I have lived in Warehouse for the past two years at UNC and I can honestly say that it is hands down the most convenient apartment complex in Chapel Hill. The building is located so close to campus that you can easily walk to class (where else off campus can you walk to class??) and its parallel to Franklin St. This means that I actually have countless choices when it comes to eating, instead of being on campus and stuck at alpine bagel or the terrible lenoir dining hall. Also the bar scene is literally a hop skip and a jump away and all the residents who live here are very fun, friendly, and diverse. The maintenance and office staff are incredibly nice and seems like they are always on top of their stuff. Overall I would say that the social experience and convenience are second to none.

This is the best location in Chapel Hill! I have met some really cool neighbors that live here and love my apartment. We haven't had any major problems with maintenance except for a clogged sink which was taken care of quickly.

Terrible apartments, appliances constantly break and it takes forever to fix them. The internet is painfully slow, constantly say that they're going to fix it. Insects, especially spiders and lady bugs roamed the apartments.

Cons: horrible internet, spiders, dirty, the list goes on

.

Honestly, I loved it at first! I loved my roommates (matched based on compatibility), and I loved how close it was to UNC and to Franklin Street.

However, I was horrified to see the size of the apartment, I knew it was small, but it was smaller than I had anticipated. I was able to fit a full sized bed, bedside table and a desk in my room, and still have a lot of walking space (since I pushed the bed against a corner).

The corner units have nice windows, unlike the middle units, which are a little dark, so I liked that we had a corner unit, but the corner units have one room (Room A) that is a completely useless room... The girl who was assigned our room couldn't fit her furniture, and she was upset enough that she moved out within a week, and could not find someone to sublease to or break her lease. All you can really fit is a bed...and maybe a desk?

My biggest problem with the Warehouse- which overshadowed all the great things that I loved about it- was the fact that everything in our apartment kept breaking...I am not exaggerating!

List of things that we had trouble with:

The freezer leaked, so water froze everything inside together in big chunks of ice...
The washer and dryer did not work....
The dishwasher was replaced...
The AC leaked water...
The apartment above us flooded due to some piping issue and this caused water to leak into our apartment
The smoke detector also leaked, and this can become a serious, and a dangerous problem...
The AC still leaks, and has been leaking for 3 months

Each time I complained, management said they would "have it fixed". It was never fixed. The washer rips clothes and the dryer doesn't actually dry anything. Management barely responded to our problems, and the maintenance people kept claiming that everything would "fix on their own in time" (those are their exact words!!!)

Basically, while the warehouse is cute and a nice place to live, you may be better off living somewhere else, there are other places close to campus, that are priced similarly, or even cheaper.

Pros: proximity to UNC, and Franklin Street, cute/trendy decor

This is my second year living at the warehouse and I absolutely love it! The best part is the location- warehouse is one of the few apartment complexes that are within walking distance to class. It only takes me 15 minutes. The decor is also very trendy and cute- there are exposed brick walls and piping which I love because it looks very modern. I have a corner apartment, which as was mentioned by another person was not shown to me on the tour. However, I was given a floor plan which gave the exact room dimensions of the corner unit, so I knew that the room size was a little smaller than the one I looked at on my tour. That being said, I have plenty of room for my full bed, a desk and dresser (also the closets are hugeee!). As for the parking, I'd agree that a few of the spots are small, but parking in chapel hill is a nightmare so I feel lucky just to have a parking spot so close to campus. My roomates and I all have parking spots that we can easily get into, but I guess there is a possibility of getting really unlucky. The stacked spots are a hassle but as long as you sign up for parking in advance it's not a problem to get your own spot. Other things I love: tanning on the roof or in the free tanning bed and working out in the fitness center. As for the safety issue, I feel very safe at warehouse because there is a security guard on duty every weekend, and also the parking deck is very well lit. "Murder mart" is across the street, but there are always like 3 cop cars over there so I actually feel extremely safe walking around (also why would you even go over there late at night??) Another awesome thing is that warehouse is 5 minutes from franklin street and about 2 minutes away from nearly every bar in chapel hill. sooo convenient!! It gets a little loud in the atrium at night when a lot of people are going out but Caribou is only a block away if I am staying in and studying and the noise doesn't last all night. There is a great group of undergrads who I have gotten to know just by living here.

Overall, the decor is really nice, the maintenance staff is great, the office staff is so friendly and always avaliable if you accidentally get locked out of your apartment (which I do alot!) Great home away from home!

They show you a model that has bigger rooms and kitchen living space and then you can't see it until move in day which is too late to change to something else. All parents and students were surprised that what they .portray is not what is received. My daughter's room was a mousehole. We had to take back the furniture we ordered and find something else before school started. We would have liked to have the truth. It was dirty upon move in, and the washer dryer is broken. Roomates chosen for compatibility are wonderful that is why she stayed in the room. It was unnecessary to be deceitful. It is across from a store referred to as the stabmart. She will not be going there.
Close walk to UNC.
