Dr. Dorfman has never made me feel rushed or like she was just trying to push whatever drug was paying her. Always calls back when messages are left and has evening hours for those who are unable to make appointments during normal business hours.

I have been seeing Dr. Michael Zarzar since 1991 when he was recommended by my surgeon to help me deal with chronic pain. Since then he has helped me through many perils in life and is always willing to help in times of need. I never have a problem getting to talk with him. I just have to wait until he finishes seeing patients for the day and he returns my call. However, I do not abuse this and only call him when I feel it is absolutely necessary. He seems to not only know me but through talking with him, when I mention a member of my family, he always remembers them (even though he has never met them). A friend was referred by a psychiatrist in Charlotte and was told she thought he was the best in Raleigh. I have to agree. He is most congenial and makes you feel like you have known him forever; however, you always know that he is the "doc".

Everything the other reviewer says is accurate. Nice guy and very smart. I can't ever picture him "losing it" --he is just so calm. Sure doesn't hurt that he is great looking as well.

This is the best psychiatrist I have ever met. I've met a lot, because I am one myself! Dr. Wiley is incredibly patient and really listens to his patients. He is very kind and has genuine concern. He is knowledgable about medications and treatment but will also take the time to listen to the larger context of your life and how your illness or symptoms fit in. He is never judgemental, even if (when) you stop taking medications. He is the kind of physician everyone wants to have, because he is the kind of physician you feel respect for. That mutual respect means you always go back to talk with him, even if things are not going well, or you have made bad decisions. He makes an effort to keep up with the latest in psychiatry. However, his best quality is his calm and kind approach to everything.

Pros: Dr. Wiley himself, parking, good location

Cons: Not in-network Blue Cross, appointment making over the phone can be difficult

David Zarzar is an excellent doctor and I'm so happy going to see him. They don't take my insurance but I pay full price because he's worth it! Very pleased with him and have reccommended him to others.
