I cannot believe what Dianne just wrote about Southeast Dance Shop! I am a line dancer and have purchased my shoes and several pieces of clothing here. I was so pleased with the service I received that I recommended to my family and friends to shop here as well. There is absolutely no way that the owner or staff of Southeast Dance Shop is racist. To everyone that read the previous review about them being racist, it is simply not true and you should not believe it! I wouldn't shop anywhere else!
I would not shop anywhere else. I am a bit clueless as to what my girls need for dance, but the ladies at Southeast Dance Shop always take care of them. I trust them and they always get my girls exactly what they need. I have even had to shop without my girls with just a list, and they still get me everything I need. I recommend everyone shop here!

I am absolutely shocked to see these negative reviews! I have been shopping here for years and have only received the best service. The owner and her daughter go out of their way to help me everytime I come in. When shopping for leotards, they have even offered to measure me to eliminate unnecessary time spent trying on different sizes. They know their products inside and out and I wouldn't shop anywhere else. When I am in a hurry and need new shoes, they look up my sales history and just go grab the same ones I purchased the last time. When I want to try on new shoes, they take their time and let me decide which one I like best. I wouldn't recommend anyone shop anywhere else!

wow - remarkable that this business has been able to survive this economy given the service provided. The lady that works here clearly too angry to deal with and there are so many other great stores in the area to help our little ones - Cary has quite a few as does N. Raleigh closer to the triangle town center.
I told my daughters that we'll return during halloween for a good scare!

The owner is so incredibly rude. I walked out without purchasing anything because she had such an offensive demeanor. Truly needs a class on customer service.

I've been to this dance shop for several years mostly because the dance studio my daughter attends has discount cards for them. But every time I've been there, the owner and staff have been very rude. Also, almost all of the items they have "helped" me select end up running too small even though they said that it should "fit snug" and "it will stretch". But it didn't and we removed the tags, etc and can't return them. This has happened on multiple occasions.
It's not worth the 10% discount that we get from the dance studio - they should not promote this store because every time, I tell them that we are from that studio, the owner doesn't even seem to care or appreciate the referrals.
I'm trying some other dance shops because the service at Southeast Dance shop is poor and they are generally rude to their customers.

My daughter joined a summer Hip Hop class with the intention of continuing the class for the upcoming year. We purchased a pair of Hip Hop shoes from Southeast Dance Shop three weeks ago however she did not wear them for the first three (free classes). Unfortunately there were changes at the studio and they will no longer be using this type of shoe. I kept my receipt and attempted to return the shoes (within 30 days and the shoes were never worn as per the instructions on the receipt) today and was told by the very rude owner (not a manager but the OWNER) that unless I had the BOX, I could not return the shoes for an exchange. I did not keep the box because I never intended to return the shoes. We tried them on at the store, they fit and therefore we bought them. The store does have return policies (which I complied with) however it does not state anywhere in the store, or on the receipt that you need to return the BOX with the shoes.
When I spoke with the owner, she stated to me that I needed to use 'common sense' when returning items. I'm not sure how many people hold onto boxes, plastic wrapers and all the silly packaging items that are included with purchases these days.
I told the owner that I complied with all the items listed on the receipt she gave me at the time of purchase and at no time did anyone tell me or is it written and communicated to customers that boxes and bags etc need to be included if you return shoes. The owner was not interested in keeping me as a customer, as I reminded her that word of mouth is the best (or worst) advertisement - she did not care and encouraged me to 'go ahead and slam her business'. Let me just say, slamming her business is not my intention, however being a mom of a local dancer who dances for two studios, I will never do business with these folks again! Independent business owners should think twice about deliberately loosing customers - they may find themselves on the Unemployment Line also........

I totally agree with Adrian. I was asked if I needed help, and as soon as I expressed that I'd like to try on something, but I might not be able to buy anything today, the service went out the window. There were a total of two customers in the store at the time, and I waited my turn after asking to be helped, but was still ignored.
I called back and talked with the older lady, and expressed my disappointment, and was actually called a "bad apple."
Now that's customer service - NOT!!!

The owner was disrespectful and set a poor example to her staff in customer service. I drove 30 miles and was offended by the owner??s demeanor to the point that I left the shop before making my intended pointe shoe purchase.
When I asked if I could see their shoe selection, the owner said the shoes were in different areas around the store and were not on display. She said: "This isn't Walmart. You're not allowed to try the shoes on yourself."
There is a mandatory $25.00 fee for a mandatory pointe shoe fitting. The owner of the store did not disclose this information before she began the fitting process, but she did tell me that if more customers came into the store that I would be asked to leave and return another day. I was fortunate to have noticed an 8.5 x 11 printed sign posted behind shoe boxes, that explained the fee.
I do not know if I would then be charged an additional $25 upon my return. The fee is deducted from the cost of your purchase, but if they are not able to fit you, the cost will NOT be waived. I was concerned that I may be charged up to $50 and drive a total of 120 miles only to be told that I wasn??t in Walmart and learn that they didn??t have my size.
I have been dancing for 26 years and teaching dance for 5 years.

I have a young daughter in dance and though I was a long time dancer myself, I've long since forgotten how to fit ballet shoes. The staff is very helpful and friendly and they know the exact requirements of every studio in the area.
