A Great night out

by jDN

The wild boar is a must get when you go and unlike the pervious description I found the lobster fritters to be delicious and thought the thai sweet chili sauce was a great compliment to them.
We enjoyed the live music on Friday night when we were there and especially loved the great wine selection, the main reason we went! Great Job guys, we will be back soon.

Pros: Great food, wine and service

Unfortunately, food not that good

by ART1

The lobster fritters were indeed poor quality. It has a sweet and sour sauce on it similar to a Chinese buffet. The Mixed Greens and Tomato/Mozz salads had no taste. The Cuban sandwich was not bad, but rather average. The menu items we tried were a disappointment.

Pros: Good wine selection

Cons: poor quality food

This place is exceptional.

by TrinityNeo

Great and comfy outdoor lounging chairs and sofas. Never new that D'vine Wine had a wine tasting room. Fancy but not "stuffy." And, the food was really good. I had a delightful first date at D'vine Wine Cafe. I'm in love! Not so sure about the guy though!!

Pros: Many options from wine tasting to great outdoor lounging

Cons: none

Eh...

by AaronJ06

Order an appetizer of Lobster, Crab, and Corn Fritters....terrible. It tasted like microwavable food. Then ordered sliders of Kobe beef, tuna, and lobster & crab. The "Kobe" beef was burnt! When you order Kobe, it should be close to rare and it was well done. It almost tasted like cheap beef. The tuna was dried and had no flavor. The lobster and crab was exactly like the appetizer.. terrible. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone as the food is below average.

Pros: Decent price

Cons: Terrible food

Not Impressed!

by KMC228

A friend of mine visited with her husband a couple of months ago. The fish she was served had literally gone BAD! She knew as soon as the plate was served in front of her; she didn't have to taste it. She likes food but is no Chef, but the odor was overwhelming. So it made us wonder two things. Either (1) The Chef didn't keep track of the date of the fish or really couldn't tell it had gone bad; or (2) he knew and served it anyway. Either scenario is scary! I ended up making a separate visit on the urging of another girlfriend. We agreed NOT to eat the food and just have some wine. This man, who we later found out was the owner, was literally leering at us. It was soo uncomfortable and when he would walk away the couple next to us would laugh because it was so ridiculous. They told us he was the owner and we were appalled. What kind of establishment is this? I will NOT be back.

Love it, always have a great time

by jennazer

I have been here quite a few times. I'm not sure why the previous poster had such a bad experience, but everyone I know that has visited this place had only positive things to say about it. No, they don't make their own wine there, but they don't advertise that fact either. They do however have a large wine list and their wait staff is very educated in all of them. I have had their food as well. My experience with it has always been good. In fact ,the chef even came out of the kitchen one night and asked if we were enjoying the food. For the wait staff, I have never seen any of them standing around. The owner is always there and would never let that happen. Clearly, they are doing something right because this place is packed all the time. What I have learned is, sometimes even when everything is perfect there will always be people who feel the need to complain.

Pros: Extensive wine list, great food

Cons: zip

What a WASTE

by drschops

I recently came back to Charlotte on business and stayed at the Ballantyne Resort. Looking for a place near by I stumbled across D?Vine Wine (cute name). Coming in the door things looked promising. I walked right into the bar and grabbed a table with my guests. There was a decent crowd, and live music playing which is always a plus in my book. However, things quickly made even my lidless optimism come to an end.

After getting menus from the host we had time for a nice LONG conversation about our day before anyone even acknowledged us. Once we were greeted we were once again given a nice and long vacation from anyone that worked there. Fortunately for us we are able to find humor in most things and kept ourselves mildly entertained while our server hung out at the bar, most likely talking about how cool he is. Finally we had something to sip on! I must say, after staring at our glasses of wine that sat at the bar waiting for attention longer than we did, it was the best thing I?d had in a week. Next came time for some food, and trust me by this time we were starved. Right out of the gate I was absolutely overwhelmed with intrigue by the Kobe Beef and Foie Gras sliders. Kobe Beef and Foie Gras for $11!??! These guys must be geniuses if they have figured out a way to combine these two pricey meats for only $11. Turns out they are just hacks. My Kobe Beef and Foie Gras sliders were nothing more than nice ground chuck meat accompanied by rolls you can get at your local Food Lion. However, there was consistency in their style. The ?House Cut Chips? that I order along side of my hacked up sliders of delicacy were nothing more than Cape Cod chips straight out of the bag. The same bag that they no doubt picked up with their rolls from Food Lion and then left open for 3 days?

I apologize for the rant, but this experience had to be shared. To top it all off when we expressed our displeasure about our experience to our server he simply said, ?sorry ?bout dat?, and walked away. Simply put my experience at D?Vine Wine felt about as good as my stomach did later that night. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT waste your time or hard earned money at this place.

Pros: Someone else makes the wine.

Cons: The food and the service

Best Wine Selections in Charlotte

by winegoddess1

I just discovered this place about a month ago and I've been back almost every weekend since! Under the Grape is by far the best best place to drink wine in Charlotte. The atmosphere is cool, comfortable and not at all stuffy or intimidating. The staff is very knowledgable and the wine selections are delicious! They have live bands every night and an awesome second story patio that looks down over the village - great for people watching! I definately reccommend going to see what this place is all about.

Great wines, great prices, great staff!

by hidenwood

We have just moved to Charlotte from Washington, D.C. and were lucky enough to find Under the Grape the first month we were here. What an amazing concept....the owners, Barb and Henry, are so welcoming and accommodating, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff couldn't be nicer! I recommend that you visit soon. You don't want to miss the outdoor terrace on the 2nd floor!

Pros: Wonderful retail shop, great selection and prices on the wines in the wine bar.

Cons: None!

Join the Wine Club

by charlotte7

When you join the wine club at Under the Grape, not only do you get invited to lots of special events, but you also are able to purchase wine in the store and enjoy it up in the bar. On the weekends they have great live music and we really enjoy grabbing a good bottle and sitting outside on the patio. The prices are reasonable and they have some great wines.

Pros: Wine selection, outdoor patio, live music

Cons: Crowd varies by night
