First, the waitstaff and Manager Matt Klepp was amazing! It was our first experience as a family and the staff made sure we were more than taken care of. Our drinks took a moment, but with all the martinis we ordered it wasn't a big deal. The waitperson knew exactly how to handle our indecisive group by suggesting everything from drinks, apps to entrees! When the wine was served the waitperson was very knowledgeable and was able to keep the bottles coming since my mother-in-law was hosting for our group. After the meal was served and everything was cleared, we were having such a nice family night we weren't ready to leave. The waitstaff was very patient and by the time we finished our left over wine we were still reluctant to leave so the waiter suggested dessert which no one had room for or coffee but after hearing our choices (and the food was really amazing) some of us made the decision to order and even order some to go. Before finishing our coffee, drinks, and dessert my family have already made plans to come back in October when our out of town family visited again. I read where someone had posted that Old Stone did not compare to the Woodshed in Stanley, but I beg to differ! Not to say anything but the standards there have declined greatly over the years! If you want a great steak, especially prime rib, or just great food in general in Gaston County this is the only place to come. I noticed the previous posts were from a few years ago so I had to post what you're experience would be like today if you visited Old Stone! I live in Charlotte and have eaten at almost every fine dining restaurant in the past 18 years and Old Stone is worth driving the 20 minutes to Belmont! I hope this helps and if you've had a bad experience in the past please give Old Stone another try! I promise you won't regret it!

They weren't accepting anymore reservations. Waited as a walk in for 45 minutes while there were 4 tables empty (it took my wife and I 40 minutes after being seated to eat, pay and leave). I ordered off of the the Charlotte restaurant menu, my wife ordered alacarte. 6 oz petite fillet medium with a side of shrimp..... the steak was massacred, the shrimp looked like the ones you get from the local grocery that you have to thaw with the center piece of cocktail sauce for a tailgate. They did comp the steak and shrimp but way over priced for Belmont or anywhere else. We would never go back for any reason!!!

Myself and my family ate at the Old Stone Steakhouse for the first time this past Friday night 1-6-2012. We had a party of 10.

I can say the atmosphere and the staff are excellent, though I can't say the same about the food. It wasn't the worst I have had yet it wasn't the best. Lackluster or passable I can say it was. We were a little cramped on space for a party that size, had the food been a better quality, I could even handle the space limitation. Several of us had steak, no one was impressed. It was on the tough side and the salad came with those cheap horseshoe potato sticks you get in a can at Food Lion.

I applaud them on their accommodations and service but a restaurant's main focus should be their food. They are in the same price range as the WoodShed in Stanley yet the food at the Woodshed is MILES above Old Stone. I live in Belmont and was looking forward to having a nice upscale steakhouse in town so I guess I am still waiting. It will be a while before I go back to Old Stone. If anyone looks for me eating in Belmont, I'll be at Sammy's!

I visited there for my son's graduation dinner...The food was very good, but the service was lousy. Our waiter was more intent on talking to the girl seating people and the bartender than noticing that we needed more drinks etc. at our table. Almost, had to grab him at times to get him to pay attention to our table. Then they charged us a 18% gratuity because we were a party of six. Was not pleased at all with service.

I was in Old Stone 3-24-10 having dinner with my fiance, but the little comments that the kitchen had to make made this one of the worst experiences in any restaurant i have ever had. We were eating crab legs and the server to let the kitchen know said i have another re-order for you and he made the comment i know gee thanks. Then later as they were breaking down the kitchen he made the comment again loud enough for us to hear it that he cant do anything else until those people stop eating the crab legs. So i came home and emailed the vice president of old stone and he did not even bother to reply or apologize. I myself serve tables in a fine dining establishment and was a chef in the same fine dining restaurant. If you do not want to take care of the customers as that chef surly did not then he should not be in this business because until the last table leaves happy, people in the service industries job is not over. I do not recommend Old stone to anyone.

I took my teenage daughters there last night. I have had their steak-burgers (best in NC) and last night had a steak, also best I have ever had. Wonderful atmosphere, prices are not cheap but worth every penny.

This is my favorite restaurant in Gaston County! The food is absolutely wonderful. My husband especially enjoys the steaks. I love the house salad and the steaks and veggies as well. Everything is so good and it is such a nice atmosphere too.

Old Stone is comparable to any of the steakhouses in Charlotte. The steaks are incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. Service is fabulous, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality of food. If you are looking for fine dining without driving to Charlotte, Old Stone is it!

Simply put, the steaks at Old Stone Steakhouse are to die for. They are as good (or better) than the steaks served at Ruth's Chris steakhouse (and much more affordable!) We also love the mashed potatoes and gravy. They are addictive! The wedge style salad almost looks like a dessert when they bring it - it is topped with dried cranberries, potato sticks, and other yummy things.

They also offer an early bird special some week nights from 5-6pm, but there is only a chopped steak on that menu - none of their regular steaks (TRY THE FILET! YUM!!!)

My wife and I drove into Belmont from Charlotte to eat here, Service was good, food, not. I started with a rather expensive appetizer of their BBQ ribs, which included 5 or 6 tiny babyback ribs, with very little meat on them. Drenched in an overpowering sauce. But the kicker was the 14 oz. cowboy ribeye I got, thinking steak was their specialty. Steak although ordered medium, was rubbery-tough. It reminded me of a steak that was frozen. After waiting 35 minutes for it, despite being the first customers in the place, I didn't want to wait. The manager's response was lachodasic, at best. I didn't want a free meal, I wanted him to know we wouldn't be back and why. He didn't care. A shame.

Pros: Bread was good. Service was good.

Cons: Steak was too tough. Grits were mediocre, and $2 more than the other sides??? My wife's pasta was decent, not for the money.
