I began using Suntrust because it is my employer's bank, and I would cash reimbursement checks at a branch. They were fairly pushy about opening a new account, and finally I did. I was impressed with the ATM coverage in the DC metro area, and the account was free and didnt' seem to be boobytrapped with too many hidden fees. I kept small amounts in the account and never had any problems accessing my money. One huge problem was the online banking, which I have never been able to log into, and for security reasons they aren't able to help me out with it to figure out what happend to my username, or password, or whatever is wrong. You can do banking transactions on the ATM, however.
