The atmosphere is very comforting and relaxing.
Linas experience provides you with the satisfaction that you?re getting the best. I almost get the sense that she does this because she genuinely likes helping people, and wants people to feel happy about themselves.

I can?t compare this spa to any others because of the fact that I haven?t been to any other in the area. Actually, this was the first spa I have ever gone too, and I am so glad I picked this one. Before I decided on which spa was right for me, I did what your doing right now?read reviews on the local day spa?s in the area, with a concentration in facials, and more specifically, microderm abrasions. Being a young guy, I was a little apprehensive about even stepping foot in such a place, but really felt welcomed from ?hello?. Lina?s assistant Emily did a wonderful job throughout my treatment session, which consisted of a facial, microderm abrasion, followed by a chemical peel, lasting about an hour each time, for a total of six sessions. I am pleased with my results. Don?t wait any longer, schedule an appointment today.

I found skin essence one day and went in to check it out. I ended up asking about my blackheads and Lina was so helpful, explaining to me why I couldn't get them out myself. I booked an appointment for microdermabrasion and a peel. I ended up getting vitalight too, which I love!! Lina is not just an esthetician that puts a mask on your face and washes it off.She is a wonderful source of knowledge on skin care and takes the time to give you all the tools you need to keep your skin beautiful. I am so happy that my blackheads are gone and now I know how to take care of my skin!

I have been trying to improve my skin for years. I get regular peals and facials and thought my skin was doing just fine.....UNTIL, I moved to raleigh and found Lina. She has transformed my skin in just 4 treatments.
I did not know the results I have seen were possible as I always get facial treatments in the hopes of decreasing my pore size and evening out my color.
Her level of knowledge is truly amazing.

I don't know what Lina does with the facial solutions, it surely works for me. My wrinkles are lots less and are almost invisible. Lina really cares about the skin and always tries to do her best to customize the solution.
I also love the powder product she recommended to me, my face feels tight and smooth every time after I use it.

I have tried a few sauna and detox in the area, this is the best Sauna and detox I found by far. I really feel great after the Sauna and plus it really makes me sweat! :-D

I have gone to Lina for years and would not go to anyone else. I can't afford to go too often even though I get a lot for my money with Lina. She always tries to do the most for me she can within my budget. Even with a budget she has done amazing things with my skin. I went recently to have my eye brows waxed and was tellng her that I wanted a microderm abrasion, she told me about ProPeel. I decided to do it that day because I completely trust Lina. The results are amazing. It took years off of my skin and my skin is glowing, firm and fresh looking (at 43). I love Lina and think she really cares about her clients. She is dedicated to what she does and always stays on top of the latest trends and has the best products. She IS the spa you should go to if you want beautiful skin.

I am so delighted with the results I've gotten with Lina. She customizes solutions that work specifically for your issues (mine were sensitive skin, firmness, tiny lines, and age spots). She has given me what I would call a "beauty roadmap" -- a long-term plan that will help me look my best as I age. She has also worked with my husband, who is a hard "sell", transforming his skin (with acne scars and little brown spots) to his best skin ever! She has helped me with everything from eyebrows to makeovers to detox...and while you are treated like royalty at her spa, it's never stuffy or uncomfortable. Very welcoming. I will be going to Lina until forever! And did I mention, that she was a surgeon in China? So she has extensive medical background and is very competent with her procedures. Plus, I love her! Being a person that has suffered from acne pretty much my whole life, words can't explain how much Lina and Skin Essence has helped me. I tried so many things to clear my skin, but nothing has given me the results like Lina's treatments. I was a little skeptical at first, the treatments were unlike anything I had ever experienced, and it took lots of time and patience. Lina encouraged me through the whole process and sure enough I began seeing results. I have been seeing Lina for almost a year now, and my skin has never looked better. I am a licensed esthetician that came across Lina after struggling with acne throughout my pregnancy and a few months beyond. I was crushed by my skin every time I looked in the mirror. Up to a year ago, I didn't really believe in Facial spas, because it's expensive and I always use some good brands that I believed worked well for me. A year ago, I started to notice that there are some new lines around my eyes. One of my good friend told me that Lina does the best facial in RTP. So I tried .... All I can say is: One year after I started to let Lina to take care my face, my face skin looks smoothier, and the fine lines are almost gone, there are less pores on my face, my nose is not as red and oily as before, and most importantly, I don't feel depressed and worried that I am getting older and look older.

Lina Yang truly believes in providing best service. The first time when she tried to advise me to use her products, I was shocked how expensive they are.... so I told Lina that I didn't want to spend too much money at once. After a year of going her spa, I realize that Lina truly cares and wants to help with my skin, and I really like some of her products because she chose the products based on my skin type and neeeds, she didn't just push those products to me to use. Recently I visted Skin Essence A Day Spa recommended by my best friend. I had really bad acne skin since I was a teenager. I've tried many different treatments, including antibiotics and other day spas, but nothing worked. When I visited Skin Essence, I was extremly impressed with my result from the first acne treatment I received. Everybody around me, my family and coworkers noticed the change in my skin complection, and the decrease in my pimples. I was so excited to see my new skin that has been hiding under my acne for years! Lina made me really comfortable by explaining to me the procedures, the price, the length of treatment and the result that I should expect after my treatment. She spent an extra 30 minutes with me on the first visit explaning to me the special cleansing technique she designed that I need to use in order to enhance my acne treatment. Not only did she teach me it, she even went through it step by step with me. She analysed my skin using the skin scope and magnify lamp inch by inch. Every product she recommended for my skin showed tremendous result. Lina truly cares about my skin and does her best to help my acne problem. Skin Essence staffs are wonderful and very friendly. I had a pedicure there and really enjoyed it as well. Their pedicure tub have ozne system that kills all bacteria and fungus. You can put your worries aside when you visit Skin Essence. They provide a very relaxing atomosphere with tasteful green tea!

Lina is friendly and more knowledgeable than most estheticians. The light therapy really does work, but it takes several sessions. I have difficult skin -- sensitive, acne prone, combination, easily broken capillaries. If you advise Lina of your skin's troubles, she will help you, but you need to be very clear. She will sell you additional services and some products, but most of them are good; I advise you to know what you want before you go and only buy what you want or need. If she sells you more than you thought you wanted, then that's on you and is utimately your decision. This happened to me, but I was happy she sold me because the results were good and now I'm clear on what works for me. Now I only ask for what I want and say 'no thanks' if I don't want other things. Overall, one of the best facials I've ever had -- and I've been to highly rated spas all over the U.S.

My first time in Skin Essence was 4 years ago. I was looking for a treatment to my severe acne scars. Lina?s broad knowledge on skin care and her very friendly spa environment impressed me. After about 6 treatments, my skin went back to smooth and glowing again. I was hooked to Skin Essence ever since.
More importantly, Lina helped me to establish my own skin care regime with the right products and professional treatments. I have been very happy with my skin since I met Lina. She is the best!

Lina Yang is by far the best facialist in Raleigh bar none. My skin is sensitive and prone to redness, but with Lina's treatments and products I now have a healthy glow. Even after two treatments the difference is visible, thanks to Lina's knowledge of skin and how to take care of it. Her recognition in China as being one of the best facialist's has certainly followed her to Raleigh. Her intuitive nature about people and their skin care needs, hits the mark every time!! I've been having skin problems ever since I was a teen-ager. I pretty much tiried about everything over the counter, I even consulted a demotologist. In my adult years I've tried pro-active along with other skin care products. Still nothing seem to be working for me. I'm now 34 years old. After seeing my girlfriend for the first time in a year, I asked what was she using on her skin, it looked so radiant. She gave me Lina telephone number. I made a appointment with Lina and immediately begin taking treatments. After having only 4 treatments and using the products faithly I notice a big improvement in my skin. The only regret I have is that it took me so long to find Lina. I highly recommend her to anyone whot want better skin.

I have been going to Lina Yang, owner of SKin Essence f- A Day Spa -- for over 5 years. I am absolutely delighted with the results. Lina is extremely knowledgeable about skin care, skin care products, and she keeps up with the latest medical and health research regarding skin care. She knows the best treatments for all skin types, and for me, has taken years off of my appearance. I am so happy with the results of her treatments, including the microdermabrasion, the oxygen treatments, the laser pulsing light, etc., and the treatments that promote collagen replacement. The treatments erase fine lines and wrinkles. I love the use of natural vitamin and nutrients that Lina uses for facials and the products that she recommends. First of all, Lina is a great lady. She's very sweet and personable and interesting to talk to. I also trust her with my skin care completely. I'm almost through with an intial series of photofacials and microderm, and my skin is looking really wonderful. She has also completely reshaped and tinted my eyebrows over the last six weeks--they look amazing!! Eyelash tinting is amazing too. She'll soon be opening a larger spa and I'm really looking forward to it. Though I'm not rich and my BF would probably strangle me for spending so much on my face, I think Lina's approach to prevention is a luxury in which I'm willing to invest. I really think you can stave off aging with some of her treatments, particularly if you start early. Thanks Lina--please keep me looking 30-35 forever!

I recently went to Skin Essence for the first time and it was much different than I expected after reading all the glowing reviews and seeing the incredibly high rating on CitySearch (which is why I chose it). Don't get me wrong...I had an excellent facial, probably one of the best I've ever received. I found the owner to be very friendly and experienced. What I found disappointing was that this "spa" is essentially located in the owner's basement. I had to do a double-take when I pulled up.

While some people don't mind going to "med spas" where the ambiance is lacking, this is not one of the qualities I look for in a spa. I like to go somewhere that has soothing decor, a lounge-like atmosphere, a nice locker room, and a modern facility where I can relax and destress. Somewhere I can read a magazine, have some ice-water or tea, and feel like I'm getting my money's worth. While Skin Essence had all the proper equipment and products for spa treatments, there was no "spa feel" and the experience wasn't relaxing. Also, one of the previous reviewers mentioned that the prices are reasonable. I didn't find this to be the case as the cost of my treatment wasn't any less than I've had elsewhere. In addition, there were several instances during the treatment when I was told to "hold this (machine) over your face and I'll be right back." I was left alone a few times without a clue what I was doing while the owner answered the phone or disappeared for several minutes. I found this frustrating and certainly not relaxing. I was (jokingly) wondering in my mind f I'd get a discount for assisting with my own facial.

I understand that the owner is opening a facility for her business that is not in her home shortly and because the facial was great, I'll definitely stop by to see what its like and I might even consider going back if can have a better overall "spa experience" next time. In conclusion, this isn't a negative review, but its not what I was looking for.

I was referred to Skin Essence by a friend (I might add that she is over 40 and has amazing skin) over 6 months ago and waited several months before finally making an appointment.

I am a huge skeptic of anyone or any product that claims to be able to reduce wrinkles, reverse aging, etc. It all sounds like a bunch of hocas-pocas to me. After doing some research of my own, I decided to try it out. I have been to her 4 times and am AMAZED. My skin was pretty good to begin with but I have seen a definite improvement in texture and reduced white- and black-heads. Even better is that I trust this lady completely. She has proven to be honest, professional, caring, friendly, and knowledgable. She is not what I have found at other spas: young ladies with little training who try to push products that I don't need and that they know little about. I know I can trust that if she recommends something to me, it is because she feels it is best for my skin and my well-being. This sounds like strong language, but you will see. She is the real deal!

Lina did for me in 3 months what dermatologists could not do for me in 20 years. I suffer from adult acne. After seeing Lina I now have clear skin. I never thought I could say that. Lina does a great job. She's a one-woman show, and I'm not sure how she keeps up her lovely personality with so many workdays and clients. Lina cares about her clients - she even set two of them up. And she remembers my history from one session to the next - not only facial history, but my life stuff. She also cares about the skin's condition and remembers its condition from one visit to the next. Sometimes she'll throw in an extra service to try it out and see whether it makes a difference. Fabulous facials - she knows the right balance, and my skin does look great after a session of microderm/Revitalight. I don't think I've had such a thorough pore cleansing, and the included peels really help. It can become somewhat costly, but for Lina's expertise and included items, it's a great value.

I initially went to Lina on the word of a friend. I had had facials before in several salons and was fairly satisfied but wanted to try someone who came recommended. What a great decision! Clean looking skin was my goal but I have gotten much more than that. I have been impressed by Lina's knowledge of skin and I have a lot of confidence in her diagnostic skill. Hers is not a salon where each client gets the same services, but where one knows that she is recommending exactly what is best for each individual. She had a lot of training in China where lovely skin is even more important than in this country, and she continues to update her knowledge through seminars and workshops. I look forward to my visits. I have even gotten used to the daily home routine using her products and my skin looks amazingly better - smooth, glowing with health and definitely younger. I've also crossed paths while there with a couple of women with adult acne who were delighted with their results. She is the best!

Skin Essence day spa is the best spa I have found in Raleigh, and the surrounding area. Lina will customize any treatment for her customers, providing treatments that will solve each customers unique needs. I have had an amazing turnover with my skin. I am 19 years old, and went off to college for my freshman year. I had developed a pretty bad case of acne on my forehead and chin, and tried everything to get rid of it. I got facials at other spas, spent A LOT of money on products and nothing was working. My mother heard about this spa and we both decided to go. As soon as she saw me, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. She moved around her schedule just to be able to fit me in before I left for my sophmore year. After two or three treatments, and a already noticable difference, she sent me off with a skin care routine with her products. I am back now for thanksgiving leave, and I can't describe to you how much better my skin has gotten. I have not had a breakout in at least a month, and my skin is smoother and just better looking all around. I absolutely love coming here, for the amazing treatments and over all good atmosphere. Other treatments I have tried are the eyebrow waxing and eyelash tinting. I definitely recommend the eyelash tinting. Just imagine not having to put mascara on in the morning, thats what the final product looks like! She's also very good at the eyebrow waxing. I have also done the ioncleanse, which cleanses the body of toxic metals and other toxins through the ion bath that you dip your feet into. In conclusion I would definitely recommend this spa to anyone, but especially people struggling with acne. She did an amazing job with my skin, and I will continue coming for a long time.

I would highly recommend Lina to anyone and everyone. Of all the facials I have had she is by far the best. The sevice is excellent and Lina really knows what she is doing. There will always be a person here and there that cannot find one thing they are pleased with and want to complain. I have been serviced by Lina for several years now. I am a smart and professional career woman on the go and smart enough to know if I am being taken advantage of...I NEVER HAVE BEEN WITH LINA!
Great skin care comes from the services Lina provides and most importantly in my opinion, the on-going maintenance of great skin care at home...which Lina suggests and provides!

She is really good about cleaning her face and eating the right foods and drinking alot of water, but her face was always breaking out ,nothing was working. After 4 treatments her face is the best it has ever been! She is so happy. My other two daughters are also getting treatments. Lina has been great. I highly recommend her

I just wanted to comment on the negative comment made by a couple of Lina's former clients. I have been coming to Lina since 2005. When I first started going to Line for my acne, I was skeptical and did know what to expect. She told me that I would have to come back every week for treatments, which equaled up to $150 to $200 dollars each. I was like hell I'm not rich and that was to much for me, but I continued to come because I wanted to have faith in her abilities because everything else had failed. I had to do the weekly treatments for almost 6 to 8 months. That was a lot of money. In Jan or Feb 2006, my face had cleared up completely and now I do monthly treatments. I have not had a major breakout since then. My face looks better than ever. (The before and after pictures are on her web site) I used only the medication that she gave me, I only let Lina do my facials, and I did not change my diet or exercise patterns. I paid a lot of money, but you get what you pay for. Now, I trust and have faith in her abilities because she showed me. I love you Lina. Thank you.

I loved Skin Essence at first. After several visits and hundreds of $$$'s later, I started to get this nagging feeling that something was not right. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. I poured lots of money into the skin care but all I received in return was a non-relaxing experience. Lina left me in the room during treatments on EVERY visit to answer the phone and attend to OTHER clients. She did the "can u hold this machine on your face" thing as well. Once I showed up for an appointment and she no idea she booked it. Also she called my home at 8am on a Sat claiming I had an appointment. I rushed out of bed. Got very stressed thinking I miss an appointment, only to check my calendar and see I had no appointment. My last straw was when she asked me how I manage my money. I felt uncomfortable. She claimed to be in the business to help people, but her service did not show that.

All my life I have struggled with trying to keep my skin looking healthy and clearing my acne. Some things would work briefly, but never lasted. That is until I met Lina who has tranformed my skin into looking healthier, vibrant and all around as a nicer glow since I started my microdermabrasion treatments. My acne has cleared and the dark spots from scars are starting to fade. Lina makes you feel right at home and lets you know how much she cares not only about your skin, but your health. I promise you, you will walk out of your first appointment feeling like a new person. Thanks Lina!

After trying many other aestheticians I finally found Lina who actually knows what she is doing. She has worked wonders on my skin and helped me get rid of my acne. The microdermabrasion and revitaligt treatments are great and I am finally happy with my skin. I would recommend her to anyone who wants beautiful skin. She is very knowledgeable and she really cares about her clients and how they feel!!

My doctor recommented me to see Lina at Skin Essence. I was impressed by her professional skills and her deep knowledge and understanding about skin care. For my first visit with lina, I felt connection and trust.
After first microdermabrasion treatment, my skin felt very smooth, fresh, and rejuvenated. my skin had a youthful appearance that lasted for a long time. my large clogged pores were no longer visible and pigmentation reduced greatly.
Not only does Lina give great treatments, she also taught me how to care for my skin and cleansing technics.
Skin essence has the best treatments, I've never been so happy with my skin.

4/29/07 After two years I want to update my review and let you know that Lina is still the best in the business, hands down. I always joke with my friends that if I ever win the lottery the first thing I would do is set up a weekly visit to Lina for the rest of my life. I leave her spa and feel renewed and relaxed. It is the best thing that you can do for yourself as a busy mom and working woman, you will be hooked too.

Saying that Lina is wonderful is an understatement. I have never found anyone who really makes you feel that you are her only client and that she truly cares about what she is doing and your results. I have been nothing short of amazed at the results (in just two treatments) from the microderm and revitalight. Even co-workers on commenting on how refreshed I look and that was after only one treatment. I am completely hooked on Lina and her services and would not go anywhere else.
