Wish I could find something positive to say about this salon/spa, but I can't. Visited this salon this month for facial, massage and pedicure and it was the worst service I have ever received. Massage was pretty much someone lightly stroking my skin, facial consisted of two types of masque applications, steam for about 3 minutes, and off I went; pedicure was horrible -- I left with crooked nails and polish on my skin. Never received the foot and calf massage they describe. To make matters worse, the nail person shoved her business card in my face when she finished. No smile, no conversation -- just a business card. Why would I ever go back? What a waste. A lot of money for terrible services. Do yourself a favor and go to another Spa.

I had highlights and a haircut done at Generations. The cut was okay, but the highlights were not near my scalp- there is already a 1/4 of an inch regrowth because they did not put the foils right up to my scalp. They also did not explain how much more a partial foil would be and I ended up paying way too much on a service that I could have done better myself.

Generations Salon is great - I am always pleased with a cut or a color and they are in a great location. Always easy to get an appointment and everyone is very friendly.

I have been a client of this establishment for several years. The customer service is excellent; I am seen within 10 minutes of my appointment times; the owner and staff are professional and experienced. I recommend them to my family and friends.

This is an Aveda spa, so the products are great! I have had many services here. Massages, facials and have had my hair cut/styled twice here. I am always totally relaxed when going here.
I have had one bad service here: the sunless tanning treatment. I really believe this was due to the technician not being familiar with the treatment and rushed it. Needless to say, I came out streaked! The manager was very nice and scheduled for me to come in for a "fix." Other than this bad experience, I love this place!

The stylists don't pay attention to you, but are busy with each other.

Both "Your wallet and Your Hair" will Pay for this less than stellar 'Spa Experience".

?Day Spa?, ?Spa Experience? ?
Women hear these terms and our excitement builds as we peruse the list of services.
?Salon?, ?Clips??
As women, we understand these are terms that are not catering to the full spa experience. You want to arrive, get a trim, perhaps highlights and leave.
Here is the big difference I would like to share with all of the hair stylists in North Carolina (We love you all).
When you call yourself a Day Spa, and a client books a hair appointment, even if it?s for something simple, like a wash and dry (which I love), for me, this is a vacation from the normal world and into the ?spa world.? Why?
A)You do not have to stand in the shower, wash your hair and condition your hair. If you have longer hair, this can take about 10-12 minutes.
B)You do not have to take the 45 minutes to dry your hair. For medium length to longer hair, it takes about 45 minutes (and I am not very good at this) to dry my hair. It is a pain. To treat my self for a low cost, I will head to a ?Day Spa? who will do this at a low cost, especially when you have no time and want your hair to look FANTASTIC.
You have the title ?Day Spa?, for that reason, I expect a limited amount of discussion. I am not trying to be rude. But, this is ?me? time. I want to review all of the latest gossip in the ?OK? and ?People? magazines. I don?t have these at home. I want to see what Tom Cruise is up to, because as home, I don?t have that opportunity.
When you (talented hair stylist) speak incessantly about your dog, your husband, boyfriend, and ask me questions, that makes me determine ?you are NOT the person I want to see again for my Spa experience?. I want silence, sweet silence, to enjoy the fragrant aromas of the creams and potions you place in my hair and your fingers on my scalp, the warmth of the dryer.?
Just give me some silent, quiet, me time. If I ask you a question and I want to talk. Fine. Otherwise, please let me enjoy the ?Spa Experience?.

I have been going to Generations for about 1 year. Patrick takes his time, focuses on detail, and is friendly to boot! The atmosphere is very relaxed and the focus is perfection without stress. I am happy to finally find someone who will listen, give constructive feedback, and will take their time.

I have been going to Brooke for over two years now for cut and color. She does a wonderful job every time I go. She took a fairly hideous creation that was the result of another local salon (which shall remain nameless to protect the not so innocent!) and turned it into something amazing. I constantly get compliments on my hair on both the style and color.

I even recommended her to a co-worker and she loves her just as much as I do. Brooke did my wedding makeup and DeNae (might have spelled that wrong) did my wedding hair and I got complimented on it the entire day. They also did my sister's wedding hair and makeup for my big day and she looked like a movie star!

Shaheen also does wonders with her threading. It's a must for those who have sensitive skin who can't wax but want to take off the facial hair.

They have a great location and a wonderful atmosphere. They are always very pleseant and accomodating. I highly recommend the salon and definately would (and have!) recommend Brooke, DeNae and Shaheen.

I just had the best cut and color and loved my stylist. Elizabeth McHenry rocks! I look like a totally different person and felt like a princess while I was there. Even better was that while the stylist was applying my color, I sat at a round table with a huge selection of magazines to select from. Someone even came by and offered me something to drink and snacks! If you want to feel and look special, this is the place to be! Thanks to Everyone at Generations!!!

I just left the slaon for the first time and it was a wonderful experience, Patrick Pridgen does a wonderful job, listens to what you want and makes your time there a treat. I have followed him there from Wakeforest,, I have very thick hair and it takes a certain talent to make it look good and he has it. I always receive compiaments on the cut and color. I highly recomend him to anyone.

I don't understand the recent bad reviews. I went there for the first time and loved the experience. I was greated pleasantly, and offered hot tea or water. The atmosphere was clean and nice. I had my hair cut and colored and it turned out perfectly. I enjoyed my experience so much that I am booking myself and my bridesmaids to have our hair and makeup done for my wedding @ Generations.

I decided to go to this place because it's near my house but now I wish I'd driven further. This was the first time in my life that I've ever received a haircut that was physically painful. The man who cut my hair was so rough I had tears in my eyes--I guess he couldn't hear my screams over the sounds of the hair dryer. He butchered my layers and then had the nerve to tell me after he'd finished my cut that I need to grow them out. Hello, you're the one who just cut them so short, weirdo! I will never set foot in that place again. Oh, and it's an Aveda salon, which usually means you get some sort of spa treatment with your 'do--in this case it consisted of him silently handing me a warm washcloth for my hands. I'm irritated that I wasted my money at this place and now have a crappy haircut that will take months to grow out. Avoid this place if you value your head!

I received the worst cut and color ever. The man who I went to was incredibly rough with my hair throughout the whole process and I walked out with mauve hair when I wanted a light brown! I asked him just to trim the ends and he ended up cutting 2 inches off. I also got a pedicure and she massaged my toes for about 1 minute. I've had better pedis at the place next door for almost half the price. Worst experience I've had in a salon in years!

I had one of the lamest pedicures of my life---thank goodness it was a gift because I would have been more upset if I'd had to pay for it myself. The young lady was very nice, but the glycolic pedicure seemed like a half hearted attempt on her part. She didn't even know that they had one on their service menu. I have had better pedicures at strip mall chop shops. For $55, I expect a little more than I got. Don't waste your money on pedicures there. If you want to get your money's worth, get a glycolic shower. That is worth it!

I was a regular at the Creedmoor Road salon for years, and always happy with the cut/service and value. When they opened in Briercreek, I went once. They charged me $70 for a cut, which was nearly double what I'd been charged prior. They lost me due to price, I'm just not into overpaying for a haircut. Nothing wrong with the cut, nothing wrong with the service, I just refuse to pay that much for a cut.

I have never dealt with such unprofessional, chaotic and unorganized people in my life! I had the worse experience and would not recommend this place to anybody! I came here to feel relaxed and be pampered and it?s not what I got. In addition, their employees keep changing all the time. They can't seem to keep good help for long! Stay away!

I called stating "I'm with the Disabled American Veterans" and the man that answered said "No thanks" and hung up on me. I called back and got a lady that I explained what happened that said they were having problems with phones. They don't do appointments outside of the office which is what I was looking for, but would not have went with them. They're seemingly too busy to "deal" with customers, so doubt anyone would get the special attention they deserve.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I wasted my time here. I am very picky with my salons and the only reason I went here was because they had availability and it looked nice. I was very dissatisfied with my entire experience. When I called to speak with someone about this after being put on hold twice for almost ten minutes. I was told to bad. That's it , they don't care about making sure that the customer is satisfied all they care about is taking advantage about people. I will never go back here and I do not recommended this salon along with all the other reviews. If the salon put a little more effort in customer satisfaction it would make all the difference, unfortunately it is not the case here.

i was offered a pass from a girlfriend to use their services that she already paid for but couldnt use since she was going out of town - i just had a baby and i was very gracious to get a massage but wanted to let my mom get the complimentary haircut in place of watching my baby while i got the massage - i made the appt the day before with the receptionist and my mom drove me there the day of the appt and waited with the baby til her appt - when it came time for her appt i was told that they could not transfer the service - the terms of service blah blah blah - i said to the current receptionist that i made the appt with the understanding that it was fine - she asked "did i speak with the manager about it?" which i had not - the receptionist who made the appointment told me it would be fine - why would i then ask to speak to a manger?

i was very disappointed that the girl at the desk could not see what an inconvenience the miscommunication among the staff had now caused me and my mother - she waited in the car for an hour and a half !

the massage itself was great - but what happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE?~ WOULD IT REALLY HAVE BEEN THAT DIFFICULT TO JUST CUT MY MOTHERS HAIR INSTEAD OF MINE ?

I WILL NOT GO BACK~

I have just moved to the Raleigh/Durham area from NJ. I have been doing my research on different salon/spas in area and this salon/spa caught my eye by all the great reviews. So I made an apptointment for my hair and a pedicure, well I was on hold for like 5 minutes. I go to my appt. and the front desk does not even look at me, they just ask if I had an appt. I told her yes and she told me to just sit down and wait. Well I waited forever...... I finally got my hair done and I felt like she was trying to rush through my haircut. The girls working are standing around gossiping. I get my pedicure and that was pleasant but by that time I was not pleased with the service I had received. I was very unhappy when I left and I will NOT be going back. Please DO NOT listen to these reviews!!!!!!!!!!

I rely on Citysearch for advice on local businesses I plan to visit, as I'm sure you are doing now. However, I was shocked at how completely wrong all the reviews were. I recently moved down the street from the Earthfare shopping plaza and Generations was one of the first Salon & Day Spa's I visited. I'm not sure what the deal is with all the gripe and rude reviews but they're obviously left by snooty, pompous, know-it-all's who just like to complain.

NOTHING about the salon is unwelcoming. The first time I entered the salon the front desk greeted me with a smile, handed me a list of services, and even offered to give me a tour. I didn't expect many people to be there since it was mid-morning on a Thursday but sure enough ladies were getting services done. I enjoy retreating there on my lunch break and have never had a bad experience. The place is clean, well managed, and certainly inviting. I highly recommend you at least visit Generations. They're one of the best salon and spas i've visited yet!

Cons: Figuring out which service I want

Generations was recommended to me by a friend and I thank her for it all the time. I am so impressed with this place because it is convenient and has flexible appointment times. I have been to many spas and the cannot accomodate me within a reasonable time frame because they are booked, so it willb e like 3-4 weeks out. At Generations, they are able to work around my schedule, which I prefer nights and weekends. I get my hair cut and colored here by Brooke and I love it. I received one of the best pedicures and massages as well. I enjoyed the facial too because the woman educated me on how to take care of my face. I highly recommend this salon to all my friends. Customer service is friendly and they will remember you. Plus, they are always going out of their way to make you comfortable.

Of all the Day Spa's I have visited in the Raleigh, Durham area this Spa is top rated as a 10. I am very impressed with the service and willingness of the staff to make sure my expeience was top rated. My stylist name was Brooke and she gave me a new look that lifted years off my former cut. She listened to me and analyzed my hair type to give me a new updated style that fits with my lifestyle. It was evident that the stylist was well trained and loved her job. I also had a relaxing pedicure, where I was impressed with the cleanliness of the foot baths. I must say that I truley enjoyed my experience at Generations.
Do take the time and papmer yourself you will not regrete it!

Generations is an Aveda salon and usually that sets the bar for expectations. If you want to go to a sad place and have a miserable experience, this Salon is it. The atmosphere is depressing, clearly their staff is not happy and I was almost the only customer in there when I went to get highlights and a cut which took almost 4 hours with very unsatisfactory results. Everyone kept asking me if I needed a drink or anything, basically because everyone was walking around doing nothing. Then I finally got a glass of water and had to hold my cup through my shampoo etc., because no one was really paying attention. It was like a bunch of zombies that only knew how to ask one thing, "do you need something to drink", and then never really paid attention. After my highlights, the stylist had to keep doing rinses on my hair, she said they didn't have the color I wanted (I guess the management doesn't keep the color stocked as they should... I'm sure the management wouldn't want the staff sharing this, but clearly my stylist didn't want to be personally responsible when they had a lack of "tools" to do their job) so she used a darker one and then had to try and tone it down several times. I think the staff at this salon are all new and are not provided the color and products they need to do their jobs. I don't really understand this as I paid almost $150.00 for a terrible experience. Needless to say I won't be rebooking! I get the sense that this salon is not doing well (perhaps they are in financial trouble) and by reading all the other user reviews I can see others have had an equally disappointing experience.

There are lot's of salons in Raleigh, I wouldn't waste your time on this one!

Pros: You can get an appointment because no one goes here

Cons: Negative atmosphere, terrible highlights and color, training school for new stylists at your expense

I went to Generations to have a hair cut and color. Upon arriving there, I was never greeted.
The stylist was running 30 minutes late and rushed me to the chair. I had a one minute consultation and color slapped fon my hair. I will never go back to generations and will deff. be spreading the word about this awful service. Take my word, don't waste your time or money.

I had a massage & facial. I have never had a massage where you have to purchase the essential oil bottle if they open it for you to use for your massage or they just use jojoba oil which in great for your skin but, you don't get the benefits from the essential oils. Usually all places use the products they have in the salon they tell you what the benefits of the essential oils are & if you are interested you will purchase it. Also, location you can hear all the noise from the outside car alarms, people you can't relax.

My facial experience was the same usually when you have a facial they tell you what they are using what it's for and of course that was not mentioned & the steam was on for a few seconds, and no extractions were performed this was a 1st. The facial was short she was also doing some kind I guess a massage on the side of my face down towards the ears that was not relaxing it was more bothersome. Well, good luck to the next customer bring your own essential oil for your massage or you'll just get jojoba. Generations Salon you need to bring in some professionals.

I went to Generations to get my haircut and check out the salon/spa. I wil not mention who cut my hair but I told her what I wanted and she told me she could do that. Well afterward my haircut was my far NOT what I wanted. But there was no way she could fix it. The salon was nice and the service was ok. But I was not happy with my cut. I have not yet decided if I am going to try any other services from them or not!!!

I have read all the reviews and only the ones that are positive are true. Not only were they smiling at the front desk but they offered me water or a wonderful cup of Aveda hot tea. I have experienced most of the services there and all have been exceptional. The massage from Dan was the best.I relaxed in the sauna, then had a wonderful pedicure and manicure from one of the nail people. On another appt. I had the best facial EVER from Lindasue. I will now go back for my hair. PLEASE go to this Spa you will not be dissapointed.

Generations was by far the worst experience of my life. I have been to many different salon/spas in different states and this was a horrible experience. First off my apptointment was messed up. Second, the front desk had no idea what they were doing and they were rude (didn't even say hello-just handed me paperwork and told me to fill it out) , I sat up front for about 20 minutes before somebody took me to the back to change. The music was way to loud. Nobody seemed happy. Nobody really asked how I was doing or if I needed anything. I then check out and the front desk person never even ask me how my service was, never smiled or nothing. I have never been treated so bad in a salon/spa before. This place needs to hire better staff that likes to attend to customers when they walk through the door.

Pros: The salon (lookswise) was nice

Cons: customer service

Looking for quiet spa treatments? Look for another location other than Generations. The noise is terrible! You can hear things from people in the spa hallway to the noise coming from the hair salon on the other side of the building. I agree with these past reviews. They should "smile" more. Front enterance is their 1st impression. Not too mention, they seem to be unorganized with little communication between staff & management. Trust me folks, look for another spa.

I recently visited the new Generations Salon & Day Spa in Brierdale. I must say, it is one of the most impressive places I've been. The customer service is complete!! The beautiful spa has a relaxed atmosphere which allowed me to experience total relaxation during my facial. After my facial, I had my hair cut and wanted to try something new and different. So I asked the stylist what she would think would look best and she went to work. She turned me into a new me, I love my new haircut now and she also geared me up with new style tips and great Aveda makeup . Generations Salon is very clean, fashionable, equipped with a very talented staff who will pamper you during your stay. I loved the new place and you can bet I will be going there again.

The atmosphere in this place is unpleasant. The people are rude. The reviews for thi place are such a lie. The people are pushy with the products!!!! The only reason I did not buy something is because they were trying so hard. I actually went somewhere else to buy the products!!! It would be nice if people who worked actually SMILED!!!

I think Andrea is the BEST!! I started going there last year and love it, I was pregnant and she help me with a hair cut design and colored to suit my needs. She always makes sure I am happy with the results, she listens to the customer. The ambience is not the best, and prices are high. I like the products she uses too.

In my opinion, this place is over-rated. I can't believe that I listened to these reviews.
I've read most of them, and actually read them over again and I think
they are all bogus. I left this salon feeling as though i'd just received
one of the worst haircuts of my life. I've been wearing hats ever since my cut last week.

When I went to Generations I saw Danielle for a facial. I had such a great experience with her that I went back the next week to get my eyebrows waxed. She was a really nice person and very outgoing. I really liked Generations and will be returning there in the future.

I thought going to this Aveda affiliated spa would be enjoyable. But they pushed the products A LOT! There really isn't any ambience that you might expect, it is a noisy space, not well divided, and too small. The one room for other services, wasn't quiet. An eyebrow tint I had there did not last a week. That was very disappointing.

I spent many months trying to find the right stylist for my hair. I was most troubled by being unable to find a good colorist. I found what I wanted in Brooke. She was wonderful and I enjoyed the experience. HOWEVER, I feel they are overpriced compared to some other high end salons. Its hard to justify over $200 per visit every 6 weeks so I tend to wait to have my hair done. I've been to top salons in NYC and the metro area where I would pay closer to $135 without tip.

Not sure I will stay at this salon and will probably start looking for a more reasonably priced salon who can deliver.

I'd been having my hair done(so I thought) for many years by someone other than Jay. But not anymore, after Jay revived my hair back to healthy, and gave me a great hair color, I will NEVER consider going anywhere else! Everyone should have their hair done by Jay.

Everything was perfect! And it was a great idea for us to book my father-in-law's pedicure and manicure back to back. We were actually done in much less time than expected. Thank you so much!
