Avalanche replaced one air conditioning unit, coil, furnace and plenum in our two zoned house, which we purchased in May. We replaced the unit the week we moved in, as the old unit was flagged as end-of-life issue on the home inspection. We had received a quote from Avalanche prior to the purchase of the house and scheduled the installation for immediately upon moving in as they recommended we schedule before the busy summer season. Total cost for the installation was approximately $10,000 for a relatively high end Trane matched system, which had current rebates and tax credits of about $2,100. Avalanche was the lowest of three bids for the installation after rebates.

Avalanche??s post-installation service has been abysmal, they have been frustrating to deal with for many items despite frequent follow up - including driving to their office on two (2) occasions to follow up on outstanding items. On both of these instances, the owner personally claimed to have resolved the issues (once the permits, once the replacement part) and my wife drove to the Avalanche office with two preschool children in tow to receive the promised items (permit copies and replacement part) only to arrive at the office and discover that the issues (the permits and part) were not in fact resolved and were not available.

Avalanche did come out on one follow up call due to extensive duct sweating and insulated the ducts; and looked to address issues with a return air duct improperly installed, missing paperwork for rebates, and a non-functional UV filter. They did not completely resolve the issues at hand with that visit but have been non-responsive to continued follow up since that return call.

Specifically
- Avalanche did not file for the appropriate permits for several months despite repeated requests for this documentation, and lied repeatedly about having submitted the materials to the township. The township provided us with the filing date which was several months after the installation despite our repeated follow up and Avalanche??s assurance that the permits were filed and we were waiting on the township.
- Avalanche installed a faulty item (UV filter) and has still not provided a replacement part. This faulty item is holding up our final inspection as the township has indicated that we will fail inspection for any item installed as part of the contract that is not in working order.
- Avalanche installed new return air ??ducts? without ductwork; by simply punching a hole in the ceiling area. Return air was being drawn from the within the building walls. This was partially repaired on a follow up visit; however this repair was completed with non-building-code materials as opposed to ductwork. This open item will fail inspection.
- Avalanche did not secure insulation materials on the HVAC air handler system; the insulation covered the return air duct and was blocking air exchange. We were forced to fix this ourselves due to failure to respond to follow up calls.
- Avalanche did not provide appropriate documentation for a portion of the NJ rebates (Manual J calculation form as required by state program)
- Avalanche neglected to provide an invoice marked ??paid? to allow for the submission of NJ state rebate forms (eventually resolved by us driving to their office to pick up documents)
- Avalanche was unable to install one quoted item (4? filter) yet did not credit the amount to the contract until pressed on the item. It was credited after pressing the issue on final payment.
- Avalanche did not respond to scheduling request for duct cleaning service which they recommended (at additional cost)

it is now late September and we do not have the replacement part, rebate checks, or final inspection approval on this system. We have dealt directly with the owner on these issues, following up approximately once a week seeking resolution.

I would not recommend Avalanche due to poor post installation follow up, lack of communication, and continued deception regarding outstanding issue resolution.

Help! I called this company out of the blue and they answered immediately! The came out to Shrewsbury and installed a new furnace and ac unit after a previous contractor was a causative factor in a fire in my house. They were effiecient, professional, and provide immediate service. I am using them again to install a water heater. I give them a thumbs up for their integrity.
