1 Stars: This was the worst salon I have ever been to! (by fezirebel)

I decided to try this place out after seeing its reviews on citysearch, and couldn't have been more disappointed after leaving this salon. First of all, the stylist they put me with which was lauren, seemed very inexperienced and when I told her I wanted blonde highlights all over she acted like it was impossible. (Not to mention I have been coloring my hair for 8 years, and my hair takes color very well and I have never had a problem with bad coloring until now). After my head was foiled, she left me sitting there for much longer than normal (in my opinion) for the bleach to set because she was rushing to get ready, and change to go out to a club with her co workers for a fashion show. After rinsing my hair, I sat at the counter and was given a blow dryer to blow dry my hair myself, which was fine, however, upon blow drying my hair I noticed tons of breakage and pieces of blonde hair falling out and breaking as I was carefully drying my hair. I figured it was just a few small pieces and was nothing to be concerned with, and to be honest, she had her coat on and was getting ready to leave the salon so I really couldn't even discuss this with her. As I got home that night, chuncks of broken and OVER PROCESSED peices of my hair continued to fall out. I was extremely shocked and horrified as this has never happened to me and I literally wanted to cry. The next day I called the salon back and told them what happened and the girl seemed very non-shalant about the whole situation and advised me to come back in, so I did, and lauren was certainly not happy to see me back. They made me feel so uncomfortable by coming back, when I was kind enough to give them the benefit of the doubt and fix their mistake so we could move on. Anyway, she was extremely rude and tried to convince me that and I quote "the only reason you think your hair is falling out is because you notice the blonde and not the brown, when everyday it is normal for hair peices to fall out" THIS WAS IN NO WAY NORMAL! Losing chuncks of hair is not normal for anyone, and esp. since this happened right after this awful bleach service, I knew the reason was that it was over processed. She rudely gave me a treatment and then told me if I wanted more highlights to look better, it would come out of my pocket. This was the worst experience I have had with a salon, and I was horrified by their terrible service and inexperienced stylists. Fortunately, I have found a great new stylist who did tell me it is NOT normal for breakage and that yes, my hair was overprocessed which lauren told me it was not. Now my hair is back to normal, thank God, and I am just so shocked by this place that they could be this bad and not seem to care. I strongly advise that if you care about the health, condition, and look of your hair, you should stay very far away from this place. I mean, honestly, words can't even describe how awful this place was.

I saw Lauren for my cut and highlight and she took the time to let me know what colors would work with my complextion. She was very professional and I have received many copliments on my color. I would recommed her to anyone. She did a wonderful job.

Hate to admit it but my husband is the one who found Michelle & Salon-Moxie!!!! It was time for an updated look and he requested the guidance of his lovely wife for his "makeover"! After glancing at a few pics we picked out from the hair books, Michelle totally "got" what we were looking for. She listened! She was finishing my sentences! I booked my next appt with her then & there! She has also done an amazinig job with me, always listens, always has great advice & does amazing work! Michelle is creative, talented & so super sweet. She does an amazing job & I would trust her to do anything to my hair!!!! The staff is soooo nice and they make you feel very welcome there. Modern trendy vibe but very comfy & friendly! Love them, would recommend anyone to them!!!!!

i saw Kristen to get some highlites done - i'm a natural blonde but like having some natural looking highlites throughout. she did an AMAZING job! i got great highlites and an amazing cut that gives my flat hair a lot of volume and oomph. loved her! i found my salon :)

I had a bad cut from a very well known salon downtown and had not been to a salon in 8 years. OK, I realized that's pretty extreme, but it was a really bad cut, and at the same time my wife and I became parents of twins so all extra money went into diapers and my long, curly hair went into a ponytail.

My initial consultation with Cara was great. When it was time for my cut she carefully went through my "wants" and explained ways she could allow me to revitalize my curls and clean things up. She is a TIGI trained stylist and it showed. She knew exactly what to do and my cut came out great. Thanks!

I received a gapped-up haircut from another salon that I won't mention. Went here and Patrick was able to fit me in and not only fix my cut, but show me a whole new look for me.

Like I said, knowledgeable people and each person is more friendly than the last.

I love the feel of the salon and how all of the people there are so friendly. Dana cuts and colors my hair and she also cuts my daughters hair who is only 6. I have been told that my hairstyle is one that is hard to master but Dana does an amazing job and always takes her time until she gets it just perfect. We change up my color almost every time that I am there, and like the cut, she always gets it right. I seem to get compliments on the color and cut everywhere that I go.

After too many awful haircuts, I stumbled across Salon Moxie and to my relief (and my hairs); I found a salon and stylist that listens to what I want! Everyone is so friendly, the atmosphere is awesome and I had a GREAT stylist (mad props Dana!)? I would highly recommend Salon Moxie to anyone who wants to look amazing and have a great experience!

This is the second salon in Raleigh I've visited and I'm definitely coming back. I love how the salon is styled...it looks like a very chic upscale salon, but the prices are in line with salons that don't spend that much on their appearance. The receptionist was very nice. I really liked the fact that my stylist, Cara, asked me what I've been doing to my hair (how I normally color and cut it) and asked me what products I use and how I normally style it. I've actually never been asked that by a stylist and it really made me realize she wanted my cut and color to work for me and my lifestyle. She did a really great job...I love the cut and color, and I'm very picky about my hair! This is the first salon I would recommend to a friend since moving to Raleigh!

Was referred to Salon Moxie, when I called to make an appt. the receptionist was super helpful. I got Cara for a cut and color. She did an amazing job and is super friendly! My entire family goes to Cara and we will be sticking with Salon Moxie! Thanks for keeping my hair looking great!!! 100 % recommend!

I went to salon moxie for the frst time, after being disappointed by some other salon experiences. Jenifer was my stylist and she did a great job. I had taken a picture of the haircut and style that I wanted with me and that helped a too. I had a $10 off coupon from citysearch. so I had a great haircut for $25. Their regular cost is $35 for a cut and I have already booked my next appointment. The receptionist was friendly too and I had no pressure to buy any product used on my hair. I highly recommend this salon.

I called Salon Moxie in a panic asking for someone to fix my color! Cara did just that! I will never forget what she did for me. Not only did she make my color perfect, she gave me a great haircut, and she has the sweetest personality.

I have been to Salon Moxie a total of 3 times, 3rd being my last. My services all 3 times have been the same, blonde full highlights, a toner, and a wet cut, as suggested by the stylist to optain the result I wanted, to be a cooler blonde. The first time, I was pleased with my my outcome. I showed my stylist a picture of what I am trying to accomplish and we were clear on this expectation. The second time, I felt that my hair was slightly overtoned and I had regrowth at about 2 weeks where I wanted to run to the salon and get a touch up. (Note, I have been dying my hair blonde for 8 years now). After my 3rd service, I was EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. I mentioned that I wanted my highlights chunkier, and they were still foiled thin. My hair was more overtoned, leaving my blonde locks with a dull, dark finish that completely destroyed the vibrance and color of the highlights. I went home and cried, I am still so unhappy. I called the salon and came in for a consultation to see how we can get my hair back to the color I wanted. We decided on waiting a week to let my hair rest. The new stylist agreed that what was done was not what I wanted and it can be corrected. 1 week later, I opted not to come back and called the salon, explaining that I don't want to damage my hair further. I spoke to the salon manager, who basically told me that what I asked for was what i got the first time around, that there was nothing wrong with my hair, and that the reason it came out different than usual is because of "stress, environmental change, or a switch in birth control". After 8 years of highlights, I can assure everyone reading this that although this is possible, it is not the case here. She continued to say that in the stylists' professional opinion, that was the best they could do. I asked how it is justifiable that I spent $200+ on this visit and hate my hair. She simply suggested having a consultation before we do color "next time". On all 3 visits, I had a consultation with my stylist. She would not give me a discount if I decided to come back, because according to her, I "got what I asked for" This woman did not even get a close look at my hair. My relationship with this salon is now ruined, and I am stuck with hair I hate for another month, and I need to find another salon. PLEASE, especially if you are going blonde, Do not risk going to this salon. My hair has also never been this dry from previous color treatments. I can understand having results that do not meet someone's expectations, but to not side with a customer who was practically in tears over their hair at a redo consultation is poor customer service in my opinion. I look forward to trying a new salon and liking my hair again.

I've had long hair my whole life. When I finally decided to chop it all off, I was honestly a little terrified. I walked into Salon Moxie to get a feel for the place and possibly make an appointment, my fears were immediately put to rest.

A friend and coworker had recently been to Salon Moxie for a new style and suggested I check it out. I'm glad she did!!

Jennifer made the whole process amazingly easy. She's wonderful! I didn't know what I was looking for, but I knew I wanted something different. I took her advice and I'm glad I did! Never in my life have I been happy with even a trim, but Jennifer made me ecstatic! I can't stop touching my new hair, and love that it's perfect for me and my lifestyle. (And guess what else? It makes me look younger & sexier too!!)

Thank you SO much! I will DEFINITELY be back!!

I have been to Salon Moxie several times and each time I have been very happy with the service and results! The stylist I have been to and keep returning to is Kellie S. Most importantly, she listens very well and doesn't deviate from the discussed outcome, as is the story most people experience a few times in life when the stylist just keeps cutting...or doesn't communicate well...
Anyway, Kellie is awesome and she did a clean style for my wedding day in August of '08 (the groom's gotta stand out, right?). My beloved bride approved of it enthusiastically! BIG style points to Kellie for helping me make the most of our special day and being friendly and relaxed as well.

I'm glad I read some of these reviews because it reminds me I need to bring a cash tip next time.
The music in the salon may be just a touch too loud, but maybe that's because we were trying to have an ongoing conversation. There were a few times I felt as if I was talking over the noise. I am also softspoken sometimes too....
I like that I was not being blinded by white flourescent bulbs and there is a lot of natural light in the salon.
The prices are competetive also, which is very nice.

I have gone to Salon Moxie twice & always been satisfied. The first time I brought the advertised coupon which some places turn their noses up when you bring in a coupon or gift card - not Salon Moxie. No upsell on products which is rare and appreciated. Jenna was my stylist last & she took time to talk to me about what I wanted and didn't want. They were able to get me in on a Saturday afternoon when I called Wednesday afternoon.
Be aware - they can't/don't add tip to a debit or credit card - bring cash!

. A few days ago, my daughter decided she wanted to donate her beloved pony tail to "Locks of Love". I was very proud of her decision but I quickly turned into a frazzled dad when I went online and found out that we had to have it cut, measure it, pack it properly, fill out paperwork and ship it out. I then found the link to Salon Moxie here in Raleigh. The website was easy and quick to read. I called and felt like I had ?won the jackpot? as the very kind receptionist said they did everything for us. All we had to do was come to the appointment and fill out the paper work. They were even able to make her an appointment the SAME DAY!! When my wife and daughter showed up, Jennifer, her stylist and the rest of the ?Moxie crew? made her feel like a ?rock star? and gave her a new style that is incredible! It made such an impression on my wife that she has an appointment set up for herself today with Jennifer.

After searching for a stylist in Raleigh, I finally found a great one! Lauren gave me an amazing haircut and was so friendly to talk to. She gave me her opinion, but let me choose what I wanted, and showed me the products she used but didn't pressure me to buy them. Very friendly receptionist, very affordable, excellent overall!! I would recommend Salon Moxie to anyone. Ask for Lauren!!

I had not been to a stylist in several years but my hair color was just awful so I decided to check this place out for a color correction. I am so glad I did! I was dying my hair with box color and it was supposed to be blonde, but was brassy and terrible. Aaron not only corrected my hair color, but gave me a beautiful darker blonde color with lots of dimension....a very natural look. He was very kind and reassuring, and made me feel hopeful about my hair again. I am so pleased and will definitely be back!

This was my first time to Salon Moxie, and Jenna and I really clicked. She had only been at the salon for a month, but seemed really knowledgeable. I came in with a couple of ideas about what I wanted, and she helped me narrow it down by thinking about what cut and color would look best with my complexion, eyes, and face. She really boosted my confidence in a shorter cut by repeatedly telling me how it would make my hair look fuller and would look great with my features. She was very knowledgeable about Redken coloring products, which she explained Moxie had recently switched to after using Wella. She understood that money was a factor and helped me choose colors that wouldn't be as obvious while growing out, so that I can go a bit longer between appointments.

The Salon is in a bit of a random location, in the North Ridge shopping center, but I like that "diamond in the rough" element. And, because it wasn't in some hyper-cool location, like Glenwood South or Five Points, it felt friendly and not intimidating. I'd recommend it to anyone, and I'd recommend Jenna has a stylist. She has a great sense of humor and kept me laughing all through my appointment!

Receptionist was not friendly and a little rude. Tipping policy is strange and out of date.

i came to salon moxie recently after deciding to get a short do. something i havent had in years. My stylist sat me down and took the time to make me feel comfortable about doing this, giving me the courage and the trust in him to take the step. He was professional and was absolutely amazing at what he did. He showed me how to style my hair and again, actually took the time to make sure that i understood what he was doing. Ive never loved my hair so much and i get compliments every day. I really appreciated his expertise, professionalism and his way of making me feel comfortable. I really enjoyed my experience but the receptionist was curt and disinterested, and the stylists all seemed to be almost scared of her. Poor show for such great talent.

I am new to Raleigh and researched salons on citysearch for a few weeks...but finally I decided to go to Salon Moxie (it is close to my home & has many satisfied customers). I didn't regret it!! I got my hair done today by Jenna who is a new stylist at the salon, but she listened to my concerns, gave me her honest opinion on what style would work for me, and she did an excellent cut & color. I got the "change" I wanted and I highly recommend Jenna at Salon Moxie!

Wow! I just returned to my office after getting my hair cut with Dana at Salon Moxie. She is phenomenal. In my own business I stress that we deliver the absolute best in customer serv ice. Given that, I look for and appreciate that level of service when I'm in the community. Dana offers exceptional service and a high quality cut while helping create an atmposphere of fun and relaxation.

I recommend her highly.

Great place! I came here on a whim (well, a whim guided by that 10 dollar off coupon) and hoped for the best. I got Lauren, who was just fabulous- trimmed up my graduated bob expertly and for once, NOT TOO SHORT! Pretty much everywhere I go, it ends up too short, but not this time. Not to mention, she was incredibly nice and fun to chat with while she cut. I didn't get any pressure to buy products as I've seen in some reviews, either. They do fill out a little form with the products they used on you that day, but no one tried to badger me into purchasing any. All in all a great experience - I'll be back for sure. The prices are good and the salon interior was lovely as well. Give it a shot if you're unsure - and ask for Lauren!

I don't know why I've waited until now after numerous trips to Moxie Salon to submit a review on this site. I see Aaron at the salon but everyone seems great! This last visit I explained I was bored of my hair style and Aaron made some small changes to ease me into a new 'do, but showed me 4 different things I could do to my hair to make it different. I've never had that great of customer service from any salon stylist that would take the time to help me to such an extent as that. Moxie Salon will leave you feeling great about your hair, great about yourself, and in such a pleasant mood. The entire staff is just pleasant. I recommend this salon to anyone looking for a new place for a haircut or color.

I'm new to the area and have tried so many salons, and left them all a little bummed. Now I have nothing to worry about! Salon Moxie is the best salon I've encountered in the area. The staff is super friendly, the salon is hip and fun, and there is a vibe of energy and a great team of stylists. My stylist, Aaron, did wonders for my slightly ruined color and horribly uneven cut, from all my hop-around visits in the area. I won't be going anywhere else! Go to Moxie and ask for Aaron, you'll be glad you did.

I would say the cut was alright, but it wasn't a cut which is the current fashion style. I mean, the cut was a little behind the times. So, maybe the salon could do a little updating on their techniques and products to become more up to date. Also, the receptionist was a little short with my 3 year old children.

I had previously had a hard time finding a stylist in the Triangle area because the places were either very pricey or just the typical "get em in and out" kind. A friend of mine recommended Michelle at Moxie and I went in this morning for a cut and I am very pleased and grateful to have met such a warm and knowledgeable stylist! Michelle took so much time explaining the products and how to style my hair. She had lots of suggestions on how to wear it and made me feel so beautiful. It was quite a unique experience and I am very excited about my new do! I was so impressed with Michelle that I am even going back this afternoon for a color. At last, I have found my girl!!
If you want excellent quality hair care in a warm and friendly environment, you should really try Salon Moxie! I look forward and am excited about all the future hairstyles that Michelle and I will get to experiment with in the future!

I thought the stylist did a good job initially, but when i got home, the cut was not as good as i thought. i tried this salon out because i had a coupon, i don't think i will go back and try another stylist. there was a lot of pressure to buy products. I had high expectations since this salon was so highly rated.

I messed up my own hair by dying it at home. Moxie took me in (this wasn't the first time I had been there) and they took care of my self-made mess. They didn't make me feel like an idiot, they were swift in assisting me with selecting a color, and even after the coloring was done and it was a tad too dark for me, Aaron (my super stylist) worked on it some more, never making me feel like I was wasting his time (like so many stylists at other salons may).
I have also taken my oldest daughter there for Locks of Love, and my two little girls have been customers of theirs.
We are all extremely pleased with their service. AND they give great massages on your head when getting your hair washed:)

my stylist ellen, did give a very good cut, and if you are watching your money, and not ready to pay Von Kekel prices, this is a good alternative salon to try. I did feel some pressure to purchase products recommended to me, and the reason I came to this salon is that I'm watching my pennies, other wise I would go to the high end salon, like a Von Kekel. Overall, there is talent to be found at Salon moxie, and they do have coupons in the money mailers, which, if you find one, it is worth giving this salon a try.

This place is great! They do a fantastic job at a great price. Go to Brittany, she knows what she is doing and will not lead you in the wrong direction. You will walk out looking great and feeling great too. She listened to all of my concerns and gave great advice. She gave me the best cut and color i have ever had and i am able to recreate my look at home because she took the time to teach me what to do with my new look! I am so happy with the results and tell everyone i know to go to her.

I came in to get my hair cut and saw an awesome girl named Nichole and she rocks! NEVER had a more enjoyable shampoo (it's all about the head massage) and the hair cut was great! This is my new favorite place to go get my hair cut!

I absolutely LOVE Salon Moxie! I've been two times now and will not go anywhere else. I have had both of my appointments with their stylist Aaron. I have never been happy with my color until he got a hold on my hair. He gave me exactly what I described and managed to rid of all of my brassy color left behind from years of unsuccessful highlights. My cut is perfect for my needs and much easier to manage than ever before. He worked really well with my natural curl that I have never cared for and made it FABULOUS! Not only that but also taught me all about how, why, where, and what to put in my hair and also gave me a thorough run through on what was being done to style my hair! I brought home lots of tips and tricks to styling my hair so I can finally get great results on styling my hair by myself. It's been a few weeks since my last appointment and not a day goes by without a great compliment on my new style. I would tell anyone to go to Salon Moxie!

I'm sorry to say that I had a similar experience to another rater with an uneven haircut. I had been there about 3 times before, and the haircuts had been done well. The last time, the haircut was so uneven that I had to go back there so someone else could fix it. I have long-ish layered hair., straight as a pin, and really easy to cut. It was as though this person forgot to cut one side. It was visible especially in the front, where on one side the front top layers were about to my nose andon the other the shortest were almost to my shoulders. I'm talking a difference of two inches here. When I went back, a different person did a great job on it and it was free. However, they were not apologetic at all, and they did not seem surprised. When she combed it up in the back, you could see the sharp slant from one side to another. The other two or three stylists there have been good, but this one I had can not be trusted. I really wanted to like it....it's closeby, good prices. But I just can't gamble on having uneven hair!

This was my second time at Moxie, and I was not disappointed at all. The first time I tried Moxie, I donated my hair to Locks of Love and received a free haircut. One of the owners, Joelle, cut my hair. She was so wonderful! Chatted with me the entire time and was a great conversationalist. I was nervous because I was having 14 inches cut off , but she did a fantastic job on my hair!

The second time I went, Nichole styled my hair. She was also so nice, and she did an amazing job on my hair. I brought in pictures and asked her opinion about them. She was so enthusiastic about the styles I picked, which made me feel so good and never nervous about having my hair cut short again!

The lady at the front desk was also super friendly. When I was done with my haircut, she loved it and was so excited about it.

The price of Moxie cannot be beat. Usually when you go to a salon you pay at least $60 and up for a hair style. Not at Moxie! It is worth every penny.

Also, the hair stylists are so good about explaining to you what they are doing when they style your hair after the cut, so you know how to do it when you go home. Wonderful!

I have definitely found the salon that I will be using for all of my hair needs.

I went to salon moxie on a whim, and got Nichole, she did a great job on my hair, I haven't gone anywhere else since. She's really easy going and has a great since of style, I mean the girl could have her own salon easily! Plus it's never busy you have plenty of privacy and time to get what you want right! I'm soo happy I've found someone cool to cut my hair!

I highly recommend you see Nichole at Salon Moxie. I decided to cut almost 8 inches off my hair and I was extremely nervous. My hair looks amazing. Nichole took the time to look at pictures and discuss all my options with me. She explained what styles would work best for my hair type and gave me a lesson on how to style it when I get home. It has been a few days and I love my hair more and more each day. I have told all my friends to go see her. I feel so pretty. Thank you!

I have never had my hair colored and did not know what to expect. I left everything up to Nichole and I was amazed by the results. My hair looks beautiful. I have not felt this good in years. My husband and co workers can not stop complimenting me on it. She has an eye for it and knew exactly what to do.
She is so sweet and the conversation is great. She pampers you from the time you get in until the time you leave. I will be telling everyone to go see her. Even my sister from Maryland has booked an appointment.

Nichole is by far the best stylist to ever touch my hair! She really listens to what you want and makes it happen! She has done numerous cuts and color on my hair and she always exceeds my expectations! She is so much fun...the time just seems to fly by when i'm there. She is so warm and friendly and easy to talk to! I totally trust her when it comes to my hair...i just don't worry about a thing. I highly recommed Nichole! Go see her and be prepared to be WOWed!

Salon Moxie offers a unique experience suited to your individual style. All the stylists are extremely talented and knowledgeable. The vibe is wonderful and very hip. I'm glad I can get the style I desire without having to break the bank. In fact, other salons charge more but I don't get the same level of service or satisfaction with them. I recommend Salon Moxie to everyone!

I wrote another review about Haircolorexperts at Cameron Village about my botched haircut there, so if you're interested in my story, check that out. After trying to find ways to style my horrible haircut from there and still feeling horrible about my hair for over a month, I decided to venture back to citysearch and try to find another salon. Salon Moxie popped up, and a friend told me that she loved it there, so I decided to give it a shot.

When I arrived, I was 15 minutes early and the receptionist told me my stylist was on her break, so it would be a few minutes. She called Stacie, my wonderful stylist, and Stacie actually returned from her break early for me! That was the first sign that this was going to be a positive experience.

I explained the botched haircut to Stacie and basically asked her how she could help me without cutting too much length from my hair because I wanted to keep it long. We talked for a solid 5 minutes about how I wanted my hair to look, what I liked and didn't like, and the entire time she was studying my hair, feeling the texture and giving me ideas and her thoughts. We made the decision about how to cut it and then she went to work after a nice relaxing shampoo.

She was extremely friendly and fun to talk to while cutting my hair, and I never once felt nervous about her taking the scissors to my hair. Once she had dried and styled it, I almost cried tears of joy. Not only had she somehow taken a completely botched haircut and made it look amazing, but she gave me the best haircut I have ever had! My hair was beautifully shaped for my face, it was bouncy and healthy looking, the layers were soft and texturized and she still managed to only cut about 2-3 inches off my length!

If you are looking for an amazing haircut at the best price in town (only $35!!!) please don't try any other salon - go to see Stacie at Salon Moxie! I will no longer shop around for salons, I have found the perfect stylist.

I recently had my hair cut and highlighted by Mary Taylor and I can say with total confidence that it is the BEST haircut I've ever had. She did exactly what I asked for and offered her own suggestions as well, which were much appreciated. Even though I was getting a fairly basic, short bob and highlight, she took over 3 hours highlighting, cutting and styling it. She also made sure to show me some tips with the straightening iron on how to style it and what products to use. By using those tips, I've actually been able to recreate the look she gave me in the salon - a first for me!!! I can't even begin to tell you how many compliments I've gotten on my hair. Even from my husband who is typically a long hair fan. That was my first experience with Mary Taylor and I will definitely book with her again. The day I went in was her last day with Salon Moxie because she'd been promoted to Samuel Cole. I would highly recommend this stylist and will be following her to Samuel Cole in the future!!!

I always take a lot of pride in how my hair looks and get lots of compliments about how cute it is. But after visiting Salon Moxie it will be a while before compliments come my way again. The best thing I can say is that the salon is cute. I visited for the first time and the stylist took about 3 minutes for the consultation. The haircut was done in less than 15. Once it was dried I immediately noticed upon looking in the mirror that it was terribly uneven. After I pointed it out to the stylist she promptly took a few cuts out of one side and pronounced that I was ready to go. I probably should have said more about my hair but was ready to get out of there before more damage could be done. I paid for the haircut and got in my car. I stared in my rear view mirror for a while noticing even more how uneven it was and just how much shorter it was than I had hoped. I didn?t know what to do so I quickly drove to another salon to ask for help. Upon asking for a stylist at the second salon to look at my hair I quickly became the topic of conversation among all the stylists. I was the girl who had just gotten a crappy haircut. The second stylist checked my hair for about 20 minutes and kept commenting about how uneven my hair was and how she couldn?t tell just what the first stylist was trying to do. She spent almost an hour with me trying to correct what had happened to my hair at Salon Moxie. She stated that it was so short in some areas that she was just going to have to leave it alone and let it grow out. I can appreciate that there are new stylists at Salon Moxie and not everyone has years of experience. I will warn everyone out there who is looking for a cute, hip place to get your haircut that you should think twice before having it done at Salon Moxie. I absolutely will not return and will discourage others as well. I can honestly say that in my 30+ years of life that this was the worst haircut experience that I ever had.

My first visit to Salon Moxie was fantastic. I had Jessica for a highlight/lowlight and haircut. Not only was she sweet and energetic but she listened to what I wanted and gave me her advice for a change in my color for fall. My hair looks fabulous and my cut is amazing. I woke up this morning and felt like I didn't have to work half as hard as I used to to receive the style I wanted to achieve. I would tell anyone to visit Salon Moxie with it's edgy and bright atmosphere and wonderful stylist such as Jessica, I don't think anyone could leave there unhappy!

I just moved to Raleigh from NYC and have to admit I was a little nervous about finding a top salon to cut my hair. I like to have very modern short haircuts and often find it hard to find a stylist that gets what I want. I've been to Samuel Cole twice now and loved it but after a recommendation from a friend to try Salon Moxie for its slightly younger vibe I decided to try it out. This Saturday I went to Mary Taylor. She did an awesome job on my cut. She gave me exactly what I asked for and then made the cut even better with some suggestions that really softened the cut up and made it even cooler. I will definitly go back to Mary Taylor for regular cuts and trims. Thanks Mary Taylor!!

I have to say that I am very impressed with my experience at Salon Moxie. My stylist was Lauren and she was AWESOME!!! I am SO happy with my hair cut! I have been to soooooo many salons where I've gotten either bad hair cuts, stylists that just don't listen, or where the people seem very stuck up. Salon Moxie and Lauren were none of those. She really listened to what I was looking for and my hair turned out better than I could've imagined. Not only was she very talented but she was also very sweet and fun to talk to. I highly recommend seeing Lauren when you visit Salon Moxie!!!

my first visit to salon moxie and first time meeting erin i was very nervous! i didn't know what to expect and am not very good at explaining how i like to have my hair cut and colored. not only was erin sweet and welcoming but she was professional and skilled! i loved moxie's hip atmosphere and look foward to my future appointments with erin.. you also don't find many hair salons that are "customer service friendly" these days-- i was pleasantly surprised, even checking in and out. She knew exactly what I meant, and gave me the perfect style. A few home shampoos and stylings later, and I still love it. Shannon was friendly and knowledgeable. The $10 coupon got me in the door, but the service will get me to go back!

I really liked my experience at Salon Moxie. I actually went there specifically because I knew the stylists were young. I figured they would be able to give me the most modern cuts & styles:) And they did! I didn't know my stylist would be a guy until I got there, but I was happily surprised with Kegan. He was really attentive to what I wanted to try & gave me great advice about my style & my cut, which is what I love. I hate stylists with "no opinion" on my haircut - you do this for a living, you have to be thinking something!! Kegan was super friendly, so easy to talk to & gave me great info about products, different styling options & advice for future cuts/options for down the road. I only wish they would have let me know when I booked the appointment that a tip had to be left in cash or check, and couldn't be left on a credit/debit card. I never carry cash & I live an hour away, so I couldn't leave Kegan a much-deserved tip!! I'll be back in a month or so for another cut & will give you a double tip then!! :) Another plus: I called in the morning & booked an appointment for that afternoon! They also allow walk-ins, which is so convenient for us last-minute people!

I went to Salon Moxie today after having my hair badly highlighted somewhere else. Erin did an amazing job. She really listened to what I wanted and gave me a great blonde color and a wonderful cut. I told her I was growing out my hair and she was able to trim it to keep it healthy while keeping the length and giving it shape. If you are looking for someone who really cares about what you want, you should give Erin a try.

When I went home after getting my hair cut and colored at Salon Moxie, my husband summed it up: "I really think that's the best you've ever had." I couldn't agree more! The color perfectly complements my face and skin tones, and that's because the stylist took all kinds of time and asked all sorts of questions to get us to that place. And the cut? You know you've got a great hair cut when you get up the next morning, sort of shake it out, and you're good to go. I was also privileged to listen as the owner -- Joelle Ray -- worked with her stylists, teaching them what would seem to be little details -- from how to seat a client in the chair to how to give the best head massage you can imagine (it's worth going there just for that massage!) -- but that translate into a wonderful experience for the client. I appreciated the fact that she doesn't just hire a stylist and let them "do their thing" however they've been trained. It appears to me that, regardless of the more moderate price, all the care and attention you would receive at the Rays' more upscale Samuel Cole Salon is brought to bear on clients of Salon Moxie. The atmosphere is also delightfully upbeat, casual, and fun. And the environment is so cool; they're sponsoring revolving art exhibits. What hair salon does that? Only a salon with "moxie." Will I go back? I won't go anywhere else!

I have to say that I loved the greeting I got when I walked into Salon Moxie...the receptionist was so friendly and attentive. I had decided to try this salon because I knew the same people who owned Samuel Cole Salon owned this one too. I wanted something cool and fun and stylist who would give me a great look that worked with my budget. I am glad I did. I love my hair. I usually go to Mtchell's but never felt pampered or important so I've been looking but no longer. You should give them a try. I went because I liked the idea of the cost not being outrageous but I'll go back because they did a fantastic quality job. Thanks!

Salon Moxie promotes itself on offering the style of upscale salons like its sister salon Samule Cole without the high prices - however $35 is still a little too steep when you're getting your hair cut from a stylist fresh out of school (while I was there two stylists were practicing on fake heads in the salon!). My stylist did a great job on my hair and definitely paid a lot of attention to the style however I got a haircut just a nice as the one I received here for $20 at an Aveda school salon with a stylist with just as much experience. If the haircuts were priced lower - say around $25 - I would recommend this place but it's still a little too expensive considering the inexperience of the stylists who work here.

My stylist listened to what I wanted done to my hair, she even gave me tips on how to style it (I can't do my hair...at all). So she gave it a cute cut which made it easier to do nothing with and still look good, and gave me pointers on how to make it look like I put some effort into it.

The prices are really great too, especially if you take advantage of their $10 coupon for using City Search.

The ONLY bad thing, is the shampoo sinks, they hurt your neck! But I suppose that happens most places.
