Ive been to Varji & Varji 3 times. On my first trip, I received one of the best haircuts Ive ever gotten. On my second trip, with the same stylist, I received one of the worst. I decided to give them a shot a third time, with a different stylist, and the cut was below average. Overall, the quality does not justify the $45 price.

Max Varji runs a tight ship and has a successful salon because of it. It's true, you get what you pay for and you certainly will pay! Gorgeous salon and very professional. In 11 years, going to Max, I have never waited and am in and out looking FAB! Max makes it his business to make sure you are happy. He will do everything it takes to keep you coming back. If you ever have a problem at Varji and Varji, please tell him. He takes great pride in his salon and staff and will never disappoint!

Went to Varji and Varji to get a trim. Was thinking that because it is an Aveda salon, my scalp would get a little massage while the stylist was washing it. Instead I received a very quick and non-relaxing wash (they were not busy at all during my appointment time). The stylist and I chatted about how I wanted the bottom of my hair cut. I said I prefer a V shape - not an inverted V and most definitely NOT straight across. When the stylist finished my hair, she did not give me a mirror to look at the backside. I didn't say anything because I noticed she had flipped the ends outward so I wouldn't be able to look at the cut anyway. Well, later that night, when I washed and dried my hair, not only did I discover that my ends were blunt cut, but the whole bottom was cut straight across. While I didn't mention anything about not blunt cutting the ends, I was very specific about not cutting the bottom straight across. I feel like what I wanted to have done was a rather simple request and the stylist said cutting the bottom that way would not be a problem. Unfortunately, that is not what she did.

I've been to Aletha several times and would highly recommend her ! She has cut and colored my hair and I have been so pleased !! Aletha does a great job of listening to what I want while also offering her opinions about what she thinks will work best with my hair type.
I've been coloring my hair for over 10 years now and I definitely got the best color of my life when I started having Aletha color it !! She's also great fun to talk to while getting my hair done !!!

I had been spoiled when I moved here from Washington DC. My best friend there is a top stylist that is booked months in advance with all the "Who's Who" of the DC metro area. So for the first few years I would fly back on E-savers for her to do my hair, but that became too inconvenient. I started searching and after TONS of trial and error, I finally found Jason at Varji.

Both the south park location and the Morehead street location are nice. Jason mainly works at Morehead which works best for my Elizabeth location. However I have zero hesitation to travel to South Park when he is there. He takes the time to listen and his cut is fantastic. After my second visit he had my color down perfectly (he had to fix a mess I brought him the first visit). He really funny and kind, and makes you feel right at home. I have had several strangers stop me and ask me about my cut since I started seeing him in November. After my very first visit, my mother took one look at the results and booked her own appointment for the following week. If you want a good laugh and a killer style, go see Jason!

Most Aveeda salons I've been to have a more soothing and "zen" like atmosphere, but aside from that it was a good experience. The front desk receptionist was very helpful, and my hairstylist, Ashley Morgan, did a great job of interpreting a photo of the style I wanted. I would recommend Ashley Morgan particularly to those who have thick, wavy hair. She is very pleasant, and really works hard to make sure her client likes their style.

Three weeks ago I had an appointment at South Park to get my hair cut. I already had hair that I (and everyone else) loved, but it was long and not completely professional for my very corporate job. I intended to get a few inches cut off.

I'm new to the Charlotte area so I did my research on area salons. I chose Varji and Varji because they are an Aveda concept salon and I thought their stylists would be top notch.

I was wrong. Three weeks later I am still regretting the decision. The stylist, without asking me and without ever getting to know my hair, thinned my hair! She started in the back so I didn't realize what she was doing until it was too late.

I have a lot of hair but it is very fine and every stylist I have ever been to acknowledges that thinning my hair is the worst idea. Now, not only is my hair limp and body less (despite using product and spending significant time styling), it is also in drecreasingly poor health because of the poor razor job she did when thinning my hair. I never have split ends and my stylists always rave about the amazing condition of my hair. Now I have split ends.

I went back to my stylist in my old town over the holiday weekend and she said the best thing to do was let it grow out. Considering she razored up to six inches of my hair, this will take months.

Obviously I am angry. I have waited three weeks to cool down and I am still upset. Each day is a reminder of the huge mistake I made to put my trust (and hair) into the hands of a stylist at Varji & Varji.

In the future, as any good stylist would know, Varji & Varji stylists should 1) get to know a client's hair (through at least a couple of visits) before making drastic changes and 2) NEVER thin someone's hair without first asking. Clients know their hair. Stylists should respect that and get good information from their clients.

I was so shocked that I actually enjoyed my apt with Yolonda!! She made me feel so comftorable! We had alot of small talk about kids, summer plans and before I knew it she was DONE!! It took only 20 minutes for a brazillian wax! I will certainly be going back!!

I recently had a nail service booked for Homa. She attempted to give me a french manicure. First, upon sitting down in the chair, she didn't ask how I wanted my nails shaped. Then, she tried to put white tips on my nails - it was the worst I have ever had. She did a poor job of shaping the white tip and it was very clumpy. I asked if she was going to 'clean up' the white and she replied with a 'yes'. It looked awful. I actually told her I didn't care for her job and asked her to take the polish off. Ann, another nail tech, finished my nails and they look great. After my services were completed, I asked to speak to the manager. She pretty much was unapologetic and actually defended Homa and said there was a communication error. I left the salon never wanting to return because of the level of service I received. I would not recommend Homa, nor will I suggest friends visit the salon. In addition, services are overpriced.

I got a not so good haircut and customer service was very flat. With people struggling to get by this salon charges too too much for what you get. I lived in NY and don't have a problem paying for a quality product. I would never recommend this salon for a BORING AND FLAT LOOKING HAIRCUT. I went elsewhere and suggest the same for anyone else.

Was a little nervous about trying a new stylist after relocating to Charlotte. Was referred to *Jade*, and am SO glad that I went! One of the things that I liked the most, was how welcomed I felt by her. She truly listened to what I wanted, and gave me some great feedback. Also, the salon itself is lovely and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

After moving to New York a year ago, I looked forward to my appointment with Mia at Charlotte. I have been her client for a few years and I could not miss an opportunity to see her again when I was in town for a few days. She is the best hairdresser I have ever had. I will be following her for the rest of her life regardless of
her place of work :) This time I decided to go crazy and try a really short "pob" like Victoria Backham, but she convinced me to leave more hair. It looks great and thanks to Mia's tips I can actually style it myself. She also did beautiful highlights and lowlights, so now I can grow back my natural color as a base without seeing a line at the root level. Mia is my queen of hair color. In my opinion,she is a gifted artist when it comes to highlights. Trust her instincts; you will not be disappointed.

The salon was really nice and so was everyone who worked there, but the end result were terrible. I went in for a simple full highlight and came out looking the same way I went in. My highlights still had 1-1/2 inch of root showing and they didn't use a toner to help fade my roots in. Pointless visit.

I just moved here from Florida, and had been going to the same stylist for years. A young lady named Andee did my highlights and cut for me and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this salon to anyone who is looking.
Its a tad pricey but well worth it.

Since my first visit just over a week ago, my hair color and cut are the best I have ever had, and since my visit I?ve been asked many times who does my hair. Having a professional and gifted colorist is where you get the difference! Mia ? a stylist who done my hair at Varji & Varji - is a true artist with color! Something is different about her approach and she actually CARES about you and I've appreciated that she would let me know if what I am requesting will be damaging to my hair. Yet, she took time to make sure that my hair is exactly the way I want it! I love it and its healthy!!!
I learned that they book up fast, so make sure you call in advance for your appointments.

I visited this salon for a day of relaxation in the spa with no expectations. From my manicure and pedicure with Ann to my facial with Arianna I was blown away! These were the best services and most professional I have received in this city. I ended up having my hair colored with Rikki and cut with Tracy that were fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my day from the front desk to my blowdry. From a very picky woman, I would reccommend this beautiful salon and professional salon and spa to all!!

This was the second time that I went, thinking that the first time was just a fluke, but it wasnt, Both times I was double booked with someone else and she kept switching back and forth between the 2 of us. I was getting color done, so I wanted all of her attention on my hair so that I could relax in the situtation without her getting confused or forgetting about me. The color turned out just OK, and I will not be going back!

I'm an Atlanta transplant, and had a horrendous experience at 2 OTHER local "well-known" salons. I was resigned to the fact that I would have to drive back and forth to Georgia to get my color done. Finally, a co-worker recommended one last place, Varji & Varji. She was extremely happy with her hair so I gave it a try. I called and requested someone with lots of corrective color experience. The receptionist was extremely helpful. Amanda Benson, a fellow GA girl, did my highlites and cut. She fixed the mistakes that the other salons had made and gave me a beautiful cut. She didn't chop all my hair off, and she foiled my hair better than my stylist in Atlanta (sorry, girlie!). I would highly recommend Amanda and Varji & Varji in general. The staff is friendly and genuinely seem to like their jobs. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!!!

After moving from San Diego I have gone from one salon to another in Charlotte trying to find a stylist equivalent to what I use to have, and I finally found it! This salon is beautiful and very peaceful. All of the staff there was friendly and very helpful. I got a full highlight by Jade and she did a great job!

I love Varji And Varji. The place is hip and elegant, yet still comfortable and welcoming. I had a facial with Sandy. She was professional and skilled, and also warm and fun. I left feeling pampered, relaxed, and gorgeous. I will definitely be back. Plus, the location is wonderful. I went across the street to Earth Fare for lunch and browsed in the yoga wear and wine shops just down the block. I can't wait for my next facial from Sandy!

After several mediocre experiences at various Charlotte salons I discovered Varji & Varji! A beautiful location, very hip design. They offer all of the services you could possibly desire and the whole staff was on top of their game! I scheduled an appointment with Ashley. She is very knowledgable and without a doubt very interesting! I am very leary about change and after a consultation with her I was comfortable with everything she suggested, from a great new cut to fabulous color! I know i am in good hands with her and have found a new salon home. I will be back time and time again and will always recommend Ashley and Varji & Varji Salon!

First off i have to say.. WOW!! This is an amazing Salon and Spa! So beautiful!! Both locations!! I have been growning my hair out for about 3 years and finally decicded it was time to cut it! But was very scared because of past cut i have had at other salons! But my friend was raving about a Varji and Varji salon and spa and about 2 certain stylist.. Brandon and Jason! so i finally got the nerve to called to book an appointment! Let me just say that from the call for booking to minute i walked out was a wonderful experience! the receptionist (darcy) was very informative and very sweet and assured me that i would be very well taken of and made me feel very comfortable! once i got to the salon i was given a tour and informed all the services! my appointment was with Brandon for a cut and it was wonderful! he actually listened to what i was saying and cut it exactly the way i wanted it! Its perfect! He was very friendly and humorus and made me feel like i was part of the salon and the most important person there! The next week i went to the Morehead location to get my color with Jason and it was wonderful as well! This location was alot smaller and more intimate! Jason was so sweet! I have a very difficult color scheme as well and he nailed it perfectly!! And he made me feel like i was at home! His blowout was amazing as well! I highly recommend both Jason and Brandon or even anyone at Varji and Vaji!!! LOVE IT!

What a wonderful experience! and beautiful salon! After hearing a numerous co-working rave over Varji and Varji salon i decided to make an appointment with the owner Max Varji! And my color and cut came out beautiful! It was exactly what i was looking for! He was very nice and professional! As well as his assitants and staff! And they offer Threading there! The only place i have found in charlotte! And its at an affordable price! I cant wait till my next appointment!

Let me start by saying I went to Varji and Varji, incredibly leary, because of one horrid hair experience after another at various "top" salons in Charlotte. I have been driving to Raleigh (where I am from) to get my hair cut and colored for the four years I have lived in Charlotte because of this. I went to Max, the owner at Varji and Varji, on a recommendation, and it was the best color I have EVER received (I color my hair every few months). I talked to him about the general idea of what I was looking for and he gave me something even better... he picked the perfect shades of red to flatter my skin tone, with the dramatic flair I was looking for. I would recommend Max for anyone, especially if you allow your stylists a bit of artistic breathing room.

My first experience with Varji & Varji was exceptional. After another salon in town turned my hair a brassy shade of orange, I called Varji & Varji for help based upon the excellent reviews on this site. My colorist was April and she went above and beyond to ensure my hair returned to its original color. She was not only professional and fun, but she made my color look natural and 10 times better than the original! I have not had an opportunity to work with other stylists, but I highly recommend April!

I went to Varji and Varji based on great recommendations from others but was extremely disappointed. My initial haircut looked great when it was professionally styled but did not translate well to my wash-and-wear lifestyle, of which I made the stylist aware. The stylist completely changed the shape of my hair and, after a few days of feeling very self-conscious and uncomfortable, I called to have a correction done. The salon was very cooperative about scheduling a correction haircut and assured me that it would be quick. Unfortunately, the stylist (the same one I went to the first time, as this was recommended by the salon) started completely over, so it took over an hour and basically left me with a shorter version of her initial haircut. So, now I'm out $50 plus 3 hours of my life and still have a short, bad haircut. The only good thing was they didn't charge me for the correction haircut. But the salon is beautiful.

I'm amazed that this reputable spa/salon has a "no credit card tipping" policy. When checking out and paying by credit card, I was sent to either the bank around the corner or the grocery store across the street to withdraw cash in order to leave a tip. When I questioned the front desk girls, I was rudely told it was due to some tax reason. There is no mention of this on their website.

I'm a hair snob. Have had the best hairdressers in the world work on me, those who are flown around the world to do the hair of the most wealthy, including Queen Noor of Jordan, Ivana Trump etc. Max is their rival. His training and experience in the London fashion world has primed him to be a high step above others in the States. He is the best cutter, colourist and all-round artist. I have been horrified at the hair of celebrities - the obvious foil edges in the colour. Max knows how to make the colour natural, flattering and maintain hair quality and with the artist's eye that compliments the client's personality, look and taste. He is a true STAR. I love him. Thank you Max!!!

Last week was my first visit to the salon and it was a very pleasant experience. Like many other people,
I have been to my share of salons over the years and this one was overall the nicest. I am very pleased
with the color & cut. It is nice to have a place to go where you feel will give you an up-to-date look as well
as one that works for you & your personality. The staff was very friendly and I did not have to wait or feel rushed. I plan on becoming a regular. Job well done!!

This is definitely the best salon in Charlotte. I have lived here for over four years and have only been to the top-rated salons (i.e. Modern). Even the lower-level stylists are comparable to the senior-level stylists at other places. I am not sure if Dori is the same person as a girl named Dorian but Dorian is an excellent stylist and fairly new to the salon. My Mom went to her over the weekend and loved her. She is very personable and very experienced in doing hair. I will be going to her for my next appointment because the girl I went to this past weekend is moving to another city. I do not want anyone to mistake her for a bad sylist and damage her reputation because she is excellent! Even the ladies who do the manicures/pedicures will tell you that she is excellent. The girls are great, the salon is gorgeous and it is worth going to check out if you have never been there before. I do not see Max hiring anyone that is sub-par. If you like the trendy, stylish salons, then you will love this one.

Ok so I am a regular at Varji and Varji and I have seen DORI one time and that was enough for me to say " I will never see her again " she is snobby, gossips about co-workers and is very erogant! She is the newest stylist in there , however she has the worse people skills of them all! If you call for an app. and all you can get is her......JUST SAY NO!

I have been to so many places and have had so many cuts and products and I finally go to Varji Varji and meet with Doriane and she changed my life. My cut and style was excatly what I wanted and what I have always wanted. Doriane was honest and took her time with me answering all of my questions about hair. I wanted something simple and easy to style. SHE GAVE IT TO ME! By the time I left I was confronted by my my friends who then later that week went to see her and overjoyed with their results. Color, Cut, and Style made easy for me. I highly recommend her to anyone.

I'm not from Charlotte and I'm so happy i found this great place in South Park. I was looking for a miracle some one who could fix the disaster done the week before by another stylist i was devasted. Thank's god i met Dorianne she's french and sweet and she has a lot of experience. And the best she fix it!!! I had to hug her i feel so beautyfull.

I am new to the Charlotte area and I have been searching for a stylist since Aug. I found that a lot of salons in the area have very little experience with natural African-American hair or treat all AA hair the same......but not here!!! Elggin did a wonderful job on my hair, it was so bouncy and shiny and he didn't use alot of products either!!! Also I didn't feel rushed and better yet I didn't have to stay there all day and night (like other salons). Also Minou does eyebrow threading, too! The salon is very upscale and absolutely beautiful, but the prices are astonishing ( I paid 55.00 for my brows and a wash/blow dry/style!!!). I am now on the books as a regular!!!

Anyone can go to a famous colorist and pay lots of money for highlights ? if he or she can squeeze you in. The real trick is finding someone talented who is on the rise and can give you her full attention. A single process with Amanda Benson, a colorist @ Varji & Varji, and she creates the kind of natural but brilliant look that has people stopping her clients on the street.

I moved to Charlotte from Los Angeles, so clearly I had high expectations for a new hair salon in a different city. I made an appointment for highlights and a blowdry and the guy I saw did a great job with the color. I was pretty nervous seeing a new stylist since I've been going to the same guy in LA for about 5 years! We went over a few options and he made me feel really comfortable - the outcome was fantastic!! He didn't have time for a blowdry but he gave me over to an assistant named Ashley (the same girl who did my EXCELLENT shampoo and scalp massage). I can't believe she's only an assistant and not a stylist. This girl is gonna be amazing when she gets to start doing hair!!! Needless to say, I had a great experience and highly recommend Varji to EVERYONE!!!
