I went into this dealership looking for a new 2009 Passat or a low mileage demo. They had one demo (2009) on the lot for $25,995.00. I told the salesman that with the current incentives, I could buy that car at any dealer for $25,000.00 (cash)brand new. So why would I pay more for a used car. He came back to me at $19,700.00 which seemed appropriate for this car and mileage. I took a test drive and the car seemed fine. I told him that since this was for my wife I would like to bring her in to see and drive the car. We returned two days later, he had the car all cleaned up and ready for my wife to drive. She took it for a drive and after a check of the car we decided to buy the car for cash. While we were starting the paperwork Dave came back to the table and said they would not sell us the car at that price. Well we were shocked. We all have heard of "bait and switch" but they didn't even come back to us with what would be an acceptable price for that car. On principle we would not have bought the car from them.
You have a rating curve of 1 to 5, I would like to add a new one on the negative side of that for their stupidity. If you didn't want to sell the car at that price, don't offer that price. I'm still scratching my head on this one!!!!!
