The Tabard Inn is one of my favorite spots for a drink with friends. It's perfect all year round.

The inside with its Persian rugs, leather sofas and chairs and fireplaces feels like a well-appointed, well-loved living room. Couches

Pros: Cozy fireplace, sweet parachute roof outside

Cons: Reservations can be tough

Tucked away in this historic Inn near Dupont Circle this quaint and cozy hotel restaurant has some of the most decadent brunch items in the city. Having been several times, I've never been disappointed. The menu changes some of the items

Pros: Delicious french toast and donuts to die for.

Cons: Reservations need to be booked in advance to avoid a wait.

Tabard Inn's dinner may be expensive, but the brunch is superb value. Good luck trying to figure out what to order, because everything ALWAYS sounds good. Don't worry you won't feel cheated, as everything is tasty. The donuts are a must try and the hanger steak is about as good as they come.

Aside from brunch, drinks by the fireplace are a good time in the winter. They have a very respectable beer selection.

The Tabard Inn not only has amazing food, but it is a quaint, old fashioned Inn with a lot of character tucked inside the bustle of downtown DC

I'm constantly trying to find awesome brunch places in the city....what can I say, I love breakfast food! Tabard Inn definitely fits the bill. Truly amazing food (I had the french toast) is the norm here, with excellent breakfast cocktails (my favorite is the mimosa), which I recommend drinking while waiting for a seat in the dining area, as it can be busy on the weekend. Don't be deterred by the wait though - it is worth it...instead, revel in the cozy living room waiting area and take in the atmosphere with friends or family. Also, don't miss out on the freshly baked doughnuts - they are a treat! Friendly and enthusiastic servers top off the experience.
