This place only sells you a pipe dream.. and takes your money! they are in the buisness to take peoples money and give you false hope. You always have to pay something. The owner is not very friendly, and some memebrs of the staff are rude. Also it is not very organized. It is a shame that so many people have fallen prey to these peoples lies, and the people have been paying their paychecks. And you would think they would have better customer service skills! I mean Really!

I accompanied my twenty year old friend on what she was told would be a private audition/interview to join the agency as a model. We walked in to a room packed full of young girls and boys and their parents. For an hour and a half we were lectured on "what it takes to make it in this industry" by the agency director, Brigitte. She basically spent half the time talking sternly to the fresh young faces on how they need to mold themselves to fit in, and half the time selling the agency to the parents. For about thirty minutes, she went through head shot after head shot of successful actors and models who she claimed had "made it" because of the Cary franchise of Casablancas. Towards the end of the meeting I raised my hand to ask a question about up-front costs which may be incurred to new talent (costs for new headshots, model training classes, etc.) Brigitte looked at me and said "Sorry but I don't have time to answer questions." The woman had just spent an hour and a half lecturing us. I go to a major research University, and in every single class I've ever taken I have been given the opportunity to raise my hand and ask a question. In talking to a personal friend who is a major talent agent in the Southeast, I have learned that Casablancas is a running joke in the modelling world. No legitimate photographers cast from Casablancas because they see it for what it is: a scheme to sell parents "talent training" that is "necessary" for their children's success. Again, I went to this audition as a friend and observer. I am also a working actor with a regional agent, and student at UNC Chapel Hill studying Dramatic Arts and Film Production, so I have a working understanding of the business. What I witnessed tonight was nothing more than bold faced exploitation. If they sign any kids from tonight's audtion, it will be nothing more than an induction into a very malicious scheme. In a year and a half, and over $5000 out of the pockets of the poor kids' parents, most of the talent will probably have not signed any kind of major job. I took a break from Brigitte's soap box to go and chat with some of the ladies in the office. After digging around for the facts about the agency and how they represent their talent, I was completely disgusted. It is a total rip off. At one point, a larger woman named Charity (or was it Jerri?) walked into the room and interrupted my conversation. I proceeded to talk with her for ten minutes but got nothing but cold, bad vibes from her. Trust me, there are better talent agencies that will shoot straight with you in North Carolina. If you ever have to sit for more than 30 minutes in a modelling audition, something is wrong. The real people don't have more than 30 minutes to give to anyone other than paying clients. But then again, that's what prospective talent is to Casablancas. Also, if you are ever asked to pay any kind of up-front costs before signing with an agency, it is a scheme and you are being ripped off.

John Casablanca's Modeling in Cary is a bit expensive at first glance (but, if you look at the cost of several drama camps, it is not). After you graduate, you get text messages to find work as an actor or model. \r

Oh my! I can not believe some of the things people have said about the JC center in Cary. I use to feel the same way that if they want money then they are not legitimate. Well that is wrong thinking. They are a school! You do not go to school free unless it is public! I can tell you right now that every penny we have spent at John Casablancas has been worth it. My daughter has learned how to be more confident in front of people and to present herself better professionally. If that is all she did with her training that would be enough. During her training time she was able to model for Dillards and went on a few auditions. We have not pushed to get her into alot of auditions because we wanted her to finish her training but the opportunities are there and if you don't try then you won't get them. They have never promised us that they would get her jobs. They promised to give her the tools and opportunities to get jobs but that is up to us and what we do with it. All of you that keep saying that you should not have to pay an agency to get you a job, you are correct. They are not an agency!!!! They are a training place. Once you graduate then you sign with MTM. We did not pay the amount of money that some of you are claiming to have had to pay! Most likely you paid them on credit and that made you have to pay interest just like you would a credit card. That's not their fault that is yours! My daughter has a lifetime to be able to take any classes or workshops that she wants and also free photo shoots. Jennifer is the only one who give away free things. I think she is a wonderful person and not a mean person like the one lady said. I sit is the lobby every week and I have never heard her be rude to anyone. SHe is professional and has high expectations out of her students. If and I mean if she has come across mean in anyway, it is probably because of an idiot in her showroom. For all of you who want to complain, just get real and get a life. You need to learn to listen to what people are saying to you and not just assume things. THEY NEVER PROMISE YOU ANYTHING!!! If you choose to go to the school then you will get out of it what you put into it. It is just that simple!!!!!!!

ok listen people,, not everything in life is free. im currently going to jc and theyre great. they give you the things you need to get started and they give you great tips.. to become a model/actress/actor you have to know how.. thats the point of a school. yeah its expensive, but its kinda like tuition. in class my instructor has said,, yes we used to scam but we dont anymore. he siad "i wouldnt work here to steal money from people im here to give you a job and thats not guaranteed but im gonna give you the chance to do it and you have to take it. things in life arent just handed to you you have to work for them." so yeah 2,500 dollars is quite a bit to pay but they arent gonna give classes for oh lets say 500$.. because then youd have people that arent serious about this. once youve completed the school you get free photoshoots for 3 years and a crontract with MTM. and after youve completed it you start getting agent interviews.. this is when what youve learned comes in handy. soo to everyone saying they went to the interview and the ppl there asked for money dont start screaming scam unless youve completed the school and they havent given you ANY oppertunities. give it a chance. you ppl are such pessiments. and no i dont work for john casablancas im just a student ho knows what goes on in that buildning. so dont say its a scam if you dont truly know.... kk buh byee.

A person from John Casablanca came to my school and gave out information to everyone. My friend and I signed up because we were interested in acting and modeling. My friend had her "try-out" before me, so she went and got a free photoshoot, then they told her to come back tomorrow because she made "first-cut". The next day, she went there again, and the people there said "You made it! Your in!" So she got in, but the people there were like, "Okay, for the makeup and joining fee, you must pay $2295 and $10 for the photos for a 6 month class of John Casablanca's Modeling and Acting!" I was shocked when I heard she paid that much. Now, that was completely optional, if you wanted your pictures that you took during the photoshoot, you can pay $10 for it. The joining cost was $2295 and they gave you an option if you want to join or not, but my friend was desperate to be a model/actor so she actually paid that amount to get in. To me, that was the worstest choice anyone could ever make. Almost $3000 to learn about modeling/acting? And this company isn't even going to make you appear on the red carpet or those hit tv shows. This is a scam!

I decided not to go to the audtions and that company keeps calling and emailing me almost everyday saying, "Please contact me back! We really look forward to see you!" or "We have a audtion at Tuesday, 6:45 p.m. please come!" or "Please contact us immediately!" It is annoying and obviously, they don't have good business going on, so they are constantly calling me to make me come.

Word of Advice: Don't ever give John Casablanca your info. because they will keep contacting you until you respond. Auditions are suppose to be free! The model company should be paying you, not vice versa!

It all started with a visit from my school. JC in Cary, NC had visit my middle school back in 2008. It was on of the staff from JC in Cary, NC and she was telling us about what JC has to offer and everything. Soo, I wasn't really all the convinced but I signed up on this paper that she had for people whom were intrested in JC. Well then she had a booth were you come and grab some flyers, look at models picture that went through the JC program, etc etc.

Well that was the last I even thought about her or that booth of hers. Few weeks later I get a call saying I was welcome to come in at the JC to have my picture taking and runway walk. The lady on the phone told me the place and time of when to come in. I didn't know who it was until she said she was from the JC Center in Cary. I had totally forgotten about her.

So the next day I go in and finds out that the free photo shoot and runway was an audition. Wow !! I do as im told and Brdiget the lady who was audtitoning us had pick chosen people to join JC. Wow !! again.

I was one of the chosen people. And I had to pay $3,000 to join JC. But let me tell you that $3,000 was worth it. I had classes every Saturday to attend to and the JC staff trained us about Agencys, and Audition. Basicly everything you need to know about TV/Print , Modeling industry. I had 20 Classes and they even take pictures of you for your headshots and teach you how to do your resume. They Have a professinal Photographer to take your photos and he does a really good of a job. !! They give you extra help. They have workshops so you can get a better understanding of the industry.

All in all, my expreince with JC was the greatest. And I am very pleased. It's an investment in your future.

Without JC in Cary, NC I would not be where I am today, which is signed on with a top agency in NC !!!

I would highy reccomendd it to a friend.

Okay so I signed up for this place online like thursday it is now saturday november 15 2009.. anyhow they didn't ask for a picture online or anything but brief information. Weird number 1. next i get a random call (thursday) from a woman named Naomi who sets me up with an appt and tells me that she "looks forward to seeing me"-after i told her that i had no experience she still offers me a " job" interview. weird number 2 ..friday night rolls around which was yesterday, i go get a fresh hair cut and a nice new outfit. late friday night i decide to research this john casablanca to see what its all about i end up finding a lot of reviews about scams. to make a long story shorter haha i finally get to the john casablanca building, the lady at the front desk is not very pleasant nextly when i meat my so called recruiter naomi i could tell that this was no professional meeting by the way she shook my hand, she had no grip whatsoever it was the least firm not even close to business appropriate..next we go in her office after i waited in the beautiful lounge center inside of JCB for nearly 30 min, we finally reach her office and shes speaking like a f*cking sales representative barley taking breaths, i mean this lady could throw a 90 mph sentence at you, she mind as well had spoken to me in spanish cause i could barley understand her so she gives me a tour then tells me all the things i could do, she says i look like a model then she tells me that they have a spot for 12 jobs which 10 have already been filled and that i filed out an application at the perfect time of the year then shes talking about classes and make up and an schedules and its sounding promising, she tells me about the portfolio and making like $200 and hour but they get 20% commission on all your pay and im thinking sure this is an okay job then as shes speaking more fast and rushing through i wait for the catch and surely enough she pitches.. she hands me a paper and asks if i could make like and $80 dollar down payment rite now...? hold on i thought they were offering a job..? i didnt ask for a fu*king class to prepare me? I ended up driving 45 min to there building in CT just for them to offer me some deal that would ultimately cost me or my parents $1300 dollars.. i told her id let her know if they'd go for it on monday.. but i only said that so i didnt have to say "no bitch your physco" rite to her face.:) so to all you people my conclusion is that it is a bit of a scam and a school nothing more really for some people maybe but for most its just something to help build confidence and self-esteem, meet some people or work under some great staff, and thats it, there really arent too many probono agencies out there that will take you and help you without cost or atleast 1300 dollars haha that place is plan unreasonable.

Pros: Teaching, fun staff, something to do with time, build self E

Cons: will get u nothing but O.T at work to make that money back

.

a few years ago i wanted to do modeling/acting so i went to a JC audition. they said to come back on a certain date to get everything set up.
so that's what i did. my mom and the lady talked about payments (and let me just say, it's A LOT of money!) in the end my mom gave her a check or whatver.
i started classes and they were every Saturday 8am - 1pm. in all honesty i dreaded every class i went to, they were SO boring! and maybe it was just me but they were. applying make-up and the cat-walk was ok but...other than that BLAH!
the teachers were nice though and they'd joke around with us. at the end of my classes i was supposed to go to a meeting so they could review me but i never went.
i missed some classes so i needed to make them up but seriously, it was BORING. i couldn't take it.
so i just stopped going. and the lady emailed me about a audition a few months later so i went and checked it out but i was a minute late (no exagerating) and they said i had to come back. so i just didn't.
and two years later here i am typing this review.
the plus side to it is that i learned some runway tips, i got make-up brushes and i did a photoshoot. (:
it's not a scam. they tell you in the begining that they're not promising you a job, they're helping you. and that's what they do. the rest is up to you.
they give a weekly list of casting calls all over that you can apply for.
people say it's a scam because of how much money you have to pay. and truthfully, it's not worth it. not the amount of money they're asking for. if it was less then yeah. i'd refer people. but i don't BECAUSE of the money.
hope i helped. and no, i'm not someone from JC that was asked to come up and review it.

Cons: too much money, no guaranteed job

I am suspicious whenever I see several 5 star ratings that appear on the same day. I doubt very seriously several people got on to sing the praise on the same day and only after a negative comment . I would bet money that the agency posted the 5 star ratings and I would have to go with others which is all 1 stars. Word on the streets is they are a rip off school taking your money and not delivering.

BUYER BE AWARE!!! Any agency that has to stoop to such low tactics as to post their own stars to boost up their rating must be a crock!

Also notice if you go to all the 5 star raters profiles they all only posted one rating which was to these people and notice also how they advertise all the features of the agency in their rating just like an advertising. They are so obvious. I wouldn't trust them.

As a former model from Los Angeles I would just like to make a comment on some of these reviews that I have read on this site. First of all, I have worked with some of the top agencies in the world and have shot with some of the best photographers in the world. The reason why I say this is because I have done this for REAL and know the real thing when I see it. I have a niece that has been working with the Raleigh John Casablancas center now for several years. All I can say is that it is the real thing. They never make any promises to you from the beginning. I have found that people that make negative comments like these people are just miserable people who have a bad attitude in life and please know right up front that with that kind of attitude you will get no where in life especially as a model or actor!!!! I would like to comment on the comment someone made about the owner, she is a very intelligent woman who actually knows this business and if you think she is tuff then good luck! You would never make it in the real world of modeling. To the same woman, why do you try to make it sound like its a bad thing that they moved thier office to Cary Nc (not Morrisvile)? I think that the move they made was a huge benifit to thier students. The previous office was in Raleigh in an area that had become not so safe for the kids and the new office is beautiful with new equipment for the students to use in thier training. Why is that such a bad thing? This is what I mean about your negative attitude. My niece has been booked on several jobs while working with them and we have actually made our investment back! What you put into this business is what you will get back. If all you do is sit back and look for the negative then that is what will come your way. Quit complaining and be willing to work and keep working. Dont quit just because you didnt get booked for every job that you audition for. I have seen my nieces self confidence grow so much in the past year. Thank you JC!

John Casablancas in Raleigh,NC was one of the BEST experiences I could have ever given my two daughters. The staff there and at Avanti remain some of the most wonderful adults I could have ever exposed my two girls to. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, warm and enthusiastic. It is however up to the client to utilize the tools that are given to them in order to meet the goals that as an individual have been set. Irregardless of what one decides to do in or not in the "business" this training leaves you with an abundance of lessons that will carry you through life.

Just trust your gut, if you think that it's a bad idea then don't go for it!!! I have read more than 2,000 reviews on no more than only one website and everything on there was a bad idea!!!! Just realize that a chance comes around ever few days, weeks, months and even years!! But just because you have to wait doesn't mean that's a bad thing!! That might actually be the case where all your dreams will come true!! All you got to have is patience!!

I would just like to comment on the lady speaking in regards to John Robert Powers and John Casablancas. You shouldnt even compare JRP to Casablancas. Not speaking badly to JRP, but for myself and shopping around to see which would be best for my daughter, Casablancas proved to be the place. They have an actual agency, which by the way the biggest agency in the world would never gurantee you work or else they are not ligit. The confidence and life lessons learned at Casablancas have made my daughter such a wonderful person and she has gained so much in High School since. At JRP they wanted so much money for just 5 Weeks! The minimum Casablancas gives you is 3 Years of Training GURANTEED. Notice I said training and not work. My daughter could never book a single job but that would not matter to me knowing she is learning so much and gaining so much out of this Career Center. If anyone is to read these that is fine, but in the end whether it be a negative or positive comment, go to the places yourself, do your shopping like you would a great pair of shoes. You'll see that im right about Casablancas!!!!!!

John Robert Powers and John Casablancas are two of the biggest rip-offs in the industry. I am not trying to be mean but the people giving them feedback don't seem to know what a good agency does for you so they think this is good. This place never gives you jobs regulary. The most you will get is once a month, if even that. I regret any penny I wasted with them. I am now represtented by a great, REAL agency, who sends me on auditions a couple of times a week. I work regulary and the only good thing that came out of this is the one sentece credit I can write on my resume, which I could do just fine without. Please don't fool yourself into thinking this is right for you. Find a agency with a good, honest backgroung that will serve you well.

To the woman who claims John Casablancas is a bad place. All i have to say is wonderful things about this place. My daughter could not have been more confident in life without it. Thank You to thh staff. Esp. Bridget and Jennifer! Also in regards to the comment she made about fishing around for more agencies. Well, i did, and I found 10,000$ dollar courses and 5000$ dollar courses and they didnt even give 1/4 of what JC does. John Casablancas is the best deal out there. So yes, i would recommend someone audition at JC and then audition at other places. You'll find what i write is true.

The John Casablancas Modeling and Acting course is an excellent opportunity for anyone - young or old. My teenage son is currently taking the course and it has been worth every penny! He has learned about grooming, style, resumes, and interviews - as well as how to walk on a runway or pose for a photo. He had the opportunity to participate in 2 productions. The first was totally professional. Our family and guests were very impressed. The second production is today and I can't wait to see it! The owners and staff at the JC Center are wonderful. They always have something nice to say about my son to me. I appreciate that. I had the opportunity to talk at length with the owners during recent rehersals. They have a wonderful family dynamic and are really nice and helpful. The JC staff is also professional, helpful and nice. They never make me feel stupid for asking a question that has already been answered, but which I forgot. With respect to work, my son has worked as an extra on "One Tree Hill" on 3 occasions as a result of his association with John Casablancas. He had more opportunities that we could not take advantage of because of school or other obligations.

You get out what you put into most opportunities, but I feel that we got out much more that we put into John Casablancas.

I would like to address the woman who claims to have been "scammed" by the Raleigh John Casablancas Center. I believe you are a mother because you claimed to be on the internet and If I read it on the internet it must be true, right? What I have a hard time believing is that if you are someones mother why you would teach them that when someone lies to you, exploits your dreams and steals your money, your only recourse is to cowardly go onto the internet and annonymously defame someones character and reputation. You are a poor excuse of a parent and should be ashamed of yourself. Professionally speaking I am insulted. You have the audacity to claim that your daughter is 5'10 and 112 lbs and feel that your biggest problem may be that your daughter didn't get any work? What about examining any possible health issues? at 5'10 112 lbs that child should see a doctor. You are quite obviously wrapped up in hate and insecurity.
Personally speaking, what you said about the "owner" shows that you may possibly be a woman but you are certainly no "Lady". You show you have NO CLASS with every nasty little word you wrote. You have made statements that have no truth behind them at all. The person that you spoke so unkindly about is an example of the type of person that you should aspire to be. This particualr person has a faithful and loyal staff, some of whom have been with her for a decade or more. I challenge any employer to match that record. If she were such an "unpleasant" person as you stated, I would think that would be an impossibilty. You need to get your facts straight. You are twisted in your hate.

My daughter Victoria loves taking her classes at John Casablancas, she has more confidence since going to these classes than she ever had in everything that she is doing. It is well worth the money. And everyone is nice and friendly and really care about their students. All the agents and instructors are great. Victoria is very fond of Chaz , Bridget, and Travis. I am grateful for them because they are giving my child the confidence and passion to do something positive with her life. My daughter has learned alot from John Casablancas Modeling and Talent Agency. Those that are willing to take the time and effort that is needed
for this business you can be successful. If i had know about John Casablancas 21 years ago I would have got into it. Kathleen

As a former student of John Casablancas, i have nothing but positive comments to say about this company. I first auditioned for John Casablancas when i was in the seventh grade and unlike common assumptions, they did not take everyone who auditioned. I was cut my first time and the reason for that was that i had a low interest level. I then re-auditioned for them six months later and then received a callback. In the interview they sat down with my mom and I and told us everything we needed to know about this business and the reality that it is. The total interview lasted for right under an hour and at the end my mom knew this was the right thing to do for me because at the time i did not have any self confidence. Once I started my calsses at JC i could tell a sudden difference. As weird as it sounds i learned such things as not wearing white socks with black dress shoes, or wearing the proper tie with the proper dress shirt. These things later came into play when i interviewed for my first real job which i landed. I learned what a resume and headshot was and my confidence shot through the roof. I had auditioned for the school play 2 years in a row and never made a part. The year i went to John Casablancas was the year i finally landed a role in the school play. I ask that god please bless over someone who cannot see the good in a career center such as John Casablancas. (Its not all about the job you might or might not get, but its about the life lessons that you learn here at this center that could never be bought)

John Casablancas was such an amazing experience for me. I am 14 years old and 5"11. For many years I was not confident about my height. When I first start modeling at John Casablancas they taught me that being tall was a good thing. But John Casablancas isn't just for tall people like me. If your an inspiring actor or actress or just want help with confidence then this is the place to go. So far, I have taken 3 courses at John Casablancas, consisting 20 classes, of acting, runway, photo posing, good hygeine, style, exercise and nutrition, and the business of modeling and acting. I have learned so much. After completing my first course at John Casablancas, they started me in a place called Avanti. Avanti is a management that performs two shows each year, that is held in front of agents from New York, Georgia, California, South Carolina, North Carolina, and etc. After completing this show, I recevied 5 or 6 callbacks. I ended up signing with Elite Atlanta and Carolina Talent. Not only did I get agents out of John Casablancas and Avanti, I got confidence. And the staff at John Casablancas is amazing!! They help you and support you and they are there for you when you need them. John Casablancas was an amazing experience for me as well as many others.

John Casablancas Model and Acting school has been such a pleasant surprise and wonderful experience for our daughter. The classes are so much more than modeling and acting. If my daughter never gets a paying modeling job, the cost was money well spent as her confidence and attitude is so much better. Many things impressed us about JC, but the first presentation struck us in a couple ways. It was stressed that if you think you can go through the classes and then sit back and wait for the jobs to come to you, then don?t sign up and they said you might as well leave now. They stressed it is a job that you have to work at and the work is hard. You will have to deal with rejection many times over. They discussed the hotline and the need to call it every week and to follow the instructions for each job you might be interested in. They never told us they would call us, but that it was up to the talent to pursue any job of interest. Our daughter is now in her third set of classes. She understands that she must work at modeling if she wants to make it and she has taken advantage of being able to take as many classes as you want. Through JC, she had the opportunity to work and participate in the Avanti showcase and was signed by Elite Atlanta and Carolina Talent in Charlotte. But just signing with these agencies again doesn?t mean the work is going to find her and she has continued doing classes, workshops, etc. all provided by JC. I also cannot say enough about Jennifer the manager / owner of JC. She is without a doubt, tough on her talent. But don?t mistake tough with being mean or unpleasant. She wants the best for her talent and she knows what it takes to make it in this business; hard work and the desire to succeed. Go to one Avanti showcase and you will see the professionalism that she demands. I also cannot say enough about Bridget. She has always been honest with us and again stresses the hard work it takes to make it in this business. Ken and Patty

John Casablancas Model and Acting school was such a disappointment. The way it is supposed to work is, you give them $1800 dollars for a 3 month course. After the course is completed, you are eligible for work, according to your age and
JC ( John Casablancas) will call you when work is available. Not so! After you complete the course, you never hear from them again. I have a daughter who is 5"10 , 112lbs and gorgeous. She took the modeling classes. She checks the JC hotline and responds to get an appointment when something promising becomes available. We can't even get
a call back or response! Basically, they take your money and run. And if that wasn't enough, the manager/ owner is one of the
most unpleasant women I've ever met. I've heard her be rude to other parents who have just paid her agency $1800 for
their child's classes! My advice- stay away from John Casablancas. By the way, they have just relocated to Morrisville, NC. Don't be fooled- it's the same agency. If your child wants to take acting or modeling classes, take the time
to look into other agencies . I 'm sure there are others that will give you better instruction, better service and better return on your investment.
