Do NOT use TipsyCake for copying another cake. I asked for a cake to be copied from pictures. The cake included silk and frosting butterflies all over it. The entire cake was supposed to have fondant icing. They charged me $460 plus tax

WORST. EVER. O STARS
So, I had ordered a cake for my wife's birthday. It was supposed to be a life scale designer shoe, large enough to feed 20+ people. The shoe was supposed to be complete with detailing, down to the red sole. When the cake was delivered the morning of my wife's birthday, I was livid. This was not a lifescale shoe, no, instead TipsyCake had ripped me off of over $600 for a mini, tiny, 3 inch sloppy shoe that didn't look ANYTHING like the designer shoe I had sent a picture in. This little 3 inch shoe was atop a giant white square cake, that had sloppy writing on top "Happy Birthday". It was literally the saddest thing I had ever seen come from a cake shop. No detailing on the shoe, no pristine hand work. You could see lines where they had applied color to the little Barbie shoe. They put 0 effort and 0 work into my cake, completely ripped me off, and DID NOT EVEN DELIVER WHAT I HAD ORDERED. The owner NAOMI (THE WORST) was a complete unprofessional and did nothing to rectify the situation. In the end, I had to find a replacement cake before my wife saw this devastation.

I'll first say the cake was ok ,the decor fine. I expected more for the price, but I think many trendy bakeries are the same in Chicago in that way.

We bought one cake from Tipsy Cake for a baby shower, and a second for a big birthday bash. Both were perfect; well beyond my expectations.

The baby shower cake was lady baltimore white cake, with strawberries. Best tasting cake I've ever indulged in. Everyone, including the mom-to-be, loved it. The shower was at a restaurant; the pastry chef there complimented the cake on its structuring. Nice feeling, to have your cake complimented by a pro:)

The birthday cake was custom, shaped like a champagne bottle in an ice bucket. It was so beautifully crafted that many guests thought it was real until pointed out otherwise. Nearly a year later, people still talk about the cake - gorgeous and delicious!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, READ! I never feel compelled to write reviews, but I had such a horrible experience with this business that I had to warn people. I spent over $200 on cupcakes for a fabulous anniversary party. Although I probably should have been scared off by the cluttered and disorganized appearance of the shop, the tasting was pleasant. Naomi, the owner, was cooperative and friendly (at least before she had my money) and although the cakes were not exactly delectable, the designs from the album was impressive. That was the last thing that went well! My father-in-law left our celebration early to go pick up the cupcakes to find out they had accidentally delivered them. When we saw the cakes, our order was wrong. The fondant and design were not what we had discussed on the phone and my name was spelled incorrectly, even after I called the day before to double-check the spelling. It was incredibly embarrassing to host a part y with your name spelled wrong on the cake. My guests even complained about an unpleasant odor from the cupcakes and said they tasted sour. When I informed Naomi of the mistakes that were made, I could not believe her response. SHE WAS DISGUSTINGLY RUDE! She said my guests didn't enjoy the cupcakes because they weren't used to eating high-end ingredients. I can only assume this comment was directed at me because I am a person of color, but of course I hope I am wrong. Moreover, she told me that if she gave me money back I would be personally taking wages out of the pockets of her workers. Her "you need to get over it attitude" continued when I told her that we didn't eat our cake and she responded by saying that I was shameful because there are starving kids in the world. She was insulting, derogatory, and just plain unprofessional. What ever happened to customer service? I refuse to believe that people like this can stay in business for very long and I can at least say that I walked out of that shop with my integrity, which I don't think she can do. Please don't be a victim. Take your money elsewhere.

We ordered an Elmo cake for my son's 2nd birthday from Tipsy Cake and we could not have been more impressed with the end result. The cake was beautiful, it was huge, it was perfectly Elmo in shape and color, and our son loved it! On top of the high quality product, the cake was delivered promptly at 9am on a Sunday morning. Thank you Tipsy Cake, we can't wait for our next event so that you can bake us something else extraordinary.

I bought a voucher from "you swoop" and called right away. They told me that I was ordering too far in advance. What??? That's what I thought. So when I called back a week later (still 8 days in advance of when I need the cake) they told me they could not do it because now they were booked. AND the person on the phone was really rude as if only the chosen few would be granted a cake. What a bunch of jerks.

I heard of this place from a friend, so I decided to check it out. I went in to buy my sister a cake for her birthday, and was so excited to see how it was going to turn out. When I went to pick it up, I was not satisfied at all at how it turned out!!! My little 13 year old brother could have made a better cake. Not only did it look bad for the money I paid, but the cake was burnt, they did not put the filling I asked for, and it was not tasty at all. I basically should have saved my money and made a cake myself that would have turned out 1000 times better....

This shop is full of passion and creativity. We ordered stylish purses for our clients. 4 large purses and a shopping bag, the price was very reasonable.

There are a multitude of flavors to pick from and all are fresh and decadent- my thighs know that!

The cost of a custom cake is quite different to a grocery store cake, it appears that some of the bitter reviews here are reacting to the investment they made in art and are showing typical buyer's regret by lashing out on the internet.

TipsyCake has the heart and soul of Humboldt Park and the artistic genius of the world. Try them out!

Ordered cake for babyshower and it was nothing was right except the small 1 person cake. Instead of correctin or acknowledging her failure or even mistake possible Namoi just rehearsed "I'm sorry, you feel that way, we stand by our work. If you like I can give you $10 gift certificate" Horrible, I wasn't even requesting all my monies back. Never do business with them. Definitely should had looked at their reviews they are horrible and well deserved.

This is my first time doing this.... I am going to try to be objective in this case. I order a cake from tipsy cake (paid almost $200 for a cake for 20 people) for my baby's baptism. The day I went to pay the cake (she actually requires all the money before hand) I told her employee I need it the cake around 10:30 am. On the day of the event I went to pick up my expensive cake. One of her employees invited me to the table (inside the area were they make the cakes... actually very dirty) to see my cake. To my surprise the cake had some spots that were not supposed to be there, however I was willing to take the cake with me (It was kind of late for the event). In that moment, the owner of the store came inside yelling at me that I couldn't be there (maybe she did not want me to see how DIRTY the place was) She told me I couldn't take the cake because the store was supposed to be closed. Almost in tears, I told her I need it my cake and that her employee told me a week ago It was going to be ready at 10:30 am. I also told her, that the cake had some spots that I didn't like. OMG! She got sooooo upset, she started screaming at me that her cake was gorgeous and that she worked on the cake for many hours.
I sat in a chair in the front desk waiting to see if she calms down, my sister went inside and tried to deal with the situation.

So, she gave the cake to my sister and we drove to the event very upset. She totally ruined our beautiful day. The cake was good but not as we expected. Next time, I am not ordering from Tipsy Cakes..... and I have a lot of friends! Horrible customer service.

I hired TipsyCake for my wedding after receiving recommendations from my planner, florist and especially after meeting with Naomi, seeing her portfolio of creatively decorated cakes, and tasting a variety of flavors. BOTTOM LINE ON TOP: Of the bakeries we looked at, TipsyCake was not only the most innovative and delicious, they were also affordable. We tasted cakes from some of Chicago?s most well-known bakeries (for weddings) at our own tastings and at events, and were not impressed?especially how the cakes turned out for actual events (after how much guests had paid). Oftentimes, tastings (whether at a caterer or bakery) can be misleading since they?re smaller portions and created without the challenges of the actual logistics of the event. I can assure you that TipsyCake executed as well as they presented early on.

Naomi, the owner, worked with us to fully customize the cake. We ordered a three-tiered buttercream-frosted cake with the bottom layer being yellow cake with fresh strawberries, the middle layer being chocolate with fresh raspberries, and the top layer (and an extra sheet cake) being a white cake with passion fruit creme and fresh mango (my favorite?it was so light and flavorful). All I need to say really is that the cake was DEVOURED entirely, with many of our guests?mostly young professionals who fancy themselves as foodies with an eye for design and finicky palettes?going back for seconds or thirds, wanting to try every flavor. At the end of the night, we split some of our top layer with lingering guests because we couldn?t stop eating the cake. Each layer was dense in flavor and moist. The buttercream frosting and added fruit were a bonus.

Of all of the wedding vendors we worked with, we were extremely pleased with how TipsyCake respected our business, our direction, and most of all, our investment in this special occasion. We knew our cake was a success when so many of our guests pointed out that it was the best wedding cake they?ve had.

Of all of the wedding vendors we worked with, we were extremely pleased with how TipsyCake respected our business, our direction, and most of all, our investment in this special occasion. We knew our cake was a success when so many of our guests pointed out that it was the best wedding cake they?ve had.

Pros: Professional, creative, consultative and delicious!

Cons: Not enough people know about this little gem!

We heard great things about this bakery so decided to drive out from Oak Park to check it out. The selection was meager at best. However, what we did order turned out to be quite delicious (brownie and Australian sponge cake). So why on earth would we rate this establishment as a 2?

There is a lot to be said for atmosphere. A very vocal woman, whom we assumed was the owner berated an employee for everyone to hear. There is a time and place to reprimand an employee. Doing it in front of customers shows a lack of professionalism and makes everyone uncomfortable. Needless to say, this incident created a very bad vibe that took the sweetness right out of tipsycake.

Yuk! I took one of 'everyting' they had which was 4 items. A cupcake, a scone, a cookie and a Rugelach. Too sweet! I felt like I was gringing my teeth there was so much and such big chuncks of sugar on everything! And the prices were outragous as well. In this case unfortunately I could say Starbucks is better in this crazy price range for variety and quality.

I heard about this bakery from a friend who had her wedding cake done by them (which looked spectacular and tasted delicious). I ordered some of the rugelach and flourless chocolate cake which Tipsycake can deilver. The rugelach was so moist and tasty and I really loved the apricot flavor one. The flourless chocolate cake was also divine, I served it at work for a colleague's birthday with vanilla ice-cream and raspberries and now everyone from the office wants to have their cake from Tipsycake. The owner is Australian and so is one of the other people at the bakery. Really friendly and fun crew. Would definitely recommend them for special occasions or just a treat for no reason at all!

I went to tipsycake to get a cake. When I picked it up, it looked like a child had done the decortions. Once we served the cake it was the worst tasting cake I have had in a while. It was dry and tasteless. After calling to complain to the owner / chef . was one of the most unhelpfull and rude person I have talked to in a while. I would never go there again
Don't waste your money here. go to a real bakery if you need a cake or sweet

If you want something different, definitely try this place. The owner is australian from what I understand, and is passionate about her work. I ordered the arugulach, great stuff, let me tell you. I was a total-star at the office with this choice of dessert for our brunch meeting and love being one. This may just be my new bakery of choice. She just opened this location so they're still working on the interior of the bakery, but I highly recommed stopping by and visiting their newly opened storefront. I wish I knew about this place when I was getting married! I had a horror story with my sweet table, I feel that it may have been different if I went through this cute bakery.
