If you decide to do the Niblock experience, be sure to check each and every aspect of your home as it is being built. Their customer service or Warranty Department as they want to call it, leaves little to be desired.

Some of the things a new homeowner expects in a home are lacking in a Niblock home. Flat (uncupped) wood flooring, coils were switched in the HVAC units voiding the warranties, foundation problems in several homes - cracks in foundations as well as homes sinking, bottoms of closet doors falling out, dings left in the trim work that was just painted over instead of a nice smooth finished piece of trim.

Since they do not heat their homes when they are working on them in cold weather, this causes problems. We had to have two floors of carpeting restretched after two years because the house was cold when the carpet was installed.

The changing of vendors during the building process and you won't get what you actually signed up for originally - no notification of these changes. One really needs to go over the specification sheet with a fine tooth comb before signing on the dotted line and handing over the check to make sure you got everything you signed up to get. After a couple of years, we are still finding we got a lesser item than what was supposed to be in the home we built OR the item was left out completely. The list goes on.....

I would suggest you visit the home every single day to make sure you are getting what you pay for. If you do not have this kind of time, hire someone to oversee the process or choose another builder. This one needs to be micro-managed.

Pros: Nice looking homes

Cons: Quality does not equal the price of these homes
