This is one of those "little known gems" in Durham. The way this place works is that the owner, who is a well know food & wine-guru in the area puts together a menu with only 6 dishes on it (hence the name), and then pairs each of those with a special wine or beer that he believes goes perfect with it.

Everything is just outstanding! I have to telly out that I am much more a food guy than a wine guy, but the way that these are put together makes the fantastic food (some of the best in the area I think..i.e. Magnolia, 4 sq., etc.) and makes them taste even better! His "Lamby Joes" are one of my favorites. A take on the traditional Sloppy Jo, but with a spicy lamb mix. The flatbread is always delicious with goat cheese, or truffle oil or some other wonderful flavor.

The atmosphere is like noting else in Durham (possibly the Triangle) with very contemporary decor, comfy chairs and sofas, and a cozy bar. I could do without the TV set myself, but understand the need to attract people who like that sort of thing. They also have a Nintendo Wii hooked up and ready for you to play with in the back room, if you want (Very funny after a couple glasses of Argentinian Malbec, let me tell you!) This is not the cheapest place in Durham for a glass, but I think it is well worth it, especially if meeting friends or going out on a date. I first went here on a "date night" with my wife, we had their "special nachos" and she talks about them to this day!

I have to warn you, from the outside it looks like they are never open. I don't know why they don't turn the sign on, maybe some eclectic thing, but that is where the stuffiness ends, as everyone is very friendly and ready to help people like myself who know almost nothing about fancy wine and beer, order the best food & wine combos in the triangle.
