Bob's Boathouse

I just don't get all these reviews. I have been to Bobs ALOT and only had a problem one time and that was that it was so busy i had to wait 50 minutes to eat and it was great. All these bad reviews are unbelievable. I just don't understand i have had great wait staff by different girls. I think the place is great and I have met Paula she has done a GREAT job.

Everyone knows that it takes time to get things right at any business. This place has major potential. If you live in the downriver area, ESPECIALLY WYANDOTTE, you should give it another try. We need a class act other than Portofino downtown. I went on a Thursday and had a great time, didn't eat but enjoyed the surroundings! Can't wait for Fifty Amp Fuse on Thursdays in September, real smart on the owners part! Good Luck!

Ok, so i've been to this place about 4 times now. I seem to go the weekends in the afternoon and no one is ever inside the place. When we first went their the food was awesome. I loved the Apple Jack Jerk Chicken, and it kept me coming back, and the bread was great. I go their yesterday only to find out that they were out of the apple chicken and had no plans to bring it back, so I ordered something else, needless to say that was out of stock as well. And they changed up the stupid bread. Now its rolls, and WAYYY to salty.

When we sit on the patio it takes forever to get service. Yesterday the waitress came over and said she didnt know whose table this was but she will take it. Seems like no organization.

It was a nice place to take my grandpa and I loved sitting outside but it looks like its be coming another Spinakers or Pier 500. Bad for Wyandotte. I am upset about the menu change and am deciding if I want to go their again.

because the boathouse has bad service & bad food even if you let half the people you hired go you still have bad servers and your over serving.And Bobs in Florida didn't have that good of food Either been there done that too-go on-line it's there for everyone to see

Went to Bob's Boathouse to see Category 5 on August 23. Came all the way from the Lansing area. The server in our section was so overwhelmed and under trained that she never did notice that I was a new arrival. I waited 15 minutes and she still hadn't noticed me. The dishes on the table were half eaten with no one sitting there. Never asked if they could be removed. I started stacking them so someone could take them. I am an older person and have worked in the service industry many years. This poor girl could not and did not do an effective job. I never did eat. Even had to go to get my own drinks from the bar. I felt bad for her. Maybe she assumed because I was older that I didn't tip well. Too bad for her. I do. Serving is a skill that can be developed but your manager in charge of doing that must be overwhelmed because the job just wasn't getting done. I only came for the band so obviously I won't be back because you cancelled them for a DJ. I do not particularly enjoy DJ's. We older people prefer bands even though we wish they would turn it down some. You have a nice place and I was bragging it up to my friends back in Lansing but now I can tell them to nevermind because Category 5 won't be there anymore.

went to bobs last night not knowing what to expect, this is what I received. Ordered apps and dinner, food came in a timely manner, was good but not great. However a couple came to the table to check on us and I learned they were the operators of the original bobs in florida! They arrived 2 weeks ago and are already implementing major changes in staff and operations.New menu to start tuesday or wednesday the 3rd oor 4th of sept. They let us look at it and it was very nice.

Went to Bob's last night around 11:30 Pm the place was closed 10 of us girls and it was closed came all the way from Warren

what the heck you just close what kind of place is this are we suppose to guess when your going to be open

well I wont be driving back down to this place again.

Undertrained (if trained at all) staff, a testosterone fueled tiki bar and an owner that lets her ego maniac son run wild. The kitchen is a cluster&@*! ( I know, I have been in there) Hard to believe the owner has been in the hospitalities business for so long and she let this place be put together and ran haphazardly. Shame...

I went to bob's boathouse and I ordered three little burgers - they were undercooked and bland - How hard is it to make a burger that tastes better than White Castle? It took a long time to get my food and it wasn't even that busy. I checked back with my waitress (When I could find her) and asked a couple of times - then to see what came out of the kitchen was depressingly small and not tasty.
I heard some guy named Dave yelling about he was the owner, but I thought it was owned by a lady.

Wow I read on hear Friday night Bobs had a Fight,Well I was here Saturday Night and it was Fight night Again.I don't think they would have this Problem if everyone wasn't so Intoxicated and way to much over pouring going on in this Place I just sat back and took a look .not to mention when I left count them 4 Different People taking a Piss in the Lots what a Joke this Place is People cant even stand up in this place they are so Drunk.Is this what the City wants to show that this is Wyandotte who's Idea was it to let this place come into this great City and screw it over I don't think any of the People who care about this great city would let this Happen? We to the Boathouse at what I hoped to be a good time.Parking was a little Tight but Paid 5 Bucks from a couple of old dudes .
We in to what I thought would be a cool night.Had order a Drink and the Dumb Barmaid took forever with my Brew shewas over trying to hook up with what I thought was a Bum,Then a few guys thought they were the Kings of the Place,If I want to wait for a beer I sure wouldnt waste my time here I would go somewhere else to waste it .I sure wont be back sorry barstaff you let another one get away.maybe you should work inside.

This Place to me is a mess wake up Wyandotte before we sink with this mess of a place .First off went there Friday night the Place started of ok,Had a Though time finding a Parking spot so I parked in the bar's Parking up front .had a few drinks which took so so.then came the worst part the dinner it took forever and it was over cooked. I dont know where other People say their food was good on here but mine was awful.This place needs a lot of work it really is a bad place but it sure packs the young crowd then at closing a fight broke out it's just a bad place all together I think I will get in my boat and paddle away from the boathouse a big sinking ship thats what I say

My wife and I went for dinner on a Saturday at about 5:30. The waitress was prompt and knowledgeable and steered us away from a couple of entrees she said weren't going over well. What we did order: me, broiled salmon, my wife, fish and chips, was very good and cooked perfectly. The food was out in a resonable amount of time and hot. I was happy to pay the price I did for the meal I receved. The decor could use some help, but other than that I was happy with the experience.

I was disappointed. Wish my burger wasn't so over cooked. Something so simple yet important. More problems to mention but don't want to get into bad mouthing. -Carol

It's a cool building and the tiki bar is nice... but all around it seems as though the owners just threw it together along with lousy waitresses. The food was just ok.... after I waited a good 45 minutes after ordering. Chain link fence around the back? tacky Plastic tables in the cabanas? tacky wooden plain picnic tables? tacky good luck

I went to Bobs on a Saturday night the Place was so packed it took forever for my drinks & food.They must have been understaffed my waitstaff told me they had to call people in,What a Joke you should have your staff in Place on a Weekend night service was just the worst I have had. And I like how some People come on here and say you must have with somewhere else no it was Bobs Boathouse in good old Wyandotte Michigan.And I too think its stupid for anyone to have their help write good reviews about there place.Take it with a grain of salt and understand your place needs some help and fast,I clicked on some of the names and one is from Lansing Michigan and loved the Place yes how many times will she visited ?They really need to quite worrying about the outside Tiki bar they have a lot of intoxicated people in this place that are getting way to much alcohol served to them and not being cut off,Don't they know People are suppose to have a limit? wow, now that is stooping to a new low. I've heard that from a couple of employees as well. Let people just give their honest opinions on here. If you're getting more negative reviews than that means some things have to change. Step off the pedestal for a minute and make the changes necessary... before doors close... especially after your summer season.

Wow, a lot of opinionated people here it gets confusing on what to believe. Anyway I decided to try BB out for myself and it wasn't so bad, i liked the fact it was on the river and the food was good and affordable...I wouldn't give it 5 stars so i give it four because i like to round up haha.

I just got back and it was one of the best restaurants I been to in a long time. Everybody was really helpful and the food was AMAZING!! I wish they would build one closer to my house, lol. But yea I guess I have to recommend it or something so I do, go eat there :)

I ate out on the dock and although it was a little windy the staff immediately moved us inside if we do desired. I had the Tiki burgers and they were great, well cooked and well presented. They had a good choice of beer and drinks too, never can go wrong with that. In fact I plan on going back next week, I'm glad I came across this site a lot of mix reviews but I'm sure that will change when I recommended it to my friends.

I do not know what people are talking about!!! I thought my service was GREAT!!! My server was awesome and the food tasted absolutely great. My husband tried the pork loin and I had the salmon. We would go back again. William the manager came and chatted with us, he was so friendly. I would definitely reccommend it to everyone I know!

All in all this place was just a plain disappointment. I've had better fish at Red Lobster. The steak my wife had was far from tasteful. Although our waitress seemed sweet, she had no idea of how to serve in a restaurant. No second chances here.

I too went to Bobs and had the Burger it was the Worst I had it taste like a burnt charcoal burger you want great burger Fort st. brewery or Mal-lie" or the old Speedboat that's great burgers and boy do they try and Push those Corona;s I will never be back in this Place. The service was awful and yes they have bad Management better get someone better to run this place. and X the night club at night .You know the food cant be good or the service .Would all these people be wrong .But I am happy I can go to a place to write my Experience down so other people can read it and were I can read theirs too.And even someone from a major advertising magazine didn't like it

My family and I went here just last night. The food was excellent. I think their burgers are the best I've ever had! The waitress was very courteous. I'll definitely be coming back.

I love the tiki bar and sitting outdoors. The steak is a bit pricey but you have a lot to choose from. I even got something to go for later. The kitchen does a great job with food and we didn't have to wait very long for our order.

All in all Wyandotte and the boathouse was a good experience.

Went last week...The prices were good only 10.00 for a yummy salad. Great service, great food, great atmosphere I'll def go back again. I dont know where some of these people went to but it is really a laid back place with a bar bar too/

We were there eating at the tiki tables outside this past Sunday August 3. Both my husband and I got sick about 40 minutes after ??? beware.... Neither of us have ever had food poisoning in our lives... and now both at once ?? That's what we get for eating from each others plates... now we don't know which was bad. distraught. Never again will we eat at Bob's boathouse.

my first time eating at bobs boathouse was two nights ago, and i had the tiki burgers and my husband had seafood. the food tasted incredible, way better than portifinos. our hostess was very polite and had a smile on her face the entire time. our waitress served us right away, and also brought our food out quickly. we then proceeded outside to sit at the tiki bar, and i loved the outside view. they have a beautiful view of the water, their drinks taste good for the money you pay, and it has a summertime vibe to it. the people who are complaining about the restraunt must be at a different place because many of my friends who have been there also agree that the restraunt is amazing and the owner is doing a fantastic job. every place has their kinks, but this restraunt is trully top notch and deserves a chance to those who read the negative comments, because they have no taste whatsoever.

The whole concept of the outside tiki bar is great however, Rowdy young kids NO!!! Food was ok tasting but one of our party got very ill after eating. Had to have been food poisoning. Left as fast as it came on. If youre going to drink beer n listen to music its OK. Wont eat there again tho.

Talk about not living up to expectations... Bob's Boathouse in Wyandotte was a big let down. Without decent service you have nothing. And what is with the ruckus after the dinner hour? Big mistake if you are looking for longevity by catering to the young rowdy crowd.

I have visit bob's boathous several times the food and service was fine, the staff was very nice and friendly. No matter where you go you will find something that you might dislike and that's okay but you DON'T tell someone else not to go because of your bad experience.At one time my food took too long but that's okay I goy a chance to meet the owner as well as the other staff especially W.Oates who plans to finally go out with me after several eye contacts that should be nice what a wonderful place, not just saying that because it is a nice place!

Visited for the first time Friday 8-1-2008 at around 7:30pm. Walked outside to the tiki bar and ordered a drink. Decided to get a burger inside at the bar at 7:45pm and got served at 9:15pm and the food was not hot. 1 1/2 hours for a simple burger is unacceptable. They do not care about customer service at this restaurant. I will not be back.

Last night, the 25th saw another fight break out in the Tiki outdoor area. There seems to be a lot of big boy testosterone, cutey girls and alcohol. The mix is not good.

My friend and I spent last Friday evening at Bob's. This was our first visit and we were so excited to finally have a suppoedly "good" waterfront establishment since South Shore shut down.

We arrived around 7pm and were immediately told the only parking available was valet. The attendant then told us if we were interested in eating there was at least a 2 hour wait. All this negative stuff and we were still sitting in our car!

We ended up with the valet parking (had no choice) and decided to at least check the place out and have a cocktail near the water. We had to stand and wait for some time to purchase 2 drinks at the Tiki bar and ended up sitting at a hard picnic table in front of the water.

After at least 2 hours we were told we could probably get served food so we went inside, sat at the bar and waited forever to get a server. Her name was Paulette and she seemed to be the only one working and believe me, she was working her ass off. I asked several people that were standing around in uniforms if they were managers and not one of them was.

The mussels we ordered took forever but were decent.

I would like to know who the owner is. I have been told it is owned by a man that also owns Jacks out in St. Clair. Then I was told it is owned by a woman who was yelling and swearing at employees in front of customers including young children.

I am not spending my hard earned money at an establishment like this. How sad that another potentially great waterfront estabishment will probably sink like the last one.

I went Bobs Boathouse on Saturday Night with a Few Friends,We went for dinner and a few drinks. My steak was very over cooked my friend had Chicken Parm it has no taste I had a little Nibble LOL and another Friend had the Boathouse Appetizer it was just OK. Maybe Bobs has to much on the Menu and needs to settle on something tab smaller so people can get a better Tasting Meal, it seems as they offer a lot of everything that around town already has Fish ,Steaks maybe they should come up with some taster meals that are not already around here something different with less of a menu.But enough about the food..The drinks came but my Friend who was our driver for the night had a hard time getting a glass of water ? the service is really slow here for all the staff they have. I don't know if its the set up or what. I think they just welcome all the young drinkers out on the tiki bar they think that's were the moneys at and yet it may be true but it will end up like the Pier & South Shore they were great place but what a waste they ended up being.We also went out to the tiki bar a bit a little rowdy for us and crowded, they need to let less People out there and the staff I guess you can call them Bouncer a sad reminder of what the nights are like. I cant Imagine what its going to be like when the pool gets in. Leaving there was crazy a mad rush of cars trying to park driving reckless & with the loud bass radios on what a mess here comes the young kids.I feel sorry for the other Businesses around here with all the madness going on here.I think I will stick to Portofino's I don't know if I will come back at a latter day we will just have to see but it sure wouldn't be after 8pm

went for dinner on Friday. I had high expectations that just weren't delivered. My husbands was just ok but mine was way overcooked. The waitress was a bit slow and unsure... my daquiri was way too weak for the price. I would much have rather left a reccomendation but there just wasn't much good to say. And a security guy was staring at us as we walked by. By the looks of him, definately not a place I'd want to spend a night out. We might try again in a couple months to see if improvement is made.

My boyfriend and I went during the street fair. The hostess tried to seat us at an outdoor table covered in seagull feathers. We opted for a cleaner one. My burger was burnt and bland. His club quesadilla was a decent sandwich, but a bit overpriced for what it was. The beer special was decent. We'll try again once they have more time to organize and get the food under control. It was very obvious they opened for business too soon. One more try, though... I'd like to see this local business succeed.

I went to Bobs Three times.How many times Must I go to Finally to get the Service I should get, Come on Girl if you guys dont know what your doing Now your never Going to know. I had the worst service here.And my Perch was Tasteless and you guys didnt even have a clue about my drink. Im not going to keep wasting my Money. And mabye with the all the bad reveiws you guys would think? Yes I know some you cant belive like the Annonymous but a lot of people were bold enough to a least leave their name

Me and the wife went to Bob's in the afternoon around 3.30. Our service was pretty good. The food overall was good, Had the French Onion Soup that was very good. The Fresh brewed Iced Tea was Nasty, I always call it the Dirty pot taste. The bread rolls are good. After lunch we went out to the TIKI BAR and had a drink, It is a nice bar with the river views. Drink prices were moderate-high. We will most likely go back again, but It will always be in the afternoon when they are not as busy. I think I will skip the night bar seen, to many reports of trouble and fights at night. I know for a fact the Wyandotte Police officers already hate this place,They expect to respond to calls at Bob's on a regular basis. It could be a very nice place to hang out at if they got rid of the nightclub vibe at night.

The staff seemed confused and the food prices are too high for the quality. Not enough parking. I was disappointed with the quality of food. I will not go back. This a just another Wyandotte mistake.

All i have to say is no parking they need to tear down the other building and make more parking , there in place of that other blue building. A night out with my wife was a sad one with service that was very bad. It was my wife's birthday and not only her but i was very upset , over the high price menu for what was said to be top of the line food . I really hope the owner and manager turns this place around into what they thought it would be , i just wanna say good luck to them . Also good luck to anybody that goes there anytime soon ... Expecting anything good from there to make it a good night out for dinner , the service and managers need to get better at there jobs very fast ... I feel like other people Ive talk to about this place is that , its going to be a hang out for the young crowd . So all you adults out there i think the management is banking on the , young crowds coming in and spending money like that place that was once in Wyandotte behind the hospital called South Shore . What are they gonna do in September when the kids go back to school ...

Hard to believe you'd start a big restaurant like this, with planning and hard work to open it, with anticipation of success and let it be so disasterous. My friends and I met there for dinner and it took a quite a while before a waitress even appeared. I'm not sure how you could miss a party of 12 ? She took our drink orders, and it took a half hour before getting them. We should have gotten the clue there,, but we then placed our dinner orders. Over an hour later, the meals started coming over the course of another hour. Each of us got our meals at different times. We were done eating and finally the last meal came for my friend, who waited patiently. Then the bills were inaccurate, to make matters worse.
The food was average. But the service will pretty much ruin your evening, you can count on it.
I can also see the beginning of a younger "club" type crowd. So much for finding a nice place to have dinner on the water without the club music mix starting. Its a waste of waterfront.
You can say,... "they're new, give them time,," etc.. but this stuff should have been worked out BEFORE opening. Hire about 20 more waitress's and it "might" work.

The service today was unlike the last two times I've been. Please work on this... you're ruining a decent place with the slow, undertrained staff. Pay attention to your customers more

I moved into the new development across the street and love Bob's Boathouse. It's like being on vacation right across the street from home. The staff has been friendly. I love the tiki bar and sitting in the lounge chairs outdoors. All of downriver gets a bad rap, even though each of the surrounding suburbs outside of Detroit have their downfalls. Bob's Boathouse is a nice addition to the cute town of Wyandotte! I haven't had dinner yet, only the appetizer platter and liquor, but the appetizers were great. I'll keep going back.

I went to Bob's last Saturday and was very disappointed in the service that I received. The quality of the drinks was poor as well as the service. Unless you feel like waiting a 1/2 hour for a drink (and thats a minimum) I would suggest going somewhere else. Honestly I will probably never visit this place again. Poor service and quality explains this place to a T.

Well I have to say, this place has the worst service possible! Our waitress outside was clueless! We ordered our dinner, only to have salads and soups come with no silverware. We asked for silverware, and it took 10 minutes for her to bring it. By that time, our food arrived and we hadden even touched our soup or salads. My sister asked for tartar sauce for her fish that never came. We asked for another drink several times, they never came. We witnessed 5 tables around us leave, because they were never acknowledged. Then when my husband went to talk to the manager whose name is William Oates. My husband informed him that we asked the waitress for drinks 3 times and they never did come, his response was "Were you cut off?" I find that to be very insulting and unprofessional. Then he had the nerve to give us a card for our next trip back. We will never eat there again! BEWARE!

This is not a place for a middle aged person at all. A number of rowdy kids and I actually saw a bottle being thrown. Better clean it up in a hurry.

I went there on Friday night and thought the food, service and atmosphere were great. The Tiki Bar set up outside will be a hit once more people hear of the restaurant. I do plan on going there again

Went there for the first time last night with our friends and we had a great time. The place is massive and the layout is nice. The outdoor tiki bar is perfect for the summer weather. The staff was friendly and our servers were prompt. I honestly don't know what anybody is complaining about, this place just opened up - there are bound to be a few kinks, anyone who has ever owned a business would know. The prices were reasonable and the drinks were really good. We will definitely be heading back there this summer.

Can't say much not a good place. Design is horrible, looks like a garage that somebody put tables into. Waterfront Cabana, really not for 50 dollars an hour! Gonna try and blast me and tell me what i say isn't true? Go there and buy a bottled water. You can't they dont sell it!!! Water is tap only. What a joke. Will not be there ever again.

Bobs Boathouse is a fun place, people on here writing these bad reviews must have gone somewhere else, they are confused! I had a great meal, and a few drinks with a friend for only 30 bucks =] thats not bad, its right on the water! the staff i encountered were very helpful and cheerful! i had a good social experience and great food and fun! The managers are amazing, sue came to my table and i told her how wonderful everything was. They just opened the doors almost a week ago and if anyone has ever helped open a restaurant they would know that it is really hard to do and you will always encounter some set backs, it might be a little slow because everything is new, but, take my advise Dont listen to all the nonsense that some people are writing go down there and try it for yourself! I can gaurentee a good time with good people!!!! ill be back ALOT!!!

I went on opening night and the following night. I found this restaurant, renovated from a marina, really well thought out and nicely decorated. The food was very good (my husband and I had seafood) and service was great but some "kinks" in the system made for a slightly longer wait for things. Since I had wonderful companions, great hostesses and waitstaff with whom I had good conversation, I found the evening to be a pleasant experience. (which is why I came back the following night with friends). I loved the patio and the view and even got to see the fireworks. We think this is a great addition to the downriver restaurants as the food is comparable in price to anything I've seen. I definitely will be back. (I have read other reviews, and it is a little strange people can review a restaurant before it was open...just a note to other reviewers) Thanks for everything Bob's!!

I've heard about this place opening for quite some time now.... the anticipation was well over dramatic. The food was just 'ok' and the waitress had no clue. Can't blame her, must be the training. Oh well, we give all the new restaurants a shot and this will be our last. good luck

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Bob's Boathouse on Friday, June 27th (opening night)!!! When we arrived I was amazed at the interior of the converted warehouse!! It was truly top-notch work! The atmosphere was fun and friendly. The wait staff were accommodating and helpful although they needed a bit more training. (Our server brought the wrong beer but it was corrected!) The food was divine! I always opt for a cheeseburger when I am at a new restaurant and this burger was SO good! My companion had chicken parm and it was excellent as well! The food was very reasonably priced ($38 for dinner and drinks for two is unbeatable!!!) We sat on the patio, enjoyed the view and our food and was even able to see some of the Wyandotte fireworks!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOB'S BOATHOUSE!!!! It is VERY affordable, excellent food and great views provided you sit on their HUGE patio!!!Thanks!

Dinner was OK nothing to brag about had no taste my Money not well Spent me & my wife might not dine here again hope others have had better dinner then ours waitstaff did not have any Ideas on drinks need more Training

Absolutely loved the food! "Jeff the Cheff" was at his best on the evening that my Wife and I dined there on Saturday. Who takes the time to De-skin there fish? Only the best chef's and those in food preparation would take the time to do this. Service: Could not have been put more at ease, and explained the 'protocol' as well as our server did. Andrea P was very knowledgeable about the food, and my Wife even had the fish, based on Andria's suggestion about it's freshness and texture. Will be back often. Scott & Jeanne A. Lincoln Park.
