Five Restaurant is beautiful,but......
by becca g.
Very very nice interior ,but it was empty when i went and was told business is not the best . There were a few things i would of liked, for the money i was paying . Simple things that people like , warm good bread ,we got cold bread that was hard to chew ,not because it was old ,it was just very rustic ,older people may not like that . The salads ,very very skimpy, one cherry tomato cut in half and one slice of cuke. ,i know this is suppose to be fine dining and portions are small ,but add a little something to make it more than an a boring nothing salad you could get anywhere. I didn't like the sweet potato, bacon side that came with the meal , my husband loved it , you'd have to like bacon , i don't know if there were other options it seemed to come with all the meat dishes. The actual food was good but w/ my lobster tail ,i got drawn butter ,but no way to keep it warm , it was cold by the time i used it. over all the food was good. Bottom line if the restaurant wants return customers they need to remember that the small touches go a long way and no matter how "high end" the meal is people want value for their money . I would go back to sit outside on the beautiful patio, maybe just for drinks and app's next time .

Nice atmosphere especially in the summer- Garden setting. The gardens are breathtaking. Fire pits add to the outdoor ambiance. The shrimp cocktail appetizer is presented in a martini glass and tastes amazing. The menu is continental by famed chef McKinnon (previous owner of McKinnon's in Northville). Can be somewhat pricey but it is fine dining. Recommended.
