I had the pleasure of visiting Spain in 1998, I loved the tapas in Spain and when I visited Emilios, their tapas were a inexpensive trip back to Spain. The atomoshere is pleasant and the service is friendly. I also enjoyed a virgin sangria.

Great food and an awesome atmosphere... I loved the service and their sangria. One of those places that hours pass by and you don't realize it... I'll be back on my next trip to Chicago.

I visited on a Monday night. Trying to decide between two different red wines, my waiter brought tasting glasses to allow me to taste before choosing. Very nice! But the service after that was inconsistent, with my waiter not showing up to check on my needs to order the next plate - luckily other staff pitched in. The plates are wonderful, very well presented. The artichoke, serrano ham and cabrales cheese with mixed greens (Tarta de Alcachofas) was fabuous, drizzled with balsamic vinegar. However my grilled beef tenderloin was a bit charred on the outside, somewhat overwhelming the cracked peppers and sherry sauce. The Delicia de Tres Gustos terrine of white, bitter sweet and caramel mousse was not as flavorful as I would have expected.
Overall, I would go back to explore the menu more.

This place is SO good! I visit Chicago every year for a week in November, and my friends and I eat there at least twice! The red sangria is delicious and a must-have dish is the baked goat cheese with garlic toast - absolutely to die for!! Do yourself a big favor and get over to Emilio's!

Lots of interesting dishes to sample. Excellent wine list. I recommend the Veleta Trepenillo wine. Service was okay but the food was excellent. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

Emilio's tapas and wine bar is the best place to people watch and to get a great small meal. The white sangria is very good with a kick and the small appetizers are just enough to share with two or four. Everything was great, make sure (if you don't know spanish) you ask if the tapas is hot or cold; expecting a hot dish and receiving it cold can "sour" the appetite.
Dessert was just enough and not over-bearing. Well worth the wait and money.

My friend and I shared five of what we thought were the most interesting and inventive-sounding tapas on the menu, and all of them were bland and uninspired. The "gracious, unhurried" service made us impatient, especially considering that we were two of four people in the whole place and still had to wait 20 minutes for the bill.

First time experienced Spanish food. Paella A La Valenciana was good, needed a little more spice. Tapa Piquillos Rellenos De Pato was excellent. Baked dried fruit tart desert was good. Red sangria was watered down.

outstanding! one of a very few 5 stars I've ever given. Excellent CAZUELA DE PULPO, GAMBAS FRIAS TRES SALSAS, AN CON TOMATE, JAMON Y QUESO, TAPA A LA NAVARRA, CARACOLES EMILIO, duck in sherry sauce, calamri bread. We had over 30 plates. Our waitress served 8 loons without a flinch. Excellent Margaritas and desserts too. As good as tapas in Spain. But if you'd prefer the long wait at Iberico....

Pros: food, service

Cons: I ate too much

If you love garlic, you've got to try the seasoned olive/garlic appetizer. I munched on it from the bar and the garlic was amazing. The pork tenderloins were on the dry side but the croquettas, stuffed mushrooms, bell pepper stuffed with crab, and the duck with couscous were excellent.

Cons: Hard to find parking

While the downtown location draws plenty of tourists, the atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is friendly. The scene is much more sedate than the scene at Cafe Iberico, but that can be a good thing. The noise level is conversation-friendly making it a great date destination. Food is excellent--nicely seasoned and attractively presented.

The tapas served here comes from Emilio Gervilla, who owns several likeminded places in the city and suburbs. Generally speaking, the dishes fare well, and this location is no exception. There's a comfortable dining room and nice bar worth…
