Planet 21 Salon

I have been a client of planet 21 at the fountains for about 2 years now. I have been to many salons in the charlotte are but this is hands down the best one around. The receptionists know my name as soon as I walk in the front door and great me with huge smiles. Mandi does my color, and sonia my cuts, and I am always so happy with the result. The atmosphere is very cool, and the prices are reasonable. I would recommend Planet 21 salon to absolutely everyone!!!

I was a client at Planet 21 in the arboretum for years, I was always very happy with it, but when the fountains location on Ardrey kell opened I switched to that salon.

I can not say enough about how wonderful this salon is, to the extremely friendly front desk staff, to the atmosphere, to the amazing stylists, and reasonable prices, there is absolutely no better salon in the charlotte area.

Try planet 21 salon!! You absolutely wont regret it.

I made an appointment for a simple color touch up at the new location at The Fountains at Ardrey Kell. I arrived 10 minutes late as I have never been to this location and could not find the exact locale. I entered through the "back" door twice with not a word from anyone. Finally I arrived at reception area and was told immediately that my appointment was cancelled because i was late and they were sooo booked. I explained the reason I was late to no avail. They didn't ask if I wanted to reschedule for another time or apologize. The receptionists were smug, sarcastic, and snobbish. It was as if they truely enjoyed telling my appt. was cancelled. When I arrived back home I found out they had called my house and spoken with my 9 year old and they told her that if I didn't arrive by 3:35 (appt. time 3:30), they wouldn't be able to see me.
What kind of service professionals are these????
I will never go back to any PLANET 21 SALON... my time is too valuable and I don't deserve to be treated so rudely.

I always feel great when I leave this salon. I love the atmosphere, and the stylists are excellent. From the junior to the senior stylists, you can always expect the best. I have extremely hard hair to cut and manage. I have only found a few people over the years who can give me a good haircut, and Planet 21 is the best.

I asked for one inch cut off, a trim...how hard can that be...the stylist took one look at my beautiful thick hair and cut 3 inches off and she took the liberty to cut up my layers...I walked out with a major haircut instead of a trim! During the cut I kept asking , "is that one inch" I think I should of brought a ruler to show this person who must be living on planet 21. She also cut one side 2.5 inches longer than the other! What a nightmare. It will take 5 months to wake up and see my beautiful hair again. It was the equivalent of a 4 year old cutting my hair!!!

Planet 21 is a relaxing and inviting salon. I felt So comfortable when I was there and received a great cut and My color was amazing.
I have Gone there also for Special styles for friends weddings and have always loved it!!

I highly reccomend going there and checking it out yourself!!

Pros: Best service and I feel Amazing everytime I leave!

Those of you who read and go by reviews should not take these at face value. I have been a client of Planet 21 for over 6 yrs and have not only been satisfied but elated each visit. I run a business that caters to female clients and have sent several of my customers to Planet 21 with great compliments after they visit the salon. Not one person Ive sent over the years has ever had anything negative to say. I have tried alot of salons in Charlotte and Planet 21 is by far the very best you can have. My thoughts are the people who wrote such negetive reviews are extremely hard to please or never satisfied with anything. I really can't believe that they received poor service as I have never ever in 6 + years had a less than perfect cut, color, or service. Honestly, do not judge this salon by bad reviews, book a consult or service and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

I booked an appointment with one of the higher level stylists and what a HORRIBLE experience that was. I arrived early and she didn't see me until 5:45 and my appointment was for 5:00!!! Her assistant came out to see me and apologized but the stylist didn't say sorry or explain at all. Not only that the assistant spent more time with me than the stylist did! I have no idea where the stylist went to but she was gone half the time. I paid $55 bucks to be seen by an experienced artist NOT an assistant. The customer service was the worst and the cut was average if that. I regret driving all the way out there, ruined my day. Definitely NOT recommended.

I have heard and read many glowing reviews of Planet 21--most of them on this site. Since reading all of these great reviews, I immediately booked an appointment for a haircut. Everything went really well at the salon, sweet stylist, great haircut, cool atmosphere--it was all really good, until the end, when all of a sudden my stylist just took the mirror out of my hands, pulled me out of the chair, barely saying a word and led me halfway to the receptionist and just left. Needless to say, I was slightly put off and honestly wondering if I had done something to this lady. Regardless, I decided to try again, even though that experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I booked another appointment recently, to have my hair highlighted/lowlighted. After telling my stylist (a different one) what i wanted, the colors, etc. Once again, I had a pleasant experience during the appointment. When I saw my hair after it was done, I was horrifed at what had been done--instead of "subtle dark copper highlights with a dark brown lowlight" that I asked for-- I had 5 huge streaks of bright red/orange through my hair and 2 thin streaks of bright, light blonde!!! My stylist even addressed the fact that she "got some of the highlights too heavy", I was so upset, I just didn't know what to say. I expressed being not happy with the results, and the cost was lowered, but I just don't understand how she thought it was okay, even laughing about my new "different" look. I gave it two tries, but I'll be going elsewhere in the future.

As a client of Planet 21 Salon for the past 10 years, I was very disturbed by the negative review posted on this site. I highly disagree with the review and to my knowledge there has never even been a male colorist at the salon. If a reviewer is going to post such negative remarks they should atleast be factual. Planet 21 is a fabulous salon. I have never left the salon feeling unhappy with my services. In fact quite the contrary. I would refer anyone to Planet 21. All their stylists are trained extensively to insure that the quality that has made them as succesful as they are today remains in place.

I Do not agree at all with the recent negative review that was posted, I have been a client at Planet 21 for seven years and have never had a bad experience, I have seen several of the stylists and colorists, they are always willing to accomodate and also give plenty of suggestions to help you decide what would be best for you. I also know that there had never been a male colorist there, I would suggest that someone needs to work on their story if the are going to be spreading such negative comments.

I had my hair highlighted by one of the "top" level stylists. The guy that did the color did not listen to anything that I asked for he was like "well, we can do this" when I was asking for simple lighter and darker blonde highlights! I came out with red and brown streaks and very little blonde.. I am normally platinum blonde(which I walked in there with). Needless to say I hated it!! He basically did whatever he wanted with no care as to what I wanted. I had my cut done by a girl there it was nothing more that ok. I guess it helps that I asked for just a trim with very simple layers. My boyfriend had made an appointment the same week for a cut and even though I was unhappy I told him to go ahead and go because it was with a different stylist. He called me 5 minutes after he left and even sent me a pix message of the cut because he hated it so much! He called the salon the next day to speak with a manager and they said all the could do is re-cut it. So about 2 weeks later the owner of the salon cut it. Assuming this would be much better, but still going to be the end of the road with us for Planet 21. Well, we were wrong the cut was still horrible... I mean how can you really go wrong with a guys cut? ... Well, needless to say we haven't returned and have told everyone about the bad experience. We are now going to Toni&Guy and CarmenCarmen with better stylists, less sales pressure, and more personable staff. Give those guys a call BEFORE going to Planet 21.

I have been looking through all the reviews and I noticed one about Planet 21 Salon. They said that the salon was great, which is very true, however they also said that it was a Carmen and Carmen trained salon. They are not, Planet 21 trains there own cutters and colorists with there own techniques.

Being new to the Charlotte area, I was very apprehensive about going to a new salon. After doing some research, Planet 21 was a name that I kept seeing/hearing all along with postive comments. The reception staff went out of their way to insure I was being booked with a colorist I would be happy with and they were right! Ahren took the time to understand what I was looking for and did an amazing job. Eric, salon co-owner cut my hair and the results are amazing, I get compliments every where I go. There are no egos at Planet 21, just outgoing and talented stylists & colorists.

I have lived in Charlotte for about 3 yrs. I have finally found a salon that I love. I went for the first time a couple of days ago as it was a wonderful experience. If you go, ask for Jackie. She did an incredible razor cut and took me from long to short in no time. She knew exactly what I wanted and she did such an awesome job. I loved the atmosphere as well. Everyone was great. All I have left to say is you better check Planet 21 out. You won't be disappointed.

Recently moved to Charlotte, decided to try Planet 21 on the name alone. Now I have been twice for color. It has earned my trust. It is normal expensive but you get what you pay for, creative and hip people making you beautiful!!!! Try it, you'll like it..

I have must of looked and looked for a great stylist to cut my hair...i went to Margo Blue (they didnt make me feel very comfortable, and not to friendly) ,Carmen Carmen (atmosphere wasnt to salon material for me), and even Hair Plus (totally not what i was looking for). But when i walked into Planet 21 the receptionist were awesome, very nice and helpful and set me up an appointmet w/ Sonya, who by the way was a great stylist and very helpful, i totally love this place and i think i finally found my salon!

I have been in Charlotte for about 10 months and bounced around from Carmen Carmen to Modern Salon and was not even impressed. Boring, non-imaginative safe, dated style... I would describe them as "beige." I was in another state/metro area and was at a salon flipping through a hair book and saw some great cuts and colors...... I was so excited when I saw Planet 21/Charlotte attached to these. I called as soon as I got home, set up an appt with Eric and gave him a vague idea of what I was looking for and he did it with masterful perfection!!! Highly recommended.
