...why a grilled cheese and beer. Or even better a grilled *blank* and *blank* and cheese and beer where the blanks are filled in with other delicious sandwich fillings. Just be aware of the wait, but I think it's totally worth it.

Food has been good the three times I've been there, but even getting to the lakewood location at opening, still takes a long time to get the food. Unfortunatly they have a small kitchen and can only get the food out so fast, even worse

I was at Melt in Lakewood last night for dinner and was disappointed. The chicken melt sandwich had maybe 3 ounces of chicken and was mostly just bread. I expected a pint when I ordered a draft beer and was served this little 6 ounce

Went on a weekday around 1 pm with no wait. Quesadilla starter a meal in itself. Fresh coleslaw on the sides along with tasty fries and sandwich big enough to split..all fresh ingredients...will be back!! Great value for amount and quality of food.

The beer was AWESOME! On a Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm we waited 1.5 hours before actually eating anything. We waited 45 minutes to be seated and 45 minutes for our food to be delivered after ordering. The night before at 8:00pm the wait was 2 HOURS. There is a lot of open space where they could have more tables, thereby reducing the wait time. As well there is a great deal of time between when a table is cleared and the next group is seated (like 15 minutes), I had time to observe this over and over as I waited with many others to be seated. In addition I witnessed many people leave because of the wait time. The food was good but not spectacular, NOT WORTH THE WAIT. The beer was good but NOT WORTH THE WAIT. It was frustrating to watch how the inefficiency of the staff made the wait longer for everyone. If the place is as popular as it seems and the staff this inefficient imagine what it could be if they did everything they could to turn over tables and use their space well. Or perhaps, just perhaps it is time to think of moving to a larger location.

I love all things bread and cheese which may make me a bit biased about this culinary treasure. This is not a place I could eat at all the time but when I know I'm coming, I don't fill up on much during the day. It is so worth it when I see that giant grilled cheese, coleslaw and french fries on my plate. I always get the Kindergarten with cheddar and provolone and it never disappoints. Their coleslaw is so unique. It doesn't have any mayonnaise and it's a nice, light accompaniment to the grilled cheese and french fries.

I don't just go for the food, the atmosphere is a reflection of the food. They have at least one tv on the Cartoon Network constantly, play old-school 80s movies and even sports (my favorite!). I would take anyone here that likes a great grilled cheese or maybe even has an appetite for the unusual. Chances are Melt has a grilled cheese that's gourmet enough to fit anyone.

A word to the wise, if you're going to go during the dinner rush, there's going to be a very long wait. Melt just expanded their seating space but very rarely (save going early in the day or late in the evening) can you just walk in and get a table. Your mouth will be watering by the time you're seated!

Personally, I love the melt and what it brings to the surrounding area and would almost say that it is a must visit for people who may find themselves new to Cleveland. It is a unique business opened up on the premise that there is such a thing as gourmet grilled cheese and brings to the table grilled cheese laden with mediteranian ingredients, conventional goods, or good home grown ham and cheese type sandwiches.

The price on a meal is quite reasonable, and the only problem that I could even point out is the potential for a mediocre to bad wait time for a seat. I have gone to the melt a couple of times, and have only had this problem once, but as the Melt grows in popularity, this could also grow as a problem.

So go hungry, and ready for some great food, as there is one thing I can gurantee... you may be leary of the wait, but you'll definitely leave happy and satisfied!

I ate at The Melt Bar & Grill for the first time a few months ago. They basically specialize in grilled cheese sandwiches, but offer more combinations than you can possibly think of. We went at lunch time and they were really busy. The food was really good and they had a very nice selection of grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from. The staff was also very helpful and nice.

On the down side, the food took a really long time and it also took a very long time to get seated. The tables are very cramped and too close together. We had four in our party and were sat at a table meant for two and we were almost touching elbows with the couple sitting at the next table over.

Overall, I would still say the experience went well, and would recommend The Melt to others, but I would recommend going at an off time for your first experience so you can really have time to enjoy the unique atmosphere.

My sister and I went to Melt on a Friday night and found that there was a 2 hour wait to be seated. We decided to at least stay and have a drink, since the reason we went was to try the huge beer selection. Luck was on our side because right when we got to the bar, a couple left, so we ended up with seats 5 minutes after walking in. But even if we hadn't it would have been worth the wait! Melt's beer list is 3 or 4 menu pages long. They even had Strongbow, an English cider that I LOVE, but have trouble finding in the US, so I had one of those and my sister had the even more delicious Pear Cider. As for the food, it was some of the best I've ever had in Cleveland. As the name suggests, Melt specializes in grilled sandwiches, all served with delicious, thick cut fries. I had the Monte Cristo (ham, turkey, american, and swiss) and my sister had the Kindergartener (basic grilled cheese) with garlic dressing added. Both of our sandwiches were amazing. There was the perfect amount of cheese and the bread was perfectly crisp. The food took a long time (seemed to see a lot of carryout orders coming from the kitchen), but it didn't bother us since it gave us a chance to try different drinks. Overall a great experience, though not someplace to go on the weekend if you just want to get in and out.

Pros: International beer selection, great prices, big portions
