The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed for a moderately priced to high priced hotel. Rooms include a small kitchenette with refrigerator, stove, micro-wave, and coffee maker with free coffee supplies. (I have to say the coffee that the hotel supplied was TERRIBLE--but I'm used to fresh-ground.)

Residents are treated to a free American-style breakfast. And it's worth staying at the Lafayette just to get this breakfast: yogurt, cold cereals, sweet rolls, eggs, bacon, sausage, eggs Benedict, pancakes, and freshly made waffles are all included in the buffet and you eat as much (or as little) as you like.

I found the service to be excellent, and the staff was friendly and well-informed as to the sites to be seen in town.

My only real complaint (aside from the coffee) is that the hotel does NOT permit smoking ANYWHERE in or around the hotel with the exception of the parking lot. And they are not kidding! The penalties for smoking on the premises are hefty: eviction without refund, $250 fine and a $100 special cleaning fee. So if you absolutely have to smoke (like I did), smoke in the parking lot (preferably inside your car) or find another hotel.

My brother and I found our experience at the Lafayette
to be thoroughly enjoyable. and we plan to return in the autumn of 2009.
