BEWARE: I purchased a boat from 70 West Marines manager Brian Kelly sight unseen. I live in FL and wanted the exact boat that they had. The photos Brian sent were of all the good things, not the problems!! The service manager J.T. Bried JR assured me the boat was in perfect running condition, well it is now over $2000 later!!! Now neither of them will answer my emails when I asked for some help with the repairs. Turns out the boat was owned by J.T. Bried SR.!!!! They say I bought the boat as is. Both are big scammers. So much for trusting someone.

I'm compelled to warn others of the subpar service I've received on my 27 Albemarle this summer in hopes you won't spend two holiday weekends with your boat held captive at 70 West. I don't write reviews, ever, who has time? Yet, this warrants such.
I've been around sport fishing boats in NC all my life, since 1964 at Wrightsville Beach. Enjoying the laid back atmosphere and superior fishing in Morehead, we purchased a home in AB 16 years ago and have kept our boat there, too. We've searched all over Carteret for reliable, capable boat service and thought we had found it with recommendations to this 38 year landmark for which we are familiar. Knowing they pride themselves in being Moreheads only Volvo Penta(my engines) rapid response dealer, I thought I would give their service another look.
Took my boat in to marina in April 2012 to be sure it was running well for our family Memorial Day weekend in May. With wife, two kids, mother and father-in-law in tow, we head to 70 west on May 26. I write the large check for service and board my boat. We had just left the marina when one engine started to overheat. Turn around, head back to marina. Time lost with family on boat.
Fast forward to June. I contact 70 West to check that my boat will be ready when my family comes back down for the July 4th week. I even go down two weeks before (3hour trip each way)to check on boat. It was ready. They didn't offer to bring my boat to my dock for me since I was alone with no one to drive my truck back to the house. Really?! So, the boat stays at 70West, again.
Friday, June 29th, head to 70West with my son to get our boat for some fishing and July 4th fun. Put the keys in ignition, dead. JT, service manager who I've been working with for two months is on vacation for a couple of days. Manager in charge doesn't even get off the fork lift when I inquire as to who was working on my boat, who left on switches that must have drained battery, or worse. Young kids jockeying boats in and out of water were more attentive. Next day, Saturday July 1st, get there early to meet JT opening up the shop. He assures he will get to the bottom of this....
Today is Tuesday, July 3rd at noon, not a word! This from a marina whose first sentence on their website boasts they have a reputation for 38 years of impeccable service. Times are tough, you can't rest on your laurels, you have to work to stay ahead. Nothing wilts faster than laurels that have been rested upon.

A++ I??ve stored my boat with 70 West for 10 years and absolutely love it. The staff is courteous and the service is top notch. It??s so nice to just pick up the phone and have the boat in the water... if there is a problem with my boat I can just pick up the phone or email the service department and it??s handled!

We kept a 28' SeaRay at 70 West for several years. The staff is very friendly. The prices are competitive for the area, and the water is very calm, which is nice when docking, washing the boat, etc. One complaint I have is they claimed they could keep my boat in dry storage with a cover over the top. The problem was, this cover was rusty and dropped nasty black fragments constantly, so the boat was always a mess when I went to use it.
