After having two mechanics look at my stalling issue with my 1979 Mercedes 240d and neither being able to figure it out, I called a shop who referred me to Nas because he specialized in foreign. That was an understatement. He diagnosed the likely issue over the phone and he was right. It needed a new fuel injector pump. The part costs around 1800-2000 new but he found a used one for $400. I had to wait a couple weeks to come up with the cash. In the mean time he continued to search and found another one for $150.

It did take a few weeks for him to get around to changing it and when I got a call on the phone Saturday saying to call back, I assumed the car was done so I went to pick it up but they were closed. Luckily the car was outside so I drove off (he trusts me). I went 100 miles straight to Lansing and the car broke down. I called Nas monday and he said it wasn't finished (the phone call just said to call him). My bad! I couldn't get the car back so I took it to Franks Mercedes repair shop. He made some adjustments but informed me that it hadn't needed a new fuel injector pump, it just needed to be timed. I told this to Nas and he gave me the benefit of the doubt and refused to accept payment for the labor. I wanted to pay, he wouldn't take the money! He only later accepted the $150 for the part and I know he changed it because he gave me the old one.

He has done a few repairs to both my cars and always searches for the best deal and will often fix extra small repairs for free. One time I saw him tighten a wheel on someones car whom I had talked to for a while waiting and whom I found had never come there before. Nas didn't charge him.

Another time I came in to see a Man whom I didn't recognize doing odd jobs around the shop. I commented on the new employee to Nas and he said that he wasn't paying him and that he (Nas) had helped the man out and the man wouldn't go away until he repaid the debt.

I only feel bad that I might be diminishing his altruism by posting this gratification. He definitely doesn't need the extra business by the looks of it. But I post this for you, the consumer. Cheers.

Pros: honesty and quality of work

Cons: takes a long for even simple repairs (too many customers)
