Achieve Fitness is bad financially, but good facility.

by Lori P.

I have been a member for over a year now. It's my own fault that I haven't taken advantage of the facility, so I can't complain about wasting money. I do like the movie room, the nice and open feel, and the locker room with sauna; however, I was unhappy to find out three months ago that my contract was incorrectly sent to the managing company as a 3-year contract instead of 2 years. I have been talking back and forth with the same person from National Fitness, their parent company, for the past two months to fix the problem. I even faxed and mailed a copy of my contract (which we all need to keep for this kind of reason), but they stated it was invalid because the initials of the club employee did not match a current employee. He is no longer there, but he was there when I signed on. I finally drove to the Concord facility to get help, and I was told it was fixed by that employee on the computer to my account; but we'll see what happens as of October of 2010. I've already informed my credit card company of the issue, hoping to avoid any payments that should not be withdrawn. Just be careful what you sign up for, and contracts always suck!

we love it!!!

by F O.

I am a current member, and I have to say that I love it!!! the equipment is very nice, they offer a variety of classes with great instructors, and they have a new Zumba class that I just love!!
The bathrooms are always clean and the facility is very well maintained.
Everybody that works there is very polite, and they make sure to say hi and ask you how you are doing.
I recommend Achieve to anybody!! any age!!! it's great! me & my husband love it, not to mention we've met great friends there.

Achieve Fitness is Fake and unprofessional

by disappointed C.

I am disappointed with the gym not because the equipment they have nice equipment it is the unprofessional environment and the way they do business. Everyone seems to get a different rate kind of like a vacum cleaners sales rep when they keep ripping the pages with a lower rate on each one. So you could be paying 50 and they person next to you is paying 29 hardly fair or a good way to do business. I am told from an employee Zach doesn't return phone calls from upset customers they have to keep calling and calling. When I called with an issue my friends told me don't expect or believe much from Zach he seemed polite and caring even offered his prayers for my family which I thought was nice then an employee told me shortly after he was laughing at me and then a friend said what do you expect he calls the people that come in the morning bible thumpers. Just seems unbelievable to me that someone would stoop to that level before I didn't believe the negative things i heard about him but now I know from my own experience it is true. They are very unprofessional and one of the guys is touchy feeling and calls you from his cell I am married and he even had the nerve to ask me to go home with him made me very uncomfortable and I stopped working out there a while a simular thing also happened to one of my friends so she stopped going there. I guess that is acceptable behavior there as well. I don't think they have family values there and they think it is more like a night club than a gym. I think the successful gym that makes it will be the one that figures out family values are important and giving everyone the same affordable rate will bring loyalty and lots of referrals they way they try to bring people I don't know how long they will last I wouldn't want to pre-pay too much. I can personally say going there and interacting with the staff it was a mistake and I wish I could undo it.

Achieve Fitness is not worth the money!

by Bobbie B.

We signed up with Achieve Fitness in January while it was still being built and were promised daycare for our three children any time they were opened. They were supposed to open in April, but the facility wasn't ready until July. When we started going, we found out the daycare was only available on certain days and certain hours. I wanted to cancel because of this, but because the guy didn't SPECIFY that in my contract, I can't prove he told me that. I can't cancel my service and my husband and I never go. We have probably been 10 times in the 2 years we have had it. I wrongly assumed I would only have to keep my contract through April of this year coming up, but was informed by the NOT-SO-FRIENDLY people I spoke to a year ago that I would have to stay in it through July....I hate that I am wasting the money every month and getting no use out of it. I hate that they get to charge me an administration fee every December. I don't like going because nobody is helpful at all unless you pay for a trainer. The equipment was great when we were going....but it definitely wasn't enough to keep us coming. I can't wait until July 2010 when I won't have to pay them another dime and I would definitely NOT recommend anybody sign on to this gym. They will find even the smallest loophole to keep receiving your money even if you aren't happy and I will NEVER sign another contract with a facility again because of them!

Achieve Fitness is in need of better management

by Phillip H.

I can't speak of the gym itself, because I've never stepped foot in it. I manage the Peak Fitness in Concord. Although I'm new to the Concord location, I've been with Peak Fitness for 7 years. I've been here at the Concord location for nearly 2 months, and I find it funny, yet sad, that every time I speak to someone who's at Achieve or who's toured Achieve, how often they tell me that Zack tells them "oh, you don't want to join Peak Fitness. They're going out of business". There's absolutely no truth in that statement; just the opposite actually. I just find it very sad that Zack is not any better of a salesman/person than to tell flat out lies about his competitor. I've heard it from too many different people for it to be hearsay. So, please (to anyone who reads this and still goes there) tell Zack to grow up, get a spine, and quit his story telling.

Achieve Fitness is a great facility

by Shelly S.

I moved away and tried to cancel my membership but didn't move more than 30 miles away so was unable to cancel it. I ended up paying for one whole year and not using it but honestly it's really my fault since i signed up for a three year contract knowing teh only way to get out was a move further than 30 miles. As far as the facility goes I am extremely happy with it (now that i'm back to using it) and i go out of my way to go there with a 30 minute commute to teh gym. The facility is definitely worth it. Great hammerstrength equipment, tons of cardio machines and lots of room to do your own thing if your setting up your own little circuit or something.

Not exactly correct

by Donna W.

ok, so I have to agree that Zach has his favorites, but Moses and Juan are super. I signed up for the Biggest Loser Comp. too, and it did seem to be all screwed up, but I go there, and they know me and they know my goals and they encourage me to lose weight. They show me what I need (Moses & Juan) (Zach doesn't, I'm not thin, young or pretty enough apparently) Tiffany was a joke (glad she's gone) I am losing, I have self confidence, I look forward to going to the gym. It is a state of the art facility, they keep the equipment in good condition, even at 5 am the atmosphere is upbeat, and it's clean, and I love the Sauna... Get rid of Zach and all the problems would be gone.

Achieve Fitness is Zacks personal sideshow and piggy bank.

by Kristy B.

OMG a living nightmare is what Achieve fitness Concord has been to me and my best friend.I signed up with Tiffany(which is no longer with the company thank God)but anyways it was for the biggest looser comp. My experience has been nothing but a pain in my ass. Don't get me wrong the facility is amazing the up to date equipment, modern lavatory, and sauna. Please please please do not waist your money on a membership because they have their favorites. I've been waiting on a personal trainer for the past 2 damn months and still am waiting to this day. They must learn to recite what they say to new customers because i was told the same BS by 3 different people that work there Im telling you they are all robots lol lol lol. The customer service skills suck ass. O and please don't get me started on Zack. Zack is Wack. They are out to get your money and don't care to what extent they have to go to get it. All of the workers have been taught to suck the last penny out of any new individual that walks through the door. He has his head so far up his own ass 99.9% of the time he's conversating with his own damn organs lol. If i see him when i arrive i usually leave and miss out on my workout. He is a poor example of leadership. He favors his friends and can give a rats ass about the ones he don't know. I wouldn't recommend this Gym to a wild animal. Unless you like being F***** by an over tailored Gym manager that's as fake as his inflatable muscles lol. My Tip to others is run run the other way and never return to Achieve fitness unless you plan on bringing your petroleum jelly. Play safe lol lol lol lol lol lol. The devil's playpen.

State-of-the-art Facility! The best in concord!

by Tiffany R.

Achieve Fitness is THE BEST facility in concord. Not a scam. No fine print. Not a rip off. People claiming they are going to collections have nobody to blame but themselves for not making the commitment. This club is run by a gentleman and his 2 brothers, and have helped me so much in tough times. BTW, the main reason people go to collections is because they close their accounts. Thats not a good idea, so for going to collections, again, that is your fault for not cancelling during your 3 day period given to everyone to cancel. YOU SHOULD USE IT IF YOU STILL HAVE IT! Amazing club, exceptional staff, and my goals have been met. There are 3 people that stand out to my on staff and they have been a great deal of help and have always been extremely pleasant to me. Clean, sterile, and by far the best facility for your money! Thank you! :)

Horrible place!!

by Jennifer S.

Like other reviewers, I have tried to cancel my membership with Achieve Fitness for over a year. I did go so far to close my bank account, and still they are relentless. Now they are threatening to send me to collections. My sister-in-law is having a similar issue. This is a scam and a rip off and the worst experience I have ever had in dealing with a gym.

Worst Service Ever!

by Amanda H.

I have been trying for a month to cancel my membership and have even vernighted my paperwork to them in Utah and they say they "lost" it, it had been signed for! So now it's twice I was wrongly charged $40 in overnighting fees and now five overdraft fees due to a payment I was told that would not be taken out!
Even when I was going when I went to see a trainer they never showed up, this happened three times.
I'm now going to be talking to the B.B.B.

Worst Gym Ever

by Angela A. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,676

The facility at Achieve Fitness is great. I was impressed with the equipment and the locker rooms. But that's the end of the "good news". This is the biggest scam going. I signed up for a 16 week trial (paid). At the end of the 16 weeks they said all I had to do was submit in writing that I was canceling my membership. That's exactly what I did. I met every requirement in order to cancel but they refused to cancel my membership and conveniently would not return my phone calls, and no one would ever talk to me about the situation when i would go in. I had several friends that joined the trial as well and had the same difficulty. One is still dealing with the problem a year later. The only way I could get out of the situation was to close my bank account...such a pain. Beware of this place. Do not let the facility fool you.
