Yankee Hall was simply amazing in helping me have the wedding of my dreams. I have no complaints! People are still talking about how beautiful the wedding was and how good the food was. Wanda was always available to talk to me when I called and to meet with us a few times. Barbara, the coordinator that you can use optionally, was a godsend and definitely worth the investment. She was great in recommending vendors for things that I decided to add at the very last minute. She ensured the day went smoothly and on schedule. All the servers were polite and worked quickly without being in the way and the bartender stayed on top of things. The house and ballroom were beautiful- so much more character and charm than some hotel or party house ballroom. I have been told by more than one person that it was the nicest wedding they have been to, and I have Yankee Hall to thank for that!

I recently got married at Yankee Hall Plantation and I can honestly say I don't have a single complaint about the venue. The house and grounds are gorgeous and I had to spend very little money on "extra" decorations which was very helpful in keeping with my overall budget. Wanda was always willing to meet with me when I called and was always friendly and professional. The food was delicious and all of my guests seemed pleased with the spread. Wanda helped me find selections of food that fit my budget without making me feel cheap. We used Barbara as our director and I will tell anyone that asks that she is the best money I spent on the wedding-- She was organized and kept everything on schedule. She always asked me first before making any decisions and she was helpful with little tips about etiquette and other wedding related things. Her husband Tony did our ceremony music and he was great as well. My only complaint was that the microphone that our preacher used did not seem to work well throughout the ceremony but I honestly think that was a technical problem that no one could have predicted. The only other complaint that I have is that I feel that I didn't have much time allowed at the house on the day of the ceremony. I felt that the reception was rushed to be over in the allotted 4 hours. Other than that, Yankee Hall was the perfect fit for my wedding and I would definitely chose Yankee Hall again if I had to do it all over again!

We had our parents 50th anniversary party here on April 10th. Wanda was easy to get up with, and if she wasn't available always returned our calls as long as we left a message. I think that telling her exactly what what we expected of her and her staff helped tremendously in the planning of this party. And it worked both ways, communication through the planning process was the key. Wanda worked with us throughout the planning process and made sure that everything we wanted was provided for. This included her setting up the tables the way my dad wanted them and numbering them perfectly. The decorations were gorgeous and the house and grounds were beautiful too. The food was good and there was enough for everyone. We did voice our concerns to her about previous posts on the internet, however she assurred us that she would provide enough food and dessert for all, and she held true to her word. Her staff were friendly although busy so they did their jobs of directing the buffet line and filling glasses with tea during the meal as they should. Our DJ was allowed to set up prior to the event and she didn't mind the family coming and setting up our pictures and items early. The sound system worked but was a little low in volume, but our DJ filled in for us here. Wanda's homemade pound cake with strawberries and cream (strawberry shortcake) was out of this world good! The bar was tended the way we asked for it to be set up and everyone said they had a great time! For the price, it was definately worth it, couldn't have gotten a better deal. I would definately have another party here and definately recommend it to anyone who wants to have a great time at this beautiful venue!

I worked at yankee hall briefly a couple of years ago and I can honestly say that out of the entire staff, there were only 2 women who were friendly. Some of the women went out of their way to make me feel uncomfortable, especially B.W who is in charge of scheduling

When I decided to get married I KNEW I wanted to get married at Yankee Hall. I went one year prior to my wedding date and set the date and put down the deposit. Once we actually started to plan the evening and pay for everything dealing with Wanda and her husband was a total nightmare! Every meeting I set up with her to discuss food options and set up my rehearsal (which we paid for one hour) she was over 45 min late for EACH meeting and said she only had 15 minutes to talk. Once our rehearsal arrived she set up a dinner party the same evening and we had to practice around their decor and set up for there event. The guests for the event the night prior to my wedding night starting showing up during OUR rehearsal. Which to no surprise made things VERY difficult. The day of our wedding day she wouldn't allow my parents and family to set up until 3 (my wedding was at 6) which was a real push for time, when before she said we could come in whenever we wanted to that day. The ceremony went okay with the exception of their speaker system messing up and "frosty the snowman" playing during my vows. The reception went really well after everything that had happened previously. I wouldn't recommend Yankee Hall to anyone, but if you do decide to have your wedding or reception there, take caution.

My daughter had her wedding & reception at Yankee Hall Plantation the end of June 2010. What a fairy tale wedding it was! All of our guests were in awe of the location! It was one photo opportunity after another. The owners, Wanda & Willie were accomodating & very easy to work with. Wanda is a very busy lady & I would recommend using Barbara the wedding director who also works at Yankee Hall. She has an insider path to Wanda. We started planning the event in April of last year & all the planning paid off. We told Wanda we wanted the BEST of all our different vendors & she gave us all of the contact info for them, saving us a lot of time. We used the ball room for the ceremony and the dinner dance. We used Val Conger for our floral needs (she is an artist & fun to work with), we used the Chamber Players for the ceremony (they were awesome & my only regret was not recording them), we used Masterpiece (Bill & Bill) for the DJ's. All of our guests were engaged & were in awe of their talent! Now let's talk about the food! The food was delicious & presentation was phenomenal. Our photos are still incomplete but plan to add some of them when available. In conclusion, we give it a "10" and if you want a story book wedding with out the hassles and be able to enjoy yourself & all of the guests, you must go talk to Wanda at Yankee Hall. As soon as we walked into the house to meet with Wanda last year, we were "hooked" and didn't even consider any other location for Jennifer & Clint's wedding. Like I said, all of our guests were spellbound with Yankee Hall! We did have an inside wedding which was a smart move given the temps in June. Thanks Wanda & staff for making the Hall/Edwards wedding such a fun time for all!

I had my wedding at Yankee Hall. The location was beautiful and the prewedding service was awesome. I stopped in 10-20 times before my wedding just to look at how they had it set-up, and to see what kinds of things I might want to do based on the weddings they were setting up for. Wanda and her husband were very busy, but when I stopped in they always made time to touch base with me and see that things were going ok. It is a good idea to make a few appointments with them over the course of your planning to make sure you are on the right track.

Also, Wanda knows plenty of people in the business and advised me on some inexpensive local options for my contractors. Near the end, when I was freaking over my busted budget, Wanda worked with me to make it still happen. They really are good people-busy, but good people! The ceremony and reception were lovely.

My only complaint is that the day of the wedding, we had quite a disagreement about when I could arrive. I wanted to arrive early and get pictures done so we could spend more time with our guests. Yankee hall did not want that AT ALL. It was really troublesome and stressful and in the end we got less time with our guests. We did have a great high-end photographer who needed a little more time because of her artistic style. Knowing this now, I would have probably negotiated up front more time on location the day of so we could get all the pictures we needed. Yankee Hall offers an on-site engagement shoot and since I didn't use it, I think I should have gotten that time the day of the wedding to do the pictures I needed.

Be sure to LISTEN to your planners and photographers when it comes to timing. If I had knocked most of my pictures out before the wedding, did all the 'event' type stuff at the beginning of the reception, I could have boogied down with my family and friends more than I did. That is my biggest regret when it comes to the wedding.

Also, the reception hall was CAVERNOUS for 150-200 people especially with the patio open to the guests. We had the bar outside on the patio and food in the main house with only the cake, dancefloor, and tables in the ballroom. With the tables spread out like we had, it was just too much space and people were too far apart. I suggest making it a little more cozy by bringing something in the ballroom to take up a little space (i.e. food or bar) and bring people closer together.

Last thing, the prime rib, which is a heavy hors d'?uvre option for the buffet is COLD. I so didn't realize that when ordering my food! Make sure you are aware of the food you are getting! I didn't even ask so that is my fault, but make sure when you sit down with her to make your order that you do.

The best part about my experience was that the whole place was gorgeous. It is well kept and made for lovely pictures. Good luck!

My daughter has booked her wedding to take place at Yankee Hall in Greenville for July 2010, however it is 6 months til her big day and we have not heard anything from the staff. You would think someone would have called us by now to see how planning is going but.........(crickets cherping). ANd to let you know we have CALLED them many times, but they are always to busy to "really" talk to us. So we hired a coordinator to do all of the calling, and she is having trouble too. What should we do???? I can only hope things will work out the way they should!!!! Pray for us.

We booked this venue for our daughters wedding on Feb 14, 2010. It was a Wonderful experience for us, the people there were very friendly and the food was Great.....We hired the DJ from Yankee Hall and he was absolutely awesome! We had a Great time with our friends and family and lots of beautiful memories to share. My husband and I experienced no tragic events in dealing with Wanda, she was very helpful and friendly when we contacted her about anything dealing with the wedding. Maybe the other people in reviews were the ones hard to deal with........this is a Beautiful place, it actually snowed the day before the wedding and that made it even more beautiful. Thanks Yankee Hall and Staff for wonderful memories.

I just got engaged and was thinking about having our wedding at Yankee Hall, but from the reviews I have read and also of what I have heard from past experiences from others (not very good), unless something positive changes, well, I wouldn't chose this place. Thanks guys for the info (mostly negative) Not a place for my fairy tale wedding. Maybe Yankee Hall can make some changes for the better.

Yankee Hall is a gretat experience for a wedding. My son and his bride were married there on Dec 19th. The organization was incredible. The hospitality was even better. It's a beautiful venue for a wedding. The food was fantastic. I may have been the most beaytiful and well organized wedding I've ever attended, and I am a wedding photographer. We hired a DJ, as anyone should for their wedding. Take some responsibility. The hostess was assertive, only beacause she cared about the wedding experience. She could not have been more polite. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were amazed at the fluid orchestration of the event. It'snot cheap, but it's a wonderful experience with very gracious hosts and effifcient organization. Yankee Hall has a reputation for exceptional weddings, parties, and social events. They deserve it. it

The grounds and the home are simply gorgeous. However, dealing with Wanda and her husband was a nightmare. They told us to bring our own liquor, which we did, told us we could bring a company that provides casino games - then when the ALE showed up and busted us, on our wedding night, they pulled us aside and begged us to say the liquor was ours (which it was???!!! Huh???). They failed to inform us that casino games were illegal in North Carolina. Further, they require you to use their HORRID catering. The food was mediocre at best, not what we ordered at worst. Example: chocolate-covered strawberries turned into strawberries with disgusting chocolate dip on the side. We booked for four hours and at the stroke of midnight she was actually overheard saying "We've got to get these people out of here" by more than one of my guests as she and her staff drug trash cans around the place, shooing people out the door. The negotiations were horrid, because if you do manage to get her full attention at your consultation, you can be assured you'll never get it again - or her on the phone for that matter. As for music, we were told we could bring a hard drive or discs of our own and use their system. What a joke. Nobody could tell us (or make time to tell us) where we could hook up the hard drive, and then when we switched to discs, the system played one of the seven we brought in their changer ALL NIGHT LONG; With no one to help us remedy the situation, or go push a button called RANDOM PLAY which, I'm certain, their system had. Worst of all - one of the neighbors called the cops to report a noise complaint. Yankee Hall sold us on the outdoor music feature, which we had to shut down after 20 minutes when the cops came knocking. DISGUSTING, RIGHT? After all of this fiasco - it took three months and over six phone calls for my mother to get her deposit back. All of this fun for $6,000 - what a crock. If there is anyone out there that wants to compete with this business - you can do it without breaking a sweat. We will never use this venue or recommend it to our friends. And unfortunately this is only the nicest story we've heard since then. Apparently, they are universally ghastly. The worst part about it is that the place itself is so darned pretty, I'm sure they'll continue to anger and offend for years to come. That's what a monopoly does.

As I've been researching and planning my wedding I have found it hard to secure a place in Greenville. Yankee Hall is one of the only venues in Greenville to use and with It is unique beautiful grounds, it is also reasonably priced. However the management is not as professional as an establishment who caters to such events should be. They are hard to reach and you have to continuously call them to get an answer. They need to get a full time receptionist and practice returning phone calls in a timely manner. Ive attended a few events there and for such an gorgeous facility, you would think thier staff would dress to the occassions and display better hospitality. This business could REALLY thrive, if management would be more organized, friendly and on top of things.
