In a word....Horrible. possibly the worst Chinese place I have ever been to. Dirty smelly old and the food was so bad it's hard to say it was even Chinese food. Just awful. Do not eat here.

The best menu items to order at Breakers? A Mai Tai and an egg roll. I think the have the best of both compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Other than that, I prefer some other places, especially Plum Garden in McHenry.

First, the food is very good, and the wait staff is very attentive. The menu has a good variety of food, and they give you plenty of what you order.\r\n\r\nWe sat at the bar, and had a drink. One of the bar staff needed some bar stuff, and opened up a trap door in the floor ??? We were sitting just above this hole in the floor, and can only say it was scary!!! \r\n\r\nWe were seated, and ordered our food. I needed to wash my hands, so on my way to the wash room, I walked by the kitchen. I looked in, and what a MESS. It looked dirty, and sloppy. I got to the wash room, and it looked like it had not been cleaned in a week.\r\n\r\nThey say you can tell alot about a restaurant by looking at their kitchen, and bathroom.

Pros: Food & Service

Cons: Dirty kitchen, bath & more

breakers is a little bit poorly located but if you can get past that I would recommend it for some more authentic cuisine. They are a little over priced but the difference between them and Chinese food chains is unmistakable.

I love the Breakers, I've been going to it ever since I was 7 years old, and actually this is my first choice to go to for my birthday every year. Their food is always consistent and great, plus the Chinese food is some of the best I've had. The portions are really big, they're enough to fill my appetite at least. The building is very old, the whole place is more than 50 years old and they open 4 pm and on. I'd suggest getting reservations for the weekend, since they are normally pretty busy. What I love to get every time is the Beef with Peapods and the Chicken Almondding.

Pros: Good chinese food and service,.

Cons: It can be a little dark inside with the lighting

We have eaten at Breakers several times over the years. The food has always been good (though not great). The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly. They have both American and Chinese cuisine. There are other Chinese restaurants in our area that I prefer over Breakers, but you will get a good meal.
