I recently came back to Charlotte on business and stayed at the Ballantyne Resort. Looking for a place near by I stumbled across D?Vine Wine (cute name). Coming in the door things looked promising. I walked right into the bar and grabbed a table with my guests. There was a decent crowd, and live music playing which is always a plus in my book. However, things quickly made even my lidless optimism come to an end.
After getting menus from the host we had time for a nice LONG conversation about our day before anyone even acknowledged us. Once we were greeted we were once again given a nice and long vacation from anyone that worked there. Fortunately for us we are able to find humor in most things and kept ourselves mildly entertained while our server hung out at the bar, most likely talking about how cool he is. Finally we had something to sip on! I must say, after staring at our glasses of wine that sat at the bar waiting for attention longer than we did, it was the best thing I?d had in a week. Next came time for some food, and trust me by this time we were starved. Right out of the gate I was absolutely overwhelmed with intrigue by the Kobe Beef and Foie Gras sliders. Kobe Beef and Foie Gras for $11!??! These guys must be geniuses if they have figured out a way to combine these two pricey meats for only $11. Turns out they are just hacks. My Kobe Beef and Foie Gras sliders were nothing more than nice ground chuck meat accompanied by rolls you can get at your local Food Lion. However, there was consistency in their style. The ?House Cut Chips? that I order along side of my hacked up sliders of delicacy were nothing more than Cape Cod chips straight out of the bag. The same bag that they no doubt picked up with their rolls from Food Lion and then left open for 3 days?
I apologize for the rant, but this experience had to be shared. To top it all off when we expressed our displeasure about our experience to our server he simply said, ?sorry ?bout dat?, and walked away. Simply put my experience at D?Vine Wine felt about as good as my stomach did later that night. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT waste your time or hard earned money at this place.
Pros: Someone else makes the wine.
Cons: The food and the service
