I understand that Hamilton's is just a local bar - a dive bar, even - but I feel like this place could benefit a lot from the amount of young (and older) folks who work in the area. I work close by, so Hamilton's is often a go-to for a quick happy hour after work. But I wouldn't come here on a weekend night looking for a great time and great drinks. They serve your standard beer and liquor and have a pretty substantial menu of typical American food, but that's about it. It works if you work (or even live) close by and don't feel like dealing with crowds or expensive drinks.

Pros: close the Capitol, standard cheap bar fare

Cons: mediocre food, blah decor

We went over the lunch hour on a weekday and while we did find the atmosphere to be fun and lively, I wouldn't worry about it if you're not looking to party at noon. For sightseers this is a gem. It is very near the D.C. Museums and Pennsylvania avenue, but is not pricey or dressy. As tourists we enjoyed the AC, the very moderately priced American food, and the very friendly service. You will not feel out of place here in your sneakers and shorts.

Hamilton's Bar and Grill, near the Judiciary Square Metro Station is a totally fun bar. The food is very good, but Hamilton's claim to fame is its party-like bar atmosphere. Highly recommended.
