I frequently stop here when I'm visiting Smithville. The food is always good. The service is fast and friendly and I love the atmosphere.

Fred & Ethel's is as all-American as apple pie and ice cream. Tonight we had a window table with a view of the quaint village of Smithville as a backdrop to a lovely dinner. Two of us had the prime rib, cooked to perfection, and two had Italian style porkchops. I started with a delightful bowl of steamed clams followed by a not so wonderful bowl of tomato bisque, the only disappointment of the evening. The prices were very reasonable (total bill for 4 including 3 glasses of wine and an appletini, coffee, and desserts came to $112).

The food at Fred and Ethel's is pretty good, but the prices are the little on the pricey side. However, I would definitely recommend it if only for the atmosphere; it just feels really cozy when you come in.

It doesn't matter what else is on the menu. Order the tomato soup. Trust me. This is an old building in the Smithville Village. Brick walls and floor. Hard wooden booths and tables. There is a bar you walk through to come in. Crowded on tourist weekends. Go at night with the locals. Order the tomato soup.
