I have been going to Jay Andrews since they opened in Apex. I have fine hair and had problems finding stylists that know how to work with it. With suggestions from Connie, I have been able to try not only different colors but also lengths and styles while keeping body in my fine hair, which is no small feat. I appreciate her honest opinions and know that my hair will look wonderful when she is done with it. I love getting compliments on the color and styles after a visit to Jay Andrews!

I can't say enough about Jay Andrews. I have been a client for just over a year. The beautiful decor, excellent service and luxurious perks make my visits a pleasure. I have seen a few different stylists and they have all been extremely talented, professional and honest. My hair can be a bit unmanageable sometimes, so I do appreciate their suggestions and honest input. My expectations are always realistic and they are always exceeded.

Bravo Jay Andrews for a first class salon experience and talent that surpasses all other salons/spas in the area! You know how to pamper and please your clientelle!

I was very disappointed in the color, cut, attitude, and the price that was higher than quoted. My first experience with a cut only with a friendly stylist was great, but because of the problems I experienced this time & interaction with management/owner I will never go back.

To clarify I have no industry connections nor personal knowledge or association with the staff, and these comments are driven by nothing other than a truly unsatisfying customer experience. Also, this reflects not at all on the spa staff, with whom I had no service exp.

However, my first and last experience with this vaunted salon was dismal at best, and downright rude staff did not encourage follow.up contact (nor was I interested in allowing an opportunity for further damage). Stated concerns during service were responded to as being told to basically hush and wait until the end. Really? I may not be The professional, but do know my hair challenges and have had my hair styled by professionals monthly for a number of years, and recognize when there is cause for concern. The technique of ripping a brush through tangled hair (a little outdoor fun preceding) is amateurish (there are products to minimize the damage, detangle, although none used), resulting in my losing a 'barbie-doll head' measure of hair, and the tools and technique used burned my hair shaft, requiring remedial visits to another salon in order to repair. In greeting, after being completely ignored at the desk for a time while three staff members talked amongst themselves, followed by my stylist who had approached the desk, glanced without expression, whispered to the desk clerk, another dismissive glance, disappeared for a few seconds, then reappeared with a fake smile and hand extended, was an auspicious beginning from which they never fully recovered. At close, the verbally quoted rate mysteriously increased at the desk with no explanation (and how gauche to need to inquire, rather than the stylist explaining in advance, for a sum nearly double, and for poor service at that); for the staff to solicit tips by conspicuously asking during payment if one should be added is truly disgusting; finally, the actual service by the stylist is the worst I have ever experienced.

This salon staff needs to learn manners, rude to unknowns, technique lacking.

Kelley at Jay Andrews is the best stylist I have had in years! Not only does my hair look good when I leave, I am actually able to reproduce it at home. The service is 4 star with a scalp massage and a hand massage while you are washed. I love it!

Jay Andrews Salon & Spa is a beautiful and relaxing environment to take your troubles away! I have been a client of this Aveda salon/spa since the doors first opened over two years ago and love the friendly staff. I have received many of their services, such as massage, facials, mani/pedi, hair cut/highlight, styling, waxing, etc... I have never had a bad experience at JASS! They are very professional and offer an amazing selection of services and Aveda products for your hair and skin. They also offer complimentary coffee, water or wine while you wait or during your services. The price is right and you leave feeling like a new person!I highly recommend Jay Andrews Salon & Spa to any woman or man looking for quality service and relaxation.

The appointment start time was late & the stylist smelled of cigarettes. I paid for highlights & a haircut. The stylist was unsure of her skills & asked for advice from the owner. The owner & stylist discussed my hair in an insulting tone as if I wasn't there. It was decided that the highlight solution should stay on there longer because I had put box color on my hair (gasp). My hair was cut almost in a mullet because apparently I had a 'shelf' (gasp again). I don't know what a shelf is, but it is much better than what I was left with.
When the toner was applied, the stylist went outside & was gone for a while. I dozed off, but I think she forgot about me. She came back smelling of cigarettes again. My hair was still wet & hadn't been styled. The receptionist came up & whispered to the stylist that her next appt was here. The stylist went from snail slow to super fast. She only halfway dried my hair. She did not flatiron the hair closest to my scalp (probably b/c it was still wet). The toner was left on so long it didn't even look like I had highlights! I complained. The stylist said "I thought I gave you what you wanted, I did exactly as you asked" I said I wanted highlights & wanted them 'noticeable' and I have a flat color without any kind of dimension. She discussed with the owner & stated I should give it 4 weeks for the toner to wash out and that was the best they could do with the box color I had previously applied. Oh wait, what happened to the comment that she thought she did exactly what I wanted? Also, I thought that is why they had to leave the highlight solution on longer to compensate for that.
I had a previous pleasant experience with a different stylist. Even still, I will never go back. Also of note, my final bill of $210 was $55 more than the original quote.

I have lived in Cary for 5 years. I have visited many triangle area upscale salons/spas, but just have never found the "perfect" fit. After a neighbor recommended Jay Andrews, I though I would give it a try as I have been looking for someone to give me a new look - that hairstyle that people would stop me and ask "Who does your hair?" I have now been a client there for nearly a year. Both of my sisters and their families are now clients of Jay Andrews, as well.

All of their sylists are amazing, extensively educated and honest. Karan and Gabriella have both done my hair and they are both fabulous! Their reception staff is professional and very accommodating. Nicole is the aesthetician and is one of a kind - perfect brows every time - her chemical peels are addicting and have no down time! Typically while my color is on, Annette, the manicurist, gets me in for a pedicure or manicure- so I don't feel like I am wasting time while my color processes.

The best part about Jay Andrews is that I feel so comfortable when I go in. It's not a huge "mega-spa" where I feel like a number - they know me and I always feel welcome and appreciated.

Pros: Amazing stylists, Best brows in town, Love the Express Pedi

Cons: Not open on Sundays

I was a first time customer of Jay Andrews, but will definitely be going back! I had super long hair but wanted a change. They scheduled a consultation with me to talk about what I was thinking about. After we agreed, she cut my hair and colored it. I love that the color they use is plant based and is less damaging to my hair. My hair cut turned out great, and I LOVE the color! It looks like how a child's hair looks with all the natural highlights!!
While I was waiting to have my color washed out, I went back to have a quick, but wonderful pedicure! SO relaxing! I never wanted to leave!
Their prices were great, and the girls there make you feel like family... Everyone should treat themselves to a service at Jay Andrews!!

I am always amazed at the friendly staff at Jay Andrews. I have been a client here since they opened three years ago. I feel very relaxed and pampered whenever I am there. When I have a question about the price of any of my services the front desk or my stylist always informs me of the price change. I would definitely recommend Jay Andrews to my friends and family and I can't wait till my next appointment.

To clarify I have no industry connections nor personal knowledge or association with the staff, and these comments are driven by nothing other than a truly unsatisfying customer experience. Also, this reflects not at all on the spa staff, with whom I had no service.

However, my first and last experience with this vaunted salon was dismal at best, and downright rude staff did not encourage follow.up contact (nor was I interested in allowing an opportunity for further damage). As previously mentioned, I too experienced the verbally quoted rate mysteriously increasing at the desk with no explanation (and how gauche to need to inquire, rather than the stylist explaining in advance, for a sum nearly double, and for poor service at that); for the staff to solicit tips by conspicuously asking during payment if one should be added is truly disgusting; finally, the actual service by the stylist is the worst I have ever experienced. Stated concerns during service were responded to as being told to basically hush and wait until the end. Really? I may not be The professional, but do know my hair challenges and have had my hair styled by professionals monthly for a number of years, and recognize when there is cause for concern-don't casually dismiss the new client. As the previous review mentions, I too was completely ignored at the desk for a time while three staff members 'talked amongst themselves' in anxious tones, followed by my stylist who had approached the desk, glanced at without expression, whispered to the desk clerk, again a dismissive glance toward the customer, disappeared for a few seconds, then reappeared on the other side with a fake smile and hand extended, was an auspicious beginning from which they never fully recovered. Stilted and insincere follows.

I have been to numerous upscale salons in my lifetime, and this may appear to be that on the surface in this small community, but lacks substance, skill, and the staff an authentic customer service mentality. They may cater to their regulars, but certainly not others. Expect to feel measured and inspected when you enter (a la pretty woman.. big mistake). So come to impress, or you may pay dearly for the 'privilege' of gracing their salon. Truly a disgusting, costly experience.

I am a busy working mom who walked into Jay Andrews Salon and Spa to because I was interested in grabbing a menu of their services. There were two girls at the counter. Upon entering, one girl looked right at me and then looked away and started talking to the girl standing next to her. I stood at the counter and after they finished talking, they just looked at me. I said, "I would like a menu of your services." She stated that they don't have one, but "I guess I could print you one." While I was waiting, another lady approached the counter and looked like a manager. I assumed she was because she was giving the other girls some instructions. She never greeted me.

I don't have time for places where the employees have their noses up in the air and don't give great customer service to everyone that walks in the door. I was offended, and will not be making an appointment for any service. Boy, first impressions really are important.

The first time i went i had a descent cut, but i only let her do a small trim. SHe told me half way into my color "im making you more of a blonde" - without me asking to be. I walked out of there with a lot of blonde around my face only, in the middle of winter. I neded a toner sooo bad!

then i went back to a different girl. i told this one not to cut my top layer shorter than 1.5 inches below my chin. I ended up with my top layer by my cheeks and uneven! the color want noticeable bad until the next day, when i styled it i noticed how i still had major roots and spotty color underneath.

Please find another salon. they aren't good AT ALL!!!!

I received a full highlight and cut and did not receive what I asked for. Then, upon asking them to fix it, they charged me to do so!! In my original visit I even brought in pictures of the coloring that I wanted. You don't get much clearer than that! Well the result was not AT ALL what I asked for. The next day I called them and they fit me into the schedule to have it fixed, but upon my arrival they told me that they would have to charge me for a new set of highlights! I argued with them, but was desperate to have it fixed, so I succumbed. I was feeling really uneasy about having to pay additionally for this, and after talking to a few friends, they all told me that was unacceptable and I should seek retribution. So I called and spoke to the manager and at first they were unwilling to do anything! I argued some more and they offered me a measly 10% off of my next service. I cannot believe that in this economy they would operate in this fashion. I was an unhappy customer and I shouldn't have had to work this hard for good customer service.

After several "nightmare" hair highlighting jobs in the Raleigh-Durham area, I finally was able to find this salon who does it RIGHT. My stylist here pulls the hair so tight to get the highlight close to the root so the final result has been GREAT each time I've gone here. They are really good about listening to what you want and making sure you are happy with your color. I always leave here feeling so relaxed since they give you a hand massage during the final shampoo. I have been so happy with this place, and I'm glad I finally found a stylist I can trust in the area after several bad experiences.
