsticks, love the house salad, love the cappucino, etc. It does get crowded and noisy (like any restaurant on the weekends) and the service isn't always top-notch, but we look forward to our meals at Olive Garden, nonetheless.

Pros: great food, good piped-in music

Cons: crowded, ok service

Read my rating (leelee) about Vinny's except this isn't even good attempt at italian. How many time have you had chicken parm in Italy?
