I just discovered the Flat Iron recently. If you're looking for a flashy, trendy meat market, this place is not for you. If you're looking for some interesting conversation, some genuine diversity, some surprisingly good live blues and jazz, and reasonably priced drinks. I'd say it's the real-est bar in downtown G'boro. Yeah, it's smokey, but that just adds to the atmosphere (literally, I guess).

The Flat Iron is a local "establishment" or "anti-establishment" really. This is the place to see really great indie acts in Greensboro, though it's a smoking bar and you'll often come out smelling like an ash-tray, for an ex-smoker, sometimes that's a good thing. Decent beer, better mixed drinks.
