I come here before going to some Blackhawk games. The pizza is delicious and well worth a visit. The pizza is cooked at high temps and get the dough nice and crunchy. The flavor is fantastic and smokey! They have a unique presentation of their pizzas, they place the trays on top of tomato cans.

Coalfire makes an excellent pizza. It tastes fresh and the ingredients are top notch. It's a great place to stop before a Bulls/Hawks game...just get there a little early because it can get crowded!

This is some of the best pizza in Chicago (where thin crust pizza is for some reason always cut in squares). This pizza is thankfully cut in triangles, but, more importantly, is incredibly tasty. Coalfire does not take reservations and is very relaxed (they serve PBR in cans), but it's an inexpensive night out and great for a big group so you can sample all of their delicious pizzas. The one annoying thing is the location - it's near impossible to get a cab in River West after dinner.

This place has undoubtedly the best thin curst pizza in Chicago. The calzones are so-so, but the pizza's the best!

Pros: Pizza

Cons: can't eat enough

Editorial from

Based on the classic Neapolitan thin-style pizza (with an East Coast spin), the 14-inch pies at Coalfire can almost be called "light." In other words, you won't need a napkin to soak up any excess grease, and you won't walk away feeling…
