5 Stars: Great Chocolate, holiday baskets and wonderful customer service (by Andringa)

I have been buying chocolate from Kilwin's for more than 6 months. The selection is fantastic with the chocolates being my favorite. if you like chocolate, ice cream, twizzle sticks, fudge, gumballs, swedish fish - you are in the right place. The selections are too vast to list here- but a visit to the store, located in the Ballantyne area just off I-485 and Johnson Rd, is well worth it. Ask for a sample of Rocky Road or Peanut Butter fudge. Peruse the holiday and gift baskets. Just go, because this is a great place to quench a sweet tooth.

5 Stars: Ice Cream was incredible! (by jbird12321)

I stopped in this afternoon to beat the heat and have a scoop of ice cream. Best decision I made all day. Not only was the location nice and air conditioned but the staff was very helpful and the Blueberry Waffle Cone Ice Cream they recommended was INCREDIBLE! So good that I will be back later in the week to have them use the same ice cream to make me a milkshake (suggestion from the staff). I also sampled some of the Peanut Butter fudge and it melted in my mouth. Do yourself a favor if you are in the Ballantyne area and stop by Ballantyne Village to check this place out.

5 Stars: Every product I have had from Kilwin's has been excellent (by khterry)

I must disagree with the other reviewer. Kilwin's fudge is the best I have had from any commercial outlet. I like it even better than my Aunt Martha's homemade fudge and she's a major chocoholic so she really knows how to make chocolate deserts. The thing that I really like about Kilwin's fudge is that it is properly sweetened. Most fudge is so over sweet that it makes your mouth tingle but Kilwin's sweetened perfectly....sweet enough to taste great but not overpowering.

Their Maple Walnut fudge is really good too. Sweet and smooth and not at all grainy like some Maple fudge (graininess is caused sugar recrystalizing).

Right now I'm enjoying some of their Pecan Brittle.

2 Stars: Unfortunately this is the only place around with homemade treats (by shalko)

I grew up in youngstown and homemade chocolate and pastries are the norm there...along with other great ethnic food...but I won't go there. Anyways, I was out last night and heard some girl raving about Kilwins....I only hoped she wasn't talking to anyone who knew what great chocolate tasted like. I've gone in a few times because unfortunately it's the only place I know of in South Charlotte that has fresh chocolate. I got the fudge and I was SOOOO disappointed. The fudge is just mediocre, if you've had fudge before and you KNOW what good fudge tastes like, you will be highly disappointed. My mother-in-law...who's 100% Italian makes amazing desserts, she tasted the fudge along with me and refused to get any, for lack of respect I kept the "I told you so" from rolling off my tongue. The chocolate's ok...I usually get chocolate covered pretzel sticks....and it's a chocolate covered pretzel stick. The atmosphere is cute and it's fun to be in there and look around, but when it comes to actually eating the stuff, I'm just not impressed. I feel awful for the people who don't know what the "good stuff" is! If I only had money to open my own shop!!

5 Stars: They could charge admission just for the aroma... (by Julie G.)

that greets you when you walk in the door. We used to go to some of the other ice cream shops around, but then we discovered Kilwin's opened a store in Ballantyne. Now its the only place we go for ice cream. We've been going to the store in Blowing Rock for years and we're big fans. My husband's personal favorite is the Cappucino Chocolate Chip and I think the Toasted Coconut is heavenly. My son struggles deciding between the Superman and Blue Moon and my daughter sometimes get a Carmel Apple when she doesn't get the Peppermint ice cream. We're so happy you're finally in Charlotte Kilwin's! Highly recommended!

4 Stars: Excellent chocolates hand made in the store (by Ken T.)

The candies here are very good. I would agree with the other reviewer that they are pricey in general.

The homeade fudge is the exception. It was appropriately priced and the Pecan & Turtle Fudges are exceptional. They are the perfect level of sweetness (unlike others who often make them oversweet).

4 Stars: YUMMY!! (by Niabi W.)

Great selection of amazing chocolates made in-house! A little pricey, but you definitely pay for quality in this case. The ice cream is excellect too. And the kids love to watch the fudge and candy being made in the store. Definitely recommended!!
