finally some deep tissue

by workoutbug

I've been looking for a deep tissue massage and every place that I tried did the soft gentle slather on oil thing. I hate that. I wanted very deep bodywork so I feel like its doing something. I found Jeff in the yellow pages. He does very deep work like I like but with a twist. He's very into the proper mechanics of the body and working to increase full range of movement. We talked about yoga stretches that I could do to help with my movement issues. Hes great and I'll be back.

Pros: listens, close to work, open weekends

tennis anyone

by veganbytheway

I stopped playing tennis for about 4months because of a nagging elbow pain. I went to Jeff to see if he could help. I had seen Jeff several years ago for a knee issue. He was very helpful then and now. He worked on my forearm muscles and showed me some stretches. The pain was gone and a week later I started back playing the sport I love.

Pros: knows his stuff, works late, easy to get to location

myofascial release

by heyyou2010

I was searching for some relief with my fibromyalgia and sought the services of Jeff Widmann. A friend of mine with MS had seen him and he was very helpful.
Jeff suggested myofascial release and worked on me for about an hour. The pain had diminished significantly. I know that there is no cure for my issue but Jeff is able to make my life alot better by decreasing any flare ups when they arise.

Pros: available late hours and weekends

I really enjoyed learning about some techniques that I could use to help my self. He's very helpful and a great listener.
Thanks

chiropractic free

by hughu

I've been seeing a chiropractor 3x per week for a few months for my neck pain with no results just more discomfort. A friend suggested Jeff Widmann as someone that could help. I saw Jeff and we talked awhile about the limited range of movement and neck pain that i was experiencing. He worked on me for about an hour using triggerpoint Therapy and myofascial release techniques. After the session I had full range of movement in my neck with no pain. I see Jeff once a week for preventative maintenance. He's better than a chiropractor and addresses the muscles that cause the pain.

Pros: safe and secure area

was tired of the pain killers

by whatthe48

I've felt pain in the upper part of my back for several months . I work out frequently and was hopeful that the pain would just go away and guess what, it didn't. I decided to try an alternative approach with neuromuscular massage. Chiropractic just freaks me out and I hate the comatose feeling from meds.
Jeff was able to see me within a few days. He was able to get rid of most of the pain with the 1st session. He showed me some stretches that would assist me with the healing. I went in to see Jeff once per week for one month. The pain had totally gone away and it hasn't been back, thank God. Jeff suggested that if the pain even slightly comes back to come in as soon as possible but its been two months ,without pain. He did suggest a monthly maintenance plan but I havent had a chance to go back in.

Pros: knows alot of different techniques for pain relief

sciatica

by dutcher2000

I had met Jeff in my fitness equiptment store and we started talking about fitness and what he did for a living.
I mentioned that I had been in pain for about 3months with sciatica. He suggested and actually showed me how to do a couple stretches that might help. We set up an appointment for the following day. Upon my arrival I let him know the stretches made a dramic improvement. He said great because then he knew exactly which muscle was the problem. The muscle on the side of my hip was the issue and he treated it with triggerpoint Therapy. He was able to get rid of the pain within our 1st session. He wanted me to come in a few days later to make sure the triggerpoint was gone. Within 1 week of first seeing Jeff I was pain free. I wish I had known about neuromuscular massage and triggerpoint therapy sooner.

Pros: close to my home

neck pain

by charger45

I woke up one morning with extreme pain in my neck and could barely move it. I called Jeff and he was able to see me within a couple hours. He did some deep tissue massage and neuromuscular massage throughout my neck even in the front part. After the hour session I could fully move my neck and most of the pain was gone. He suggested a couple stretches and for me to drink lots of water. He also wanted me to come in in a couple days to release the rest of the muscle discomfort. When i came back the pain was minimal and jeff was able to make me pain free.

Pros: knows what he's doing

Why did I wait so long

by westonjam

I was dealing with a frontal headache for about two weeks. I couldnt stand it anymore it was so depressing.
I asked a few of my friends for any ideas on who I should see and one of them mentioned Jeff. They said he helped out their wife who had some pain issues. I went to see Jeff and he thought that he could help and actually spent more time with me than the alotted time. He found multiple triggerpoints in my neck that referred pain to my headache. After the session 95% of the pain was gone and by ten o clock that nite it was totally gone. I did schedule another session per his suggestion to get rid of any lingering triggerpoints.
Jeff's skills in neuromuscular massage and triggerpoint therapy are fantastic. Why did I wait so long?

Pros: very flexible

fibromyalgia pain

by steelbluegray

I've suffered with fibromyalgia pain for years and have tried several styles of massage therapy with no relief. While browsing the internet I found Jeff widmann's site . It was very informative and is medically /clinically oriented so I decided to give him a try.
The session lasted about 1 1/2 hrs and I felt so much relief that I started to cry. I couldnt believe that the pain decreased that much it was overwhelming. I see Jeff atleast once per week and my pain is down about 80%. I hope that we will be able to get rid of the other 20% but only time will tell.
I applaud Jeff's Skills in Neuromuscular Massage, Triggerpoint Therapy and Deep tissue Bodywork. He has also instucted me on stretches and some strenghteners. He is also a personal fitness instructor so we will be starting training next month.

Thanks for listening

nagging pain

I work long hours and only have off on Sundays. I called Jeff widmann and he was able to see me on Sunday. I thought that was just awesome that someone actually works on Sunday for people like me.
I told him that I have a nagging shoulder problem and driving just kills it. He was able to find the problem , it was a rotator cuff muscle. He was able to get rid of most of the pain in one session and gave me some stretches to do until our next session. We also discussed alternatives in my driving that will help.
He was great.

I have a history of headaches and migrains for a few years. I hate taking medication and how they make me feel. I sought out Jeff after a friend of mine had seen him for a knee problem. I was delighted that Jeff was able to see me while I was experiencing a major headache. He was able to find the problem in just a few minutes and within 30 mins was able to make the pain disappear. We went over some stretches and I will be doing them daily to keep the headaches from comming back. I've seen Jeff maybe 10 times and havent had a headache since.

Results driven therapeutic massage

by PaBla

I had an eversion ankle sprain several years back that never healed correctly limiting my flexibility and causing chronic pain. I went through the usual route of seeing an orthopedist who recommended a physical therapist but was not getting the results I needed. I found Jeff's website from an internet search and decided to give it a try. I was a bit shocked how quickly I got results from his bodywork. In only a few visits, Jeff was able to increase the flexibility and relieve most of the pain. But more importantly, Jeff provided me the yoga stretches to maintain this improvement and reduce the number of treatments I would have needed. He was completely focused on immediate and thorough results to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Jeff and his services.

Pros: Easy to work with, focused on results, ultimate professional

Amazing Results

by SizzleLene

I have suffered from neck and back pain for so many years I can't even remember when it all started - pain meds, chiropractors - finally had neck surgery back in Jan which relieved the issues I was having with my neck but, unfortunately (or fortunately!) back surgery isn't a necessity at this point. My surgeon offered a treatment of shots but I'd heard they were extremely painful and didn't help for long. A co-worker recommended Jeffrey to me and I am so glad he did! I have had only four treatments from Jeffrey and already the pain in my back is practically non-existent. The yoga stretches he has been teaching me is helping me to stretch and strengthen my muscles as well - wish I had been doing yoga for years instead of just starting late in life.

If you are looking for relief from pain, I highly recommend Jeffrey - he will definitely help you!

Pros: Flexible w/his scheduling

Best Massage Therapy in Charlotte

by wfalls

I recently sought Jeffrey Widdman's help after being rear-ended in a car accident for a second time and suffering with constant neck and back pain. I was hoping for some sort of temporary pain relief, and much to my surprise, I have received permanent gains in pain relief and range of motion through Jeff's massage therapy and stretching techniques. Through the years, I have seen a number of physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and neurologists for chronic neck and back pain due to car accidents and a sports injury. Jeff Widdman is the best!!! I only wish I had discovered him sooner. His knowledge, skill, and individual care is by far the best I have received from any health care professional. I highly recommend him and his practice if you suffer from chronic pain of any kind.

Pros: Knowledgeable, friendly, willing to work you in at the last minute

Significant relief from pain and stiffness in my hand after surgery

by nancybjones

After a fall last April, I underwent tendon repair surgery on my right middle finger. I was the fortunate patient of Dr. Baker at Orthocarolina. Hand therapists at Orthocarolina Hand Clinic helped me regain function and significant mobility. However, once released from therapy at 4 1/2 months post-op, I felt I needed additional help in working out the stiffness and flexibility in my preferred hand. My primary therapist encouraged me to find a hand massage therapist. In the past, I have found neuro-muscular massage helped with frozen shoulders as well as bursitis in my hip. So I began to look for someone who could help me with my hand. When I told the doctor and therapists about Jeff's work, they were supportive and glad to get his card for future reference.

Jeff's encouragement and expertise have reinspired me to continue my therapy exercises. He has added new stretches that have very helpful. During visits, Jeff has stretched the hand tendons and worked the muscles to help me make outstanding continued progress. I am able to bend my fingers at the joints with much greater ease and have much less muscle tension in my right forearm. Also, I have measurable improvement in my hand function in my daily life. Getting back the use of my hand has been a long and discouraging process at times, but I now have hope for the best possible outcome. I highly recommend Jeff and his practice...especially in working through recovery from surgery!

Pros: Convenient location, easy parking, prompt appointments, positive/pleasant setting

Cons: None

Therapeutic Massage Therapist (and Miracle Worker)

by kcamburn

In a lot of pain caused by what doctors said was a pinched nerve, I sought out the help of a chiropractor, physician and a neurologist. When these doctors did not resolve the problem, I decided to call Jeffrey Widmann at Advanced Therapeutics, whose card I was given by a co-worker. That was one of the best decisions I've made. The other doctors did absolutely nothing to address the problem except give me medication and set up more appts., but Jeffrey was able to relieve my pain.

Once I called and explained to Jeff the level of pain I was in, he worked me in within 24 hours and I could tell a difference the first day. By the second visit, the pain was drastically reduced and is now gone. Not only did he take the time to talk through what was going on, he continued to ask me how I felt and explained what was happening throughout the process. And he taught me stretching exercises to help avoid having more problems in the future.

To me, Jeff is a miracle worker. In actuality, I realize he is a true professional who is highly trained and very knowledgeable regarding his work. I highly recommend him and will continue to use his services in the future.

Massage Therapists

by lindaarnold

I can't say enough the deep tissue massage and professional service I received from Jeffrey Widmann!

I called with an emergency, and he worked me in within several hours. I was having muscle spasms in my back that were so debilitating I could hardly stand up straight. Mr. Widmann gave me some tips over the phone to help ease the pain until my appointment time -- and even offered to make an onsite visit if I couldn't make it to his office.

It turns out I was able to make it there, and I experienced almost immediate relief when he went to work on the trigger points that were causing the problem. I've had therapeutic massages all over the country, and this is definitely among the BEST I've ever received. He even gave me some take-home exercises to keep the condition from recurring in the future.

I would strongly recommend Jeffrey Widmann. He's the real deal -- not just a "fluff-and-puff" practitioner!

Pros: Easy access/parking; professional and knowledgeable service

Great Therapeutic Massage

by pinksgreat

Mr Widmann worked me into his schedule recently during the evening after a long week of neck pain. It was very short notice for him, and I was so happy that he was willing to wait on me to get there. My pain level upon arriving was through the roof. After having an intense massage focused on my upper back and and neck area, I could actually turn my head again. It was like magic. I was in much better shape when I left than I was when I arrived. I look forward to being able to go back for some more work. He was very also very good about asking me questions about the pain and trying to relieve it.

Pros: Relaxing Environment

After suffering from chronic pain most of my adult life, I found Jeff. He was recommended to me from an employee of the "Y". Sceptical to say the least, I had tried physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, other massage therapy, botox injections, pain meds, surgery, cotisone injections, nerve blocks, prayer, accupuncture, etc.,nothing worked for very long.Jeff's knowledge, concern and excellent technique have given me more relief than all the other "stuff". My problems are varied, Jeff ask questions, talks to me ( if I want to talk) and looks for response from me, then addresses my problem"du jour".I now see Jeff on a regular basis, and expect to continue. He also believes in himself and practice what he preaches daily.

I am a fellow massage therapist who has trouble with TMJ syndrome. I have also received numerous massages to manage my problem. Needless to say, I have become very picky about the bodywork I receive. Jeff is very knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and result-focused. When I have a flare-up, he is the person I turn to. He is amazing.

THE ONLY PLACE TO GO

by 4christssake

I'VE BEEN RECEIVING MASSAGES FOR OVER 20 YEARS. WHEN I DEVELOPED UPPER BACK PAIN 6 YEARS AGO I CALLED AROUND AND FOUND JEFF WIDMAN. AT LAST A THERAPIST YOU CAN TALK TO AND HE LISTENS! DON'T EXPECT TO GET A TOE MASSAGE IF YOUR SHOULDER HURTS. JEFF ZEROES IN ON THE MUSCLES THAT HURT AND ELIMINATES THE CAUSE OF THE PAIN. I HAVE CONTINUED TO USE JEFF ON AN ONGOING BASIS AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A PAIN FREE LIFESTYLE. HE IS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND SINCERELY CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR HEALTH, OFFERING ALTERNATIVES TO RELIEVING THE PAIN THROUGH STRETCHING, YOGA AND NUTRITION. JEFF IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST THERAPIST IN TOWN.

Real men get massages

by caminante

I had tried everything that I knew about to treat elbow tendonitis, but nothing seemed to work long-term, including Cortisone shots and physical therapy. So I had to limit my activities, mainly rock-climbing. After several years, a swimmer friend told me about Jeff. He explained to me that if a joint injury fails to heal, it may be that the muscles on either side of the joint are too tight. That was the case with me. After working on the muscles of my upper and lower arms, I was able to resume climbing. This is not your usual massage. It is deep and focused on specific problem areas. It wasn't a quick fix for me, but it did work. Jeff has also recommended several different stretches and/or yoga postures.

Pros: Very professional, relaxing atmosphere

Serious pain relief

by debral

Jeff was recommended to me by my physcian for help in managing chronic pain issues. His work has made a huge difference towards reducing specific pain problems, in addition to managing my stress levels. Don't expect a "spa" massage, as he targets areas with deep tissue work, even spending an entire session on one or two muscles if need be. He has recommended a variety of exercises and stretches that have improved my flexibility, assisted in reducing pain and kept chronic pain from returning as quickly. He is knowledgeable in many areas, including yoga and reiki and combines these techniques with neuromuscular massage. Without question, working with Jeff on a regular, long term basis has improved my quality of life. I find him to be highly professional and understanding in helping me with back, neck and headache pain.

Pros: Easy parking, convenient location, private office space
