I purchased a one year membership with RWJ Health center in June of 2012. I paid for one year up front with cash. At the time the sales person told me they needed my credit card or bank account information but only for security. I stated to the rep that under no circumstances should my card be billed with out my authorization. I explained that I was paying in cash because I have had to many instances in the past where monies being withdrawn cause overdrafts. I was assured that no charges would be applied to my card.

I never really felt comfortable there, The staff seemed upity and acted like they were better than everybody else, they kept telling me if I did not come to their facility at least once per month, my membership would end. I became sick in November of 2012 and was unable to make it there for thirty days, I assumed my membership was ended. That is until I found a withdraw from my bank account to start a new membership six months later.
They did not send me any correspondence, email or make a phone call. I did not authorize this transaction. Now I am being told that I must give the facility thirty days notice that i wish to quit. They will not refund my money. They say I signed a contract. That maybe true but the represenitive that assisted me initially was told that I was paying for one year and one year only. I was assured that no charges would be applied to my card.

The day after realizing that i was being charged for a service I did not want, I went to the facility and met with a short prudish woman named Kristina Carocci. As is the nature of the majority of employees at the facility, she was very arrogant and refused any assistance other than not charging me again in the future. I explained to her that I am disabled and on a fixed income, her only reply was you signed a contract and sorry I will not refund your money.

they are full of poop - I used to be a member for over a year. my monthly membership fee was $52.00 - then I was stationed in Iraq for couple years and obviously wasn't sure if I will be back to NJ so I cancelled my membership - I came back to NJ and tried to become a member once again - they told me the monthly fee was $56.00 instead of $52.00. I said why is it higher now? they said all members now pay higher. I didn't buy their horse sh$t because my my buddy goes there they never raised his monthly fee. I know it's only 4 bucks but dont lie to me.

He signed up the same day he toured the club. No special deals. RWJ has had the same price structure since they opened. unlike other "gyms" were you get a lower price the more you "haggle," RWJ has a set price structure. Richard is no more deserving of a better rate than the next person. I'm sure most would agree that if you are getting the same service at the same place, you should not be paying different prices. The first member that enrolled when the club opened is paying the same as the members who enrolled today. If you are a friend of Richard, please ask him to show you his agreement he signed. It will show you he did not receive any "reduced rates."

First, I am a current member, however, I'm not sure I would join again. The sales process is very high pressure and arrogant. They make it seem like its a privilege to join their gym, telling new potential customers that they are interviewing you for suitability as much as you are interviewing them. In reality of course, this is just a sleezy sales tactic taught in virtually any low budget sales course. They claim they don't negotiate...until you put pressure on them. I don't care what they say, if you leave and give them a couple days, they'll call you back and offer more discounts than the first "1st visit only" discount. Don't believe that for a second, leave and wait week, you'll get a significantly lower rate. Upset with how they handled the first meeting, I left and in 2 weeks they were calling me back offering to lower the $300 initiation fee to only $50 if I would come in that day. I saved $250 just by waiting a couple days, you can too. The facility is nice, but even after joining they try and make you feel like its your privilege to be there, which gets pretty obnoxious after a while

Tried 6 times to get a price for membership. Horrible...still dont have one. Won't give a price over the phone, wont give one in person unless you go thru their grueling sales process...hard to beleive they have client at all.

Everything you could ever want in a gym. A pool, hot tub, sauna and equipment that never stops. Classes for every body type and age.

Membership here is expensive, but they have plenty to offer. Besides their state of the art gym, they have a daycare center, a physical rehab center, and many classroom for community based classes. It is a beautiful facility and associated with RWJ Hospital.

The Nursing Support Group @ RWJ has been a lifesaver for so many of us. The group meets every Tuesday from 1:30-2:30. This group is led by lactation counselors who can address any medical concerns. The other moms who attend the group are a wealth of knowledge & know how. Whether you are having breastfeeding issues or not, it is great to know that there are other women out there going through what you're going through.

I began attending this group when my son was 8 weeks old & was ready to give up. With the support of the women there, I continued to breastfeed until my son was 1 year old. Now I am preparing to go back after the birth of my daughter.
