Reading the reviews, you would think "no way am I going there!"...but less than 2 months ago, Professional Fitness (housed within Peak Fitness on Falls of the Neuse) was taken over by the BEST OF THE BEST! Wade Harris and his amazing team from Phase 2 Personal Training moved from their facility to make the changes that were (obviously) in dire need to be made. Now, it's easy to look good when things have been so bad, and I do understand, since I had a previous nightmare situation with another gym of the same name!...but there is just NO comparison. Wade Harris is one of the most remarkable individuals I have ever met. His knowledge and expertise is only outdone by his personal attention to individuals who he trains...motivating them to make changes that once appeared insurmountable. He leads this team, many new hires for this changing facility, with passion and commitment. His assistant, Cathy and other trainers, most noteably, James,...bring the same consistent, caring and "raise the bar" attitude. I hope that readers realize that there is a new leader in the house and their untapped potential is only a workout away! Call Cathy and set up an appointment now,...I promise you.. you won't be sorry! Maura S.

Pros: The trainers, palpable energy and enthusiasm

Cons: The gym itself is in need of work; especially the locker rooms

If you have an expired contract with
Professional Fitness of
7413 Six Forks Rd. #363
Raleigh, NC 27615
watch out! When you think your contract has expired it automatically renews unless you cancel "the right way". Much to my unpleasant surprise, I went online today to check my balance in my checking and noticed that they had debited my account for $240. I called them to discuss it and they said that I had not canceled my contract properly so it automatically renewed. I asked them for my money back and they declined. They said I could have sessions with a trainer instead. I said, "I don't want sessions, I want my money back". They said, "We're sorry we will not be refunding your money".

This is an unethical, dishonest way of keeping your clients. I suggest that any one that has been ripped off off by them contact Attorney General Roy Coopers office as well as The B. B. B. Also contact Monica Laliberte with WRAL's Five On Your Side. I have done all of this.

Pros: My trainer was good

Cons: The company stinks!

Stupid me, I didn't notice that unless you send a request to have your contract end when it is SUPPOSED to they will automatically keep taking money from you. I should have known that signing a six month contract didn't mean six months, really. I couldn't get a trainer for weeks, the manager would sign me up for appointments during the work day without asking me and when I finally did get a good trainer, they ripped him off and he quit. Then I got one who could barely maintain her interest in me for the short time we were together- I was never given exercises to do at home, never given a diet plan, never reweighed, never remeasured.

Skip them and PEAK fitness- the place is a ripoff. They keep charging for gym improvement that NEVEr happens.

Pros: In the gym

Cons: bad customer service, unethical practices

Professional Fitness operates out of Peak Fitness/Beyond Fitness. I bought 36 sessions and worked with a trainer for months. My trainer left?quit?fired? The remaining trainers said they were resetting schedules and would get me a new trainer. They didn't call me. When I asked at the gym they could not find my file. No one would take respondsibility to researching and getting back with me. I asked the Peak manager for help but he said it was not his problem. I then went to the main office for help. The phone number I was given was invalid. I then had to do my own research to get a valid number. I called and the voicemail was either full or no return phone call. I sent emails and did not get a reponse. After paying for my 36 sessions in full they are now billing me for an auto-renewal. Only now do I get a response and when I asked for my paperwork and remaining sessions they wanted my credit card information.

Cons: There are too many cons to list, check with Roy Cooper
